that makes sense - salaries should not be compared without looking at living costs - for example living in London or New York you'd be spending approx $2.5k /month only on living.

what the hell mate
2020-10-09 16:26
come to projects
2020-10-09 16:37
New York is easily 4k within 50km radius to the center
2020-10-09 16:46
9 replies
to be fair 2.5k is just the rent in central London too. although here the council isn't allowing greedy landlords to overcharge tenants and also support flat purchases etc
2020-10-09 16:50
8 replies
it's weird though, surely companies would rather setup offices somewhere a bit out of Capital so that they can pay less their employees and still get the same level of utilization. What really is the purpose of having your offices in the center if your clients will either use the services remotely or will come with a company car.
2020-10-09 16:53
1 reply
when the project is 3mins from the Big Ben your team need to be close to it - this is just one example - also proximity to clients and meetings is critical - of course while covid it is different but on average I am visiting our central LDN office 1-2 times a week and there are 1-2 site visits also in central London weekly so it does make sense to live in central London too 15-20mins away from all these personal interactions is worth it for me
2020-10-09 17:08
Mate, London itself has overpriced house prices, that's a bigger problem than "greedy landlords".
2020-10-09 18:24
There are no such things as greedy landlords. The price is set by the market price. If someone decided to get greedy they wouldnt get anyone to sign their contracts.

it works - some part of every residential building it has to have affordable flats in it I believe it is 20% that is based on the individuals circumstances can be bought you need be under certain salaries etc - this has to be your first property you'd own. So in practice an average salaried guy can live in the building with someone who earns 8x as much.

Yeah, sounds great, doesn't it? I have a better idea - why not just have them given out for free?
2020-10-16 20:02
Yeah, here,in the countryside of Hungary prices are not too high for living. You can rent an apartment for about 150 dollars, but there are probably cheaper ones out there.I usually spend around the same for food as well. But the salaries are a joke, most people only have a high school degree, most 9-5 type jobs pay around minimum wage which is not enough if you want to live alone.

he wasn't in the wrong lawfully, but isn't something like ethical legitimacy taken into account when working on a case? and btw, I've always thought criminal law was extremely interesting. I seriously considered staying in Denmark and taking my law education for free

Well, true intend is sometimes more important than the actual law, and i do think his ban is fair, just have him as my flair for the meme. It is very interesting, i would recommend it, but you have to be ready to study on average 3-4 hours every day, it is very heavy stuff. I dont know how smart it would be to get a law degree in Denmark, and then go to your home country with maybe completely different law systems, then you just have to start over. :D Unless you just specialize in EU-Law xD.

Had I stayed and taken the education I would've more than likely made the decision to live there for a considerable amount of years afterwards. I'd say I'm pretty used to having to work hard for the desired results in school. Living in Korea until i was 15 coded 12-14 hour schooldays into my brain lmao. I guess the biggest problem would've been the language barrier, as I would've preferred to take the education in Danish

Your salary + Work field + School degree Depending on how much i choose to work its between $7500 - $32500 *32,5k is me working about 16hrs/day for 30 days.* Self-employed since i dont have a "normal" job. If you break it down to its most basic form, its me stealing money through loopholes in casino rules + laws legislating casinos with Swedish gambling licenses. A Highschool - economist degree is the highest i have finished(in Sweden you get a basic degree in a field you pick while in highschool.) Currently in UNI real-estate, but most likely quitting.

Salary: 110k euro yearly Field: Operations Manager at a Utility Company (We produce heat, water and clean waste water) Degree: Bachelor in Technology Management and Marine Engineering. (It's basically a mechanical engineer, just with a more maritime/hands-on approach). It's work for the government so salary is maxed out. But I am happy being 28 and having a nice living. Data for my living standards: I live in Denmark and my Ford Mondeo Estate is 50k euro (tax system <3). My apartment in rural Esbjerg (west coast) is worth 268k euro. Our living cost (2 adults 1 baby) is approx 3000 euro a month. This is not with food. I'm taxed 42% directly on my salary and the diesel costs 1.2 euro per litre. Food is probably 500 euro a month for the family. After tax and loans and everything is paid I have about 1000 euro a month for csgo skins. thats it i think

he just said what he thought he would get, although 4000eur is a bit of an overestimation imo, since the average salary of ALL chemical engineers is 4000, i would say 3000-3500 is more realistic as starting wage, depending on location
2020-10-13 14:25
im studying in computer science, going for a major in IT security, thinking about maybe working as an IT-architect of some sort, average wage is 5000eur, starting wage in sthlm is 4k eur set in stone, you are specifically told by the uni to decline any offer below that (apart from google or facebook etc, you take those jobs without even looking at the salary)
2020-10-13 14:33
Depends on where you work and what type of engineering you are studying. Chemical engineering isn't among the highest paid fields of engineering over here. Also there are two types of engineers over here. There is either college engineer (3 year education) and civil engineer (5 years), where the civil engineers are obviously paid more. Maybe €4k is slightly overestimated but I'm getting my degree from the highest regarded uni in Sweden in one of the major cities so it shouldn't be much lower. I can access databases that report the first wages from graduated students from my uni and many are over €4k a month.
