its matter of time when some EU pros will go for valorant, better money, riot>valve, in 5 years valorant will be bigger than cs

Just because people say this doesn't make it so. OW got a shit ton of money pumped into it and it never really was the favored fps. Just because Riot hit gold with LOL doesn't mean everything they touch will automatically be gold.

But OW was shit, this was not proper shooter fps, this was some magic whatever shit, in valorant u actually have to shot to kill someone.
2020-10-01 09:59
No matter what, it largely doesn't matter how much money and time you pump into a product or whatever thing, if it destined to be banger, it will. Valorant so far, after the initial hype from bought streamers, hasn't been that. And yes, although Riot didn't directly pay any streamer, the overhyped beta gave so many viewers and therefore tons of money even if a large percentage of views were bots farming keys. I'll watch it if literally all of the scene is stolen and I have to watch some nonamers in CS, but I really doubt that will happen.

im not into valorant, but it envolves the same kind of player cs does..... valorant is already "stealing" players from coutner strike and its gonna get bigger and bigger since they update their game and listen to the community. You can deny it, but it's easy to preview that. Overwatch has a totally different gameplay and some changes killed the competitive game, blizzard forced people to play how they wanted and that killed the game.
2020-10-01 15:22
Man, how is valorant non-existent in Europe then?

Just because you say doesnt make it true. Not only na players are going to valorant. And when it comes to entertainment ( games and movies) NA > EU...... look at movies and game sells, when you check the numbers 70% comes from USA.
2020-10-01 16:10
That's irrelevant. A product can and mostly will perform differently in different regions, no matter if it's the exact same or different in some way. Right now, Valorant doesn't have as much interest in EU compared to the US. EU's talent pool hasn't been poached as much as NA's has. Literally only people who didn't have what it takes to consistently compete in T1 or T2 competition have switched to Valorant, and not as many orgs have even tried to get current T1 talents. Don't say something that isn't true and then get defensive when you're wrong.

Lol, again, just cause you pretend it's true doesnt make it right ( you had to mimic me cause you had no argument haha). Who cares valorant is not as popular in EU as in US. US outsells whole EU for more than 500%.......... it's really dumb you trying to deny facts just cause youa re butthurt about the game.
2020-10-01 16:19
I used your argument to show that you're wrong- EU hasn't seen a talent loss due to Valorant because it's not the goal of CS players here. You would absolutely see more people switch over if the interest was as high over here. A player like NatoSaphix would be a prime target for Valorant but he still plays CS because he wants to and because European orgs don't want to get too expensive players for an esport that hasn't grown at all yet. I'm not pretending. You are. You seem to think that just because the US drives interest we should care automatically. Just look at football. Dude. Football is the most popular thing in the world. But it isn't in the US, and it isn't even close. You don't seem to get that different markets prefer different things.

Riot has stated it's largest population of gamers is in the EU/CIS/TR region --> playvalorant.com/en-us/news/game-updates.. It's the second quesion. Also, Gambit, Skade, Fnatic, Team Empire, Rogue and a few more just announced or plan to announce an EU lineup. EU still has a stable and strong CSGO scene so, not so many CS players leave but you'll see Apex, Siege, and other FPS stars move over. Once the 3 million dollar prize pools, and official leagues and tournaments setup you'll see more EU players moving in the scene. EU has always been much more cautious even in League of Legends and look at it now... A beast! Here's a list of EU/CIS orgs ---> Not shabby liquipedia.net/valorant/Portal:Teams Just saying... I do think CSGO is largely as strong as it is mainly due to EU and Brazil.

Look at GTA 5 sells in 2020 gta 5 has sold 130 million worldwide in 2017 gta 5 sold 85 millions only in US. Not that hard to understand the difference.
2020-10-01 16:25
Yeah and that just explains more that the markets aren't the same and just because the US leads the market DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THE EU AS A WHOLE FOLLOW IT.

Almost every big e-sport ORG invests a lot into building Valorant division although the game is not completely done yet. Big Org knows that Riot/Valorant will make them money so it is better to hop in first
2020-10-01 16:28
So true. It is like DOTA and LOL, both games are going to survive for quite some time but Riot's game will get more players, more money, a younger fanbase, younger player base eventually. They accomplished it with the stupid version of 'DOTA' and they are going to do it with the stupid version of 'CSGO' as well.

