Guys Berlin or?
Turkey belalikaiser
Hi. Is Berlin a nice place to live? Which European city should I live in? Give some advice pls Which one is the best? For everything.

hey, i studied in berlin for 6 months and i'd say it's probably not the best place to live in, but it's certainly interesting to visit.
2020-10-01 11:37
İ want live in berlin for all my life IDK
2020-10-01 11:38
well, it'll feel like home for you, that's for sure.

Capitals are never the best to live in IMO.
2020-10-01 11:40
+1 but it depends on the country
2020-10-01 11:43
I guess it does yes, personally wouldn't ever want to live in Amsterdam, but capitals are very crowded and busy all the time. Not my thing :)
2020-10-01 11:44
Idk was in Amsterdam for a few days and it was super nice but ofc I don't know how it is to live there. Rented a room from some dutch couple on their house-boat, was pretty cool.
2020-10-01 13:43
I enjoy Amsterdam to visit but can't imagine living there. My preference goes for small towns.
2020-10-01 14:31
Can confirm, amsterdam sucks to live in
2020-10-01 15:07
You still live there or did you move?
2020-10-01 15:11
I never lived there, but one of my friends does and we switched places for a week
2020-10-01 15:12
Oh right, well guess a good way to find out you don't wanna live there :P
2020-10-01 15:12
I live close to Assen rn and the peace here is simply unmissable for me
2020-10-01 15:14
Haven't been there but I heard it's pretty chill. I live in Vlissingen, Zeeland so I can agree on the peace

2020-10-01 15:15
Well maybe i should adress it another way: living in amsterdam is nothing for me. Very touristic and i'm not a fan of busy places, they make me tired after some time
2020-10-01 15:17
World breezy0
well yeah as it's with every bigger city the centre is always filled with people, guess there are some nice and chill outer areas too
2020-10-01 15:18
There are, but the guy i swapped houses with in Amsterdam lived in the exact center. Weirdly is that i did not have this stressful vibe in Berlin for example
2020-10-01 15:20
+1. Lived in Helsinki for five years and just moved out a few months ago, best decision ever. I have no idea what it's like in other regions of the world, but at least in Europe you're absolutely correct - the capitals are dreadful places.
2020-10-01 11:47
Glad you enjoy it much better where you are now! :) Capitals are good to visit now and again but that's about it.
2020-10-01 11:49
I loved Amsterdam all the times I visited it but I guess it's way different to live there and not just to visit. But Idk maybe in small countries it's not that bad since if u are not living in the capital it's most of the times very small and not a lot of things to do, I lived in Madrid most of my life and I was very confortable there (I didn't live in the center but it was still a big city so I had a lot of things and stuff to do around) but now in Sweden if u don't live in Stockholm or Gothenburg it's so fucking small and depressing xd
2020-10-01 13:23
I love the simplicity of small towns :) They have a lot more charm I find.
2020-10-01 15:12
how many people would u say it's perfect ? 2k? 50k? 80k?
2020-10-01 15:15
Around 50K is what I'm used to, I live in a place where there are just under 45K people. So for me around that amount, but less than 50K is pretty chill too.
2020-10-01 15:17
Hungary Shiron212
Totally agree I'm jealous of the people of Budapest, because they have incredible nightlife and so many different events and entertainment facilities, but the city itself is so crowded and over the place that I wouldn't like to live there Debrecen is the way to go, it's a really chill city, I love living here
2020-10-02 14:31

2020-10-02 14:58

Depends, you want to study there ? I would recommend against it, there are better places. If you want to work a high paying job then it's a good place. A lot of jobs in engineering, computer science and business field are looking for young people with finished degrees and experience. You can't just come up with a question "Is Berlin a nice place to live" you look like an idiot, do your research first. Unless this thread is a pointless bait of course.
2020-10-01 11:41
never ı dont scared Drudgery just I want my life to be comfortable in turkey

Leftard is not even a word. Probably u meant "rightards", which are absent in Berlin btw.
2020-10-01 12:52
2020-10-01 13:09
there are plenty of rightards in Berlin, most of them are making your kebab and selling the drug 👌😘

2020-10-01 11:56
but thats fun for a long weekend, not to live there
2020-10-01 11:53
This is true, I got bored in any other German city, Berlin is awesome
2020-10-01 11:54
haha hell on earth, literally. i was standing in line of berghain and i thought this is entrance to hell ^^
2020-10-01 11:57
well, you probably already knew before getting in line that they have a certain clientele and that they are very picky about who they let in, so they can maintain that image. why did you go? just curious
2020-10-01 17:46

