Holy grail of headsets
 |
United States Ethanmeister
My 3rd headset in less than 2 years just had the same issue as my previous two, the mic stopped working. The first one was a Logitech G231 and my last two were HyperX Cloud Stingers. I need a headset that is cheap (ideally under $50), reliable and has good sound quality. Does such a thing exist or do I have to sacrifice in one area?

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
I would always go HyperX Cloud 2

+1 ive used clouds for 5+ years probably, totally 3 pairs i think, same mic issue with both of them after rolling couple of times over the long ass cable with my chair..=( either the cable is like 3 meters or 20 cm, neither really fits for me but overall good quality i think

The stinger or different models? And the cables were definitely damaged?

hyper X, yeah but they get a bit tangled since i cant bother to fix them, i could probably have avoided some of the damage done

Buy a microphone

Holy grail of headsets = regular headphones with external mic.

+1 mic will last much longer and main reason headsets die is the mic jack so its a nobrainer

on top of that you will get product with way better sound quality. headsets(and especially those "cheaper" ones) are overpriced piece of crap

Save for a while and get some decent studio headphones + a table mic, best choice you can make on the long run

I don't really need to save I just don't want to spend a lot on peripherals and would like to keep using headsets because I don't have much space for an external mic.

You could get a modmic. They have pretty good mic quality + you can attach them to any headphones.

I haven't had one myself, but I was thinking about getting one for my Audio Technica ATH 500X. But I've heard they are a good option if you want a better quality mic and have limited space!

I've had a modmic 4 for 3 years, still no signs of wear/decrease in mic quality.
2020-09-29 17:05
+1 Good studio headphones + modmic > overpriced "gaming" shitty headsets
2020-09-29 11:17
But they're made with higher quality products than cheap headphones, so you end up saving on the long run + the sound quality it's just a lot better, But if you prefer gaming headsets it's up to you

don't shove the mic up the ass, been using same 10€ headset at work for the last 3 years and mic still works, same with my 5y 20€ headset at home.
2020-09-29 10:07
I'd reccomend the Creative HS-810. I've had two so far, each lasted about 5 years of heavy use before the material started to look not nice anymore. Both still work though and have a pretty decent sound quality.
2020-09-29 10:11
Cloud 2
2020-09-29 10:11
Your problem is you keep buying gaming headsets, made to break because they're cheap enough to replace, been there done that like 10 years ago. Do yourself a favor and buy something like the beyerdynamic 990dts, good luck breaking those.
2020-09-29 10:13
Sennheiser, but the expensive ones! I have a pc350 since 10 years, didnt break yet and I have a PC360 G4me or Pc363, i dont even know since 2016 that I use daily. Still working perfectly
2020-09-29 10:18
Sennheiser for sure. I have mine HD25 for 12years and still works great. and for gaming i have GSP 300 for 2 years and its same, no problems at all

I just don't want to spend a lot on peripherals if I can avoid it. I'll spend more if necessary so I don't have to keep buying shit. How long has the G Pro X lasted you?

2020-09-29 10:43
Studio headphones + external mic is the way to go
2020-09-29 10:32
not much to choose from within 50$ price range so id recommend some cloud 1/2 or even cores, it really doesnt get any better than that for this price
2020-09-29 10:40
sennheiser game zero or game one you don't even feel them on your head
2020-09-29 11:04
Plantronics rig 500 is perfect for me, but i cant find it anywhere. There a lots of rig 300,400,600 etc though
2020-09-29 11:04
Sorry, nothing good in that price range. Good headphones start at 300 euro
2020-09-29 11:12
buy Arctis 3 5 7 I have been using arctis 3 for 2 years, no problem
2020-09-29 11:19
I too have had cloud 2s for almost a year now. Dropped many times and they still work. Got it for 60 too used on amazon. BTW if youre having mic issues just buy a sepeate microphone llike streamers for like 40-50 bucks

you want a cheap headset and expect it to be both good quality and good durability bitch what?
2020-09-29 11:24
I have a hyperx cloud stinger currently, there is no reason to buy one. Just get a hyperx cloud 2, they’re virtually the same but half the price
2020-09-29 11:35
i have my razer elecrtra 8 years and sound is still in great quality, but i had to change headband, cable and earbuds due to constant wearing and mic is no big deal, any cheap mic can work great, i bough mine couple years ago for 10€and still works just fine

I play for 6 or more years with a "Creative Fatal1Ty Pro Gaming Headset", no damage, no crackles and that shit was just around 30 Euros and i often hear more details than my mates with top glory 100 euro+ Headsets. It is terrible for Music but you hear Steps from CT to T Spawn
2020-09-29 11:47
Microsoft LX-3000 better mic than gaming headsets.

Arctis 5 if you have to budget. Arctis 7 if you can afford it. Best wireless headset
2020-09-29 17:12
takstar hd2000 + a modmic
2020-09-29 17:20
Bro.. invest some money in a real headset and you're good for at least 5 years and probably many many more if you respect your hardware. I still have working Sennheiser headsets from when I played cs 1.5 lans. Having owned countless of different brands of headsets I can assure you, Sennheiser is the way to go. There is simply nothing that comes near it. Having said that, I never bought +500 € headsets so I'm not sure about those brands but for medium price range you should try out Sennheiser. You won't regret.
2020-09-29 17:54
Bro just spare for the Razer nari essential wireless it’s 100€