Valorant success is based on CSGO since all it is is a downgraded CSGO with OW skills upon that. Really cool for casuals that found CSGO too much of a hassle, easier for CSGO veterans to make a transition but lets be honest.. Its a shameful copycat and that have its cons and pros. Pros is that is quite lucrative to already establish CSGO players so there you have the "stealing" you talking about. It is because game is CSGO in its core. Also game is far easier and simplier from killing to use smokes/flash, buy, sell, aim, maps navigation , audio, everything is to favor lower skilled players . And there is the Con im talking about. Game hasnt as much skill involved as in CSGO, is far easier and that makes it decent to play and even worse to watch. Ive seen few pro matches and i rarely see a good spray kill since everyone dies in a sec and most of the times i see a mess in a site i dont even get what is going on with so many skills and shooting etc. Anyways, CSGO didnt get affected even if Valorant fanboys who by the way are coming from CSGO and that makes it even more disgusting to hate on a game it offered you hunderds of hours of gameplay for a game that is a copycat of that . By August 2018 CSGO population was at 240K if i remember correctly with August 2019 being at 440K . There numbers are before Valorant ... Today as we speak game having 640K. Dying they say.. One other thing i want to mention is that in Valorant i had like 40+ friends i met in beta.. Now i dont see more than 3-4 of them playing Valorant and it is the same people. That proves alot to me because i witnessed a similar situation with Diablo 3. Of course RIOT wont let it go down, it wont end up being anything like Diablo 3 but its a sign that things are not as used to be in beta. All in all, Valorant tried to make a casual game that will have an e-sport community as well so they mixed two games to achieve that. The problem lies that they copied hard things they shouldnt have. They had to add a new flavor to make it different. Shooting mechanics maybe or something that will make game stand out not feel one of the same and in many cases WORSE than the game they tried to copy hard ( performance, graphics, audio, map design, movement fluidity, mouse fluidity and more )
2020-10-01 15:46
Valorant looks like League for me. Look really stupid at the beginning, Budget version of 'DOTA', DOTA for noob people, people start playing after they cant handle dota, etc. This is the best part of Riot, they always copy other games and build upon it based on the feedback from the community. Valorant looks really stupid now but they will look good eventually. just like the League now
2020-10-02 02:53
Sorry but as someone who played LOL since beta, lol to me was way more attractive and solid to play than original DOTA even if was unbalanced at first. Still remember stacking sunfire cape with mundo and rip everyone on foot. Funny stuff. With Valorant is the opposite. It doesnt do anything better nor looks better not change something drastically to like it more. It doesnt even try to !! In fact in many cases is worse as i mentioned above. LOL was better than original DOTA in many ways after some time on the market. Even if Lol was a copy of a genre DOTA invented it spin off its own things and mechanics, heros and items that was enough to look and play different. So yes was a copy but had its own unique style and items and chars also.
2020-10-02 03:14
Valorant will work his way out also. Eventually We will see what Riot do with this stupid game
2020-10-02 12:03
This isnt who will get more people to play it, thats easy to guess. You got a casual appealing game that just came out that mimic one of the best fps of all time big time (CS ) AND one of the most successful and popular FPS of all time ( OVERWATCH ) vs a game that is out for 10 years ( let alone 20 if we go further back ) that is way more hardcore. So noone can say Valorant wont be successful but it wont be a CSGO killer by any means. August 2018 CSGO population was at 250K + August 2020 CSGO population was 630 + When my friend list in Valorant Beta was 40+ people and from all of those beta active players i see only 3-4 still playing the game which is an indicator that people do not stay as much as many beleive. Game still will get more people than CSGO though for the reasons i already stated but this game cant kill CSGO. Forget that. And that is that its strength ( of being so casual ) is its biggest weakness as well when it comes to highest level of play (e-sports, competition, skilled plays etc ) Comparison with LOL vs DOTA is just wrong also. Way different times, way different genre that had zero competition at the time , DOTA was a MOD when LOL was its own game, LOL had more appealing graphics and character design and fun items etc. It wasnt just a blant copy of same items/mechanics like Valorant is to CSGO and in the end of the day, after its beta LOL was a step forward in everything where Valorant is a step back !
2020-10-02 13:01
Everyone will have different thoughts and opinion. LOL definitely better than DOTA nowadays but I don't think LOL was a step forward when it first came out. Same with Valorant. That is my thought, simple as that
2020-10-02 13:48
LOL was different than original DOTA and had its own spin in many different ways from the get go. You can read about it if you search. It wasnt a blant copy/paste of mechanics/items/economy/gameplay and objectives like we see with Valorant which tries to mimic even the smallest of things. Everyone can have his own opinion. But lets not pretend CSGO is DOTA. CSGO is its own game that is on top of E-sports for many years now and has legendary status since early 2000s with too many of millions of players and involvement ( e-sports,media,community you name it ) under its umbrella with over 20 years on the market. DOTA was a Warcraft 3 mod that was popular for some time to WC3 players which how many WC3 copies sold in total ? 3million ? So lets stop comparing very different things , circumstances and times

