Surely this proves that device's placements were only due to the system Astralis had implemented and not really about individual quality.
After xyp and glaive left his performances went to mediocre levels, and now even with glaive he just can't keep up with his old performances.
Zywoo, s1mple, niko, elige, all of this guys are able to rise above and put up numbers even when their team is not delivering.

Nah it is meant overall, in that you are correct.
His teams had the same core since Copenhagen Wolves, and their were always build around device, cuz he obvious is the best player in the core, you'll never hear me argue about this.
That being said, compared to the individual levels of every other top 1 he lacks behind, and it's not going to change anytime soon.
If you remove device from his confort zone he fubles(this changes in astralis show that). If you remove any of the others I mentioned from their current team they'll deliver monster numbers regardless because of the way they approach the game and their mechanical skills.

Because the title literally is "Device won't ever be TOP 1", and cuz he is always a candidate. My point is that is gets in that position because of what surround him and not because of his individual skill. That doesn't mean he is not good, it just means that he is set up to suceed and even then he lacks behind other stars.
The game evolved a lot since 2015, players are getting better and better individually. That's why that list has so many washed up /retired stars. Device was able to keep up his level surrounded by the right system. And he is great at it. Just not top 1 material individually.
And I don't think he has been shit this year. Just mediocre compared to the previous years.

You are talking like s1mple didn’t play with different teams in different structures. ZyWoO is comparatively young and he will play with different players/teams. None of the players OP mentioned had played with the same same core of players since CS:GO started.

Astralis do play around 3covice. He is just a system player, that’s the point. s1mple has proven to show big numbers in different lineups with different IGL with different teams and proved time and time again. 2covice didn’t. Never left his comfort zone. Getting carried by his teammates. It’s just facts. Further proves that #42 and #128 were right 🤷🏿♂️.

You are pulling on a guy, who obvyiously is the greatest winner of all time, confirmed by many experts, casters and etc.
Individual stats are not all a top1 player needs, s1mple and zyw are stronger surly, but what have they won ? Dev1ce plays the smartest cs of the people you mentoned early, he may be boaring for many, but this is the way to have the best impact in most situations. At the end of the day, the real top1 is the real champ, and you know who the champ champ is.

Winning is for sure important, and device got the titles on his belt, titles that s1mple/zywoo/etc probably won't get.
Yet those players will take over games in ways device can't even dream about, cuz they are simply better in such a way that it buries the fact that device is a better team player.
More often than not those players make their team suceed while on the other hand device's team makes device suceed.
Ofc that he needs to be good to take advantage of his team, but impact wise, IMO, he just isn't there when compared to the other beasts.

top 1s yes, but like the rest of the rankings were heavily influenced by titles (fundamentally wrong) and s1mple brought us the paradigm shift we needed in the scene. but I do hear that in I think 2014 people say it should be flusha rather than GTR but that is indifferent because that was peak fnatic (also flusha's most suspect days with VAC LUL)

It is important to note that if for example the coaching rule wasnt added in 2017 NaVi would have been far stronger. Astralis had many things go its way by having the best fragging igl aswell in which gla1ve was a guy who almost got the cadian treatment.

Frankly I think only NiKo stands out as the guy who is unshakeable when it comes to the team's overall performance throughout a match or a map - he's very independent thinking and aim is always on par and cold as ice - love that guy.
All of the teams you've mentioned have undergone some changes lately, so getting re-tuned as a team is challenging. 2020 is only just starting - this tournament shows who's got structure and talent, but decides very little - it is a scoop though.

Player skill and trophies really goes hand in hand. I never said device is top 1. Anyone knows that. But say that he gets carried hard by hes team is just pure retardness and obvious that they did not watch even 10 % of the matches.
Winning a Major is a team achievement, but you also get your own medal, so yes device 4 majors.

But in 2016 he was a top3 player I believe even with his team being trash,they struggled in like quarters and groups for most of the year,he was carrying the fuck out of them.
Also his stats are still really good in 2020 considering he had to play with fucking jugi and snappi for a long time with no real igl
