RIP 44k per month

Esetag is a good player but definitely not worth 4x of floppy salary per month. He had been good only in a season yet... Coldzera had been too once

do you even know what that 2M includes? its 3 year salary + buyout Also im pretty sure you arent eligible to make that conclusion

ik what it includes and its just too much for that kind of player. idk why i couldnt express my opinion about that on a csgo forum, especially in a thread specifically about it.

The sport is getting bigger and so are salaries and buyouts. Buyouts pretty big for everyone in like top 15. Thats what the market is right now.

u realize csgo has been in a steadly decline of players for the past half year right?

And that doesnt mean a single shit when we are talking about e-sports as an industry.
2020-10-16 20:38
true but thats because csgo is 8 years old CS as a franchise still has a huge potential; if they release a new version (and rename the terror stuff to basic attackers/defenders) they will have a huge boost in players and guess who is gonna be the top pros in such a game at the beginning
2020-10-16 21:15
Biggest value es3tag has is that he is like swiss knife. He can be pretty good at almost anything you need him to do. That is rare in CS and is basically dream of any IGL, because you know he can be star/carry in position X but you know he will be still really good in position Y which is worse than X. My point is you can give better positions to floppy and woxic and get more out of them and es3 will still be really solid.

they will be top 10. They probably expect top 5. if they want that they need floppy to be like oBo w0xic to go back in form (at least when LANs come back) ALEX not to be a scam and mezii hopefully does well

The entire deal went for $2.1 mil, the buyout is believed to be $500k so that means $1.6 mil for salary over 3 years. 1.600.000 / 36 = 44k
2020-10-16 00:33
1 coldzera 1 season are you delusional lol? He was very VERY solid and consistent until faze move, his first event with negative stats was only when he joined faze clan last yea 2 if you know something about USA is sneaky contracts that have very many conditions and statements, easily coupled with average monthly rating for example. Gringos are not the ones easy giving money be sure

The 2.1million includes buy out price since he just came from Astralis with a tournament win I guarantee it was high. Floppies was low because he was already on Cloud9 so didn't need to get bought out just a salary.

Another Q then, when is it "too much"? The reason I ask for comparison is because of relativity. Any other world wide broadcasted team sport has more money. It all comes down to investment and return. If you can calculate to make $10.000.000 in merch sale by creating a team for $6.000.000 is it a pretty good deal. As an entertainment value I don't think there is "too much money" in pro cs. I don't think there is enough money. If we also want betting and such, the pro players need to be paid high enough salary to make match fixing easy resistible. Match fixing usually becomes a problem when players are easily paid more throwing than they make from playing. I just find the statement interesting and I am curious why you think that.

low iq, Cold was the best player in cs back to back years and was still showing it. His buyout was $1m for a good reason because he showed he was worth that much. Es3tag plays for astralis in a tournament does good and makes his buyout $500k. This makes absolutely no sense, HenryG is low IQ and so is cloud9 for thinking retired casters can build a good CS team.

2020-10-16 16:12
buyout is $1m 2.1 -1 = 1.1 1.1 / 36 = 30k per month

Is he a solid player with great consistency? Yes. Is he good enough to live up to that salary? Probably not. But then again, what does it matter? C9 are the ones who have to live with signing that deal.
2020-10-16 16:27
What you need to understand is C9 has to give es3tag a financial incentive to leave the best team of all time to start a brand new team with players of a lower calibre. When you say he isn't worth 4x the price of floppy, you need to think about what C9 has to do make him leave behind playing with the most legendary players of all time. It doesn't mean he's 4x better. Also floppy hasn't done much to earn a higher market value. Es3tag has been in better form in Astralis than usual, which is normal when when you get put with teammates that good, which defenitively has made him a bit overrated though, that is true.
2020-10-16 16:32
How I said in my thread 'es3tag is overrated' but ofc fanboys are all like: 'omgg he is legend he is playing various roles he is versatile blablabla' he was literally almost in every game worst or almost worst in team
2020-10-16 20:49
If Esetag earn 44k $/month, Xyp9x will 50-60k $