2020-10-01 12:58
actually they make much more mistakes than random hltv user. and of course they get it right much more too. OW had a conceptual game design problem yes, and it has to do with the "magic shit".

LOL is big not only because Riot pumping money on it but also because initially it had big following in Asia, mainly Korea and China. Grassroot scene is very important in esports. People should stop "it's Riot so it can't fail/will crush their competitor" line of thinking. LoR definitely didn't kill Heartstone.

Remember when cs go was launched 8 years ago? this shit was so buggy, nobody wants to play it till 2013 when they added skins, lmao.
2020-10-01 09:59
You can't compare CSGO start to Valorant start at all brainiac. One game had all of the others to steal from and get ideas from, one had its earlier iterations of itself to build from. You also can't compare 2012 gaming scene as a whole with 2020. If Valorant would have been made in 2012 at the same time of CS, they both would have been awful compared to what they are today.
2020-10-01 10:08

riot games are only good at marketing. their games appeal to the casual majority. they aren't good developers, never have been. their two biggest games are just taking valve's two biggest games and making them easier. the second riot gets the advantage over valve, if that ever happens and all that marketing pays off they will stop putting in any effort whatsoever and will just milk their games dry. For god's sake they can't even be bothered to put in a marketplace to make skins way cheaper like their competitor did 8 years ago. They are greedy scum just like literally any company tencent owns and that will show if they get the upper hand. Valve on the other hand actually cares about gaming, has made numerous 10/10s such as portal, half life, tf ect and are spearheading VR game development just because they love to innovate. while riot just copies them and doesn't even let you get access to all the characters and playstyles in their games for free. they wouldn't even be on the map if not for valve.
2020-10-01 11:08
valorant is very well developed from where I can see, it's not "only marketing". the game is really great, works well, lots of fun, etc

you don't get my point, valorant's appeal comes from features counter strike invented, features valve developed and riot just assembled together, whilst removing some of what makes cs harder like counter strafing and fixed horizontal recoil.
2020-10-01 12:33
nobody cares dude. this is how society works: people copy and adapt good work made by others yes valorant is easier than cs, but I think that was the idea: it allows Riot to venture into younger audiences, and also people looking to have a lighter/faster experience like me. games end at 13 points, etc if anything, valve should start copying some stuff from riot now. valorant doesn't have BULLSHIT one-way-smokes for instance. I was never burnt by fire I can't see in valorant, teams can surrender, etc etc
2020-10-01 12:38
yeah right people play valorant for the absence of one way smokes aswell as 13 round games and not because its just csgo shooting and movement mechanics on easy mode. (also, teams can surrender in csgo and you can see fire wtf are you talking about)

IMO its a big gamble for the players that switch to valorant now because the current competetive valorant scene is a joke and you have no idea how it will develop in the future. sure they might get good money now but i'm pretty sure 60% of the players that switched already will regret it in the future
2020-10-01 09:58
People always says It'll become massive once Riot introduce a franchise league, when in reality it's pretty much a double edge sword. It'll generate hype yes but it could kill T2 and lower scene if they don't handle it properly. Just see what happened to OWL.
2020-10-01 10:35

they're currently destroying the scene of their region. NA always had a pretty weak scene but all the promising young players leaving the scene could really be the final nail in the coffin for them as soon as the big dogs need to make changes. maybe there is no NA scene left when they want to return. and most NA players are probably not even considered for EU/CIS scene because we got way too much talent on our own

