They will be such a disappointment. I actually feel bad for Henry.
lmao I bet with a mindset like that your idea of a good team is taking top 5 of the year and just putting them in a team.
I mean if you thought after their initial announcements that he was just gonna buy the best players from the best teams then you can't really be helped tbh.
They actually look pretty good to me. Could easily see them performing well and being a top 10 team
I would not judge before the play, people said the same for CoL and they did well
im really not sure what you were expecting
They'll be relevant in 6months, I dont see them top 5 but solid playoff team
The most recent international team to be built was OG, and they are consistently top 10 in the world these days, so lets see how the players compare:
Alex vs Aleksib - Both decent IGL's with not terrible fragging ability. While Alex had more success on Vitality, he did have Zywoo performing at his best. I'd say these two are about equal.
Woxic vs Mantuu - Mantuu has come alive since he joined OG, performing consistently well. While Woxic has had his fair share of inconsistent patches, we've seen that on his day he can be a top AWPer, so if he can get settled and get some consistency, he can probably reach those heights again. As with the IGL's, I'd say these two are fairly similar in skill level.
Es3tag vs Valde - This is I guess the battle of the riflers. Es3tag has performed great while being on Astralis (possibly even better than Xyp9x?) and will carry great form into this C9 roster. Since joining OG, Valde hasn't really struck me as the special player that he used to be, so I'd give this match up to Es3tag. Just.
Floppy vs Issaa - This is where the two sides begin to get set apart. Floppy was insane - albeit against Tier 2 opponents - for the duration of his time on the old C9 roster, and as he's so young there's no doubt in my mind that he will continue to improve. Certainly giving this one to Floppy
Mezii vs NBK - These last two don't really match up to each other, but regardless, it's pretty clear that NBK is in the later stages of his career now, and probably isn't going to improve. Mezii, on the other hand, is an up and coming prodigy, and - even if he isn't now - will likely eventually eclipse NBK's skill level.
Ultimately, we won't know the true fate of this C9 roster until February or March next year, but to write this team off at such an early stage is just naive in my view.
I mean let's put it this way. We will consider OG and Col.
BlameF (at least in fragging ) > Alex=AleksiB. They literally have the same accomplishments and similar stats. Got a team to 2 in the world slightly above 1.00 fraggers.
Woxic > Mantuu and Poizon. This is not even close. Woxic is a proven LAN player.
Valde > Konfig = Estag You may say that Konfig is better then both but when he was signed he was a shitter. Estag is the one coming in extremely hot. Valde is the clear winner here but it's not by a huge margin over either player.
Floppy > Obo > Issa I don't see how this could be argued but I'm sure this is the one that people will have the most consternation about. But remember Floppy was dominant. Even against Tier 1 NA teams and he was good on LAN before Covid. Obo was still an unknown quantity. Issa has not been good since the HR days.
NBK = Mezzi > Rush NBK has experience and has been a good fragger but he's majorly on and off now. Rush is good at throwing utility. Mezzi has what the other two don't and that's potential to get much better.
So I mean. All things considered I think C9 have the best of the three new teams. As far as the money goes you really have no idea what Col or OG paid but I doubt it was much less.
The real loss for OG, Complexity and C9 is that EG bought NRG for 3 million dollars. That in retrospect was an absolute steal.