2020-10-01 11:45
the biggest cities are less clean and nice than most medium size cities in western Europe, like for example Amsterdam is one of the worst cities to live in the Netherlands, find a smaller lesser known city
2020-10-01 11:53
But yesterday I found a youtube channel called "not only bike" or something like that and he praised Amsterdam like it's heaven on earth. I mean yes, he is an uncultured swine from the States but what's the best city to live in Netherlands in your opinion? Utrecht? And how does Amsterdam compare to your best city?
2020-10-01 12:12
Yeah cities where there's fun stuff to do but its not a gross tourist trap like Amsterdam, cities like Utrecht, Nijmegen, Eindhoven or Groningen.
2020-10-01 12:18
it really depends what you're interested in and how you like living, if you like big cities, lots of nightlife, good public transport, different types of cultures/foods/jobs etc. then you'll like berlin but it is a very upbeat city so if you want something more relaxing try smaller cities in bavaria if you want germany, look at bamberg for example, nice university town around 100k people
2020-10-01 12:05
ı love big cities kann ich try?
2020-10-01 12:58
Try living on countryside bro, ull see its much nicer...fresh air, nature and all that Shit is much nicer than a dirty city full of ppl u dont know and will never know
2020-10-01 14:20
I personally like cities more but thats just me, maybe when im older i'll live in countryside
2020-10-02 06:18
I mean i live in a "city" , yes for us in austria its a small city, for u its a fucking small town haha, with like 5000 ppl with the small towns around that are included its about 8000 ppl living there and i have to say i dont ever regret not living in a big city like vienna which is near my hometown....i hate having to go to vienna multiple times a week for university, id rather just go outside and taake a walk in the woods where im in 2 mins from home lmao
2020-10-02 10:32
what about Cologne?
2020-10-02 14:33
Cologne is a pretty nice city, its not nearly as big as say berlin or hamburg so it has a more local feel, the market, carnival and cologne cathedral are also very nice and get a lot of tourists. It's also very connected with many trains going all over germany and to nearby countries and its in the rhine area so a lot of other nearby cities. Also good beer if you're into that
2020-10-03 17:58
Seems like equally developed city like other big ones, but also not that type of anthill. Perfect ;>

Berlin is a beautiful city in my prospective, as an italian is quite different from what we have at least in the south-centre of the country. Very youth-friendly, gay friendly open multicultural leftist city, and its big. There are a lot of turks in Berlin so u should be even better. And its also cheap compared to the other european capitals.

'You are crazy, my child. You must go to Berlin.’ - Suppé ‘All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin.' - Kennedy ‘Berlin, the greatest cultural extravaganza that one could imagine.’ - Bowie ‘Berlin is poor, but sexy!’ - Wowereit “Berlin combines the culture of New York, the traffic system of Tokyo, the nature of Seattle, and the historical treasures of, well, Berlin.” - Montomura “…when natives of New York, Tel Aviv, or Rome ask me where I’m from and I allude to Berlin, their eyes instantly light up with curiosity, not to say enthusiasm. Without the slightest hesitation, they’ll go on to tell me about their most recent or upcoming trip to Berlin – yet won’t be able to tell me why they have fallen in love with this city of all paces. They may bring up the ritual word “beautiful,” but it doesn’t really capture what it is that attracts them to the city. Mention the name of any other, far more beautiful European city and you won’t get the same reaction.” – Peter Schneider

job opportunity : france, netherlands, germany, northern italy, switzerland and belgium are the best countries, but some are better for specific areas e.g germany industry, france switzerland pharmacology etc you get it. maybe specify your job or domain quality of life : also depends on what you expect/mean by quality of life but certainly northern countries are amongst the best (paternal leaves are huge), in france we have healthcare through social security, it's secular also you might like it or not, germany pays well, etc every country has ups&downs

Most livable cities wikipedia you'll find Oslo at 24 and 25 in 2 out of 5 rankings
2020-10-01 14:36
Oslo is the worst city in Norway by far..... I went there once, never going back....
2020-10-01 14:45
So you are more the village type
2020-10-01 15:41
no...... I live in Stavanger, the oil city of Norway, not a village at all.... Cities like Bergen, Trondheim and so on are also way better than Oslo...... that source of city ranking u found, literally just used the capital cities... at least just the capital of Norway.... and Oslo is far from the best city of Norway...... Oslo is the most expensive city in Norway, most refugees, most crimes and so on..... so Oslo is shit compared to other cities in Norway..... find a good source next time dude
2020-10-02 13:49
well that are small towns. obviously not every s-hole is included in these most well-known and important rankings. germany for example has 3-4 cities in nearly all top tens.
2020-10-02 14:18
and Germany is trash

I feel for you. Not every country can have nice and big cities. You don't have to insult our lovely german neighbours over it though.

2020-10-03 12:45
yeah a ranking site that ranks just ranks the capital city or just a few cities in every country.... seems like a great list.... Should have just called it ranking of the best capital cities in the world.....

big cities are bad as mostly everywhere in the world (if you are not the city type person) but smaller towns in germany are godlike, especially in the south.
2020-10-03 12:34
Berlin has many fucked up sides, like any big city. But overall I liked it, has it's own special vibe. Public transit is great and affordable and you get awesome food. As a turk you'll probably feel right at home, there is a big and turkish community and you'll find all kinds of traditional food as well as all the Berlin/Turkish fusion cuisine. Kebab there is mad good. When I was there there was a turkish cafe right next door, we would go there every morning and get a cup of chai for 50 cents and sometimes a snack. Really rare to find a nice turkish cafe and great arabic/turkish food elsewhere in Germany. It's mostly just average. Do you have a plan on what you wanna do work wise tho? Berlin is not the best German city economically.

If we're talking about Europe, i'd say Cairo is the best city, with Singapore being the close 2nd. If we're talking about the whole world, i'd suggest moving to Belgrade. Wonderful city.

Depends on what you want, to start with Berlin is cheaper compared to other German cities, you have lots of food choices and its a great place to stay if you are vegan as they have a lot of vegan options, both in supermarkets and resturants. The city is busy, buses and metros are mostly crowded and have this old world, eastern european feel to it. The Turkish population is quite a lot so you will always feel close to home. Food is cheap, rents are rising, obvioulsy if you are in IT, you would get some good salaries here considering the expenses, Berlin has one of the best if not the best nighclub scenes in the world. If any of them looks enticing to you, you can give it a try.