On TV, on the Internet, and even on banners on the road. Where is Dota advertised? = once a year at the international, that's it! People will eat your shit if it's everywhere! Valorant is a shitty game and will never beat online cs (which has a SOURSE engine - which is older than me) If Valve advertised their products the way Riot does, Riot would go broke END

valve only makes games for rich kids with powerful computers. riot is more into accessibility, which I find awesome. I'm not 100% sure about this, but it's what I heard: valorant > cs lol > dota regarding specs needed to play the game
2020-10-01 12:25
you need a better computer for valorant than for cs lol
2020-10-01 12:46
are you sure? the game is big, but it doesn't seem too heavy
2020-10-01 12:48
You can get much better FPS and performance on CS than on valorant with same pc, yes I'm very sure.
2020-10-01 12:48
maybe. but valorant is a new game. I can remember when cs:go was released how fucking heavy it was.
2020-10-01 12:57
I see. But well, I had ZERO graphical problems, glitches or anything like that on Val. Ever.
2020-10-01 13:01
True, even though fps dips a lot in cs in some occasions, fps instability in valorant is just a mess
2020-10-01 16:20
cs,dota, half life, left dead series are some of the easiest games to run my 20 year old white case pc could run them and had them wtf dude?
2020-10-01 15:04
yeah I did some research and I was jus tripping. maybe because of the 30 different times my game broken for some reason through the years :/

2020-10-01 13:00
valve cant do that because soon they would ban opening crates
2020-10-01 15:30
Do you remember overwatch? xD Even the annoying caster semmler left csgo for overwatch and but would return few months later.
2020-10-01 10:13
Overwatch too hard competition and meta affects on stream interest Example when 2-shield meta existed overwatch was the most boring game to play and watch if we don't include Riot games
2020-10-01 12:24
Im top 500 eu overwatch and it was not even hard...... Main thing is that in overwatch you cannot carry by yourself. If one player suck u gonna lose. In csgo you can carry 1v5
2020-10-01 15:28
True. Before 2-2-2 if someone sucked you was able to pick everything in your arms and get a chance to win. After 2-2-2 adding because of "toxicity" if 1 player in the teams sucks you will lose no matter what are you doing
2020-10-01 15:39
VALORANT is the future, is booming in NA, SA, Japan and will soon in China, Korea and EU, are u guys boomers to not understand that?

csgo yesterday had peaked at 250k viewers. last val tournament peaked at 60k viewers only thanks to the twitch front page, afterwards it dropped to 30k max.
2020-10-01 11:13
china will probably ban it so there goes your china hype
2020-10-01 15:28
Riot is owned by TENCENT ( chinese company ), I doubt they're going to ban It

There are some players that feel they aren't going anywhere on cs go, losing on qualifications and struggling to reach the higher paid tournaments. They know, Valorant is similar in a lot of things to CS, the bomb, the 5v5, etc, so naturally, with their game sense and overall ability to play fps, they'll try Valorant because maybe there they will win, and reach those tournaments that on CS they couldn't. Scream is a good example. They're not switching because the game is better, because it's not. They're just trying to make some money while the competitive scene is still easy. At least for now.

2020-10-01 15:42
what im most interested is why the fuck are they paying this kind of money to anyone? the tournaments are shit, lans havent even been tested, the hype is going to die down and these orgs are going to cease operations
2020-10-01 10:49
cuz it doesn't even matter. networth of this riot orgs is so big. that they just sign players that have a past in highly established esport games.
2020-10-01 11:19
Riot isnt paying them, what are you on about? It's the orgs themselves
2020-10-01 12:48
yes but most of this orgs signing teams are already represent and big names in League of Legends, so they have so big money, they just take any team they want and try to become the best.
2020-10-01 14:34
it's a strategy where riot makes the game and competitive scene around it very hot by pumping money in, but they will only get this money back in the long term.
2020-10-01 12:28
The game is a joke and a complete ripoff of someone else ideas. Who except kids and koreans would ever want to touch this shameless milking farm?

Valorant Pro Scene Sucksss! but its a very good game
2020-10-01 11:06
it doesn't really, corona sucks which kinda makes the pro scene suck. if u have already developed good esport scene before corona happened. valorant could have big tournaments now, but since it was released during a pandemic, it kinda sux and makes it really hard to have any meaningful tournaments.
2020-10-01 11:18
kind of make sense.but it can never beat csgo competitive scene. Its simply the best esports pro scene.
2020-10-01 11:26
So this game is still alive lul?
2020-10-01 11:21
Organizations paying salaries to valulrant players is like European countries investing into Somalia economy lulw (For ones who don't understand i mean wasting money into the void)
2020-10-01 12:26
why do you thtink somalia is a void? sounds racist
2020-10-01 12:29
Imagine investing into country who doesn't exist It fell apart more than 30yrs ago and it has civil war now
2020-10-01 13:13
I can see you know very little about investments, geopolitics and life at large.
2020-10-01 13:14
Proof your words plz Will you invest into smth what doesn't exist?
2020-10-01 13:19
it's not only a matter of investments, but of geopolitic action as a whole, which includes economic actions there's a lot of benefit/profit to be made from "fixing" a chaotic country. 'Within crisis there's huge opportunity" If it "doesn't exist" like you say, making it exist should be of interest. That said, I now very little about somalia situation.
2020-10-01 13:23
Even UN can't do anything in Somalia,Ethiopia stucked and can't liberate country. The one Somalia what we know controls only Mogadishu and some small pieces of land.Other part of country is splitted between Somaliland and tons of different criminal clans

I remember when CSGO was behind 1.6 for a long time. Valorant will get a new generation of players and it will grow, and never compare valorant to OW, OW was a shir game from the begging made by a shit developer who doesn't understand the concept of an eSport. CS will continue as normal and Valorant will grow.
2020-10-01 12:56

We played a lot of Valorant when it was released up to the last Update, i made it up to Immortal 3 with Cypher but i never was 100% confident with the Aim and Recoil ... i mean even after making 3 Oneshots i totally missed the 4th and I never knew WHY ... its way too random, even the Devs said that the Aim is actually broken. The Sniper was absolutly OP, they Quadruple Nerfed it now. Anyway, everyone i ever played Valorant with is back at CS again, me too. *And the worst is you cant play 4:3 streched .. it wont stretch : (* At the moment we just play Valorant for fun when the Lobby wont get filled in CS or were too tired, but i like to watch some Pro Plays from time to time ... there are some nais Clips on HLTV
2020-10-01 13:11
This 30k pm is a misleading bs. A lot of the orgs, even Jason lake himself said that it's bs and the regular valorant pros aren't making anything even close to that. It's been reported by several sources that "SOME" valorant pros and not everyone ( keyword is some) are earning 30k pm. Only the very big name popular guys like wardell, nitro etc are earning that much. Compare that to what good t1 ( liquid, furia, eg guys not even talking account of Eu salaries) pros earn in cs, it's more or about the same. The reason these unsuccessful pros are switching is because it's easy money for them and they get to make something out their flopped career.
2020-10-01 13:13

Problem with valorant is that after playing it for 2months you’ve done everything the game can offer, I can’t learn anything, you don’t need to use your brain at all.. I’ve played counter strike since beta in 1999 and I still learn every game I play In to this day. That’s why CS is the dominant FPS, you are always having to think, learn and improve.

2020-10-01 15:02
meanwhile valorant making money from skins that cannot be traded aka they are pure cosmetic not like in csgo in steam you can do many things with cosmetics
2020-10-01 15:34
You can but it's just a skin nothing more right?? Iam talking about real changes in game not cosmetics
2020-10-01 23:11
is like trading your dignity for money respect to people that stick to cs cs = real man with honor valorant = little bitch
2020-10-01 15:21
valulrant still alive after 4 months??
2020-10-01 15:26
Pretty funny how every org just pretended valorant being a big esports game is a given from the beginning and just throw money around. Some of these orgs bought over watch and call of duty league spots so they aren’t the smartest but whatever.
2020-10-01 15:30

There is too much sci-fi action going on, just like fortknight and overwatch. I watched one clip on youtube of 2 minutes from that game and that was enough for a unsub. Good kids game but won't really steal public from CS. I think the valorant jumpers prays to be the next fortknight heroes, as i understand that game is pretty big still on the players 15 and under.
