The fun in competitive has it's own level until you find some "retards" or some hackers which can sometimes lead to something else than fun.

you know how many ppl grind for a pro football career for like 10years before giving up? (a lot)
2020-10-16 20:58
Failed esports career : - overweight / underweight - addicted - very bad socially - very bad health Failed football career: - many social contacts - very healthy body - not addicted to football

Just because you want to be good at a game doesnt mean youre addicted, and when you want to be a pro footballer doesnt mean youre not addicted.
2020-10-18 22:30
If you spent 10+ hours a day playing one video game and its your only hobby the chances for you getting addicted are very high. Also its impossible to become addicted to football.

Nice, grinding football grants you ; physical attractiveness(probably), healthiness, human interactions etc. grinding pc for 10 years will most likely cause overweight, bad shape and health problems, probably being socially awkward as well. good arguement.

Gonna get philosophical on this bitch, but what are we alive for? Making money or enjoying our lives? I for one can't wait till the next industrial revolution takes away pretty much everyone's need to work and we can spend the entirety of our days on things that make us happy, instead of slaving away for a buck. For me that wouldn't be gaming, but if gaming all day is your thing and our level of technical advancement has reached a point where we can be sustained by robots and A.I. so that it's not necessary for people to work, do your thing man.
2020-10-16 20:46

2020-10-19 09:20
Nah, I want to be a football-coach. Help kids get the fundamentals of football down. Paid jobs in that are very hard to find, but in the ideal world were we wouldn't have to work anymore I'd be doing that fulltime. It's as I said, you can find things that give you fulfillment instead of just surviving.

2020-10-16 20:32
Are you implying that in the grand scheme of living, there is no such thing as ‘wasting time’ in this momentarily consciousness we call life? I agree, objectively there simply is no right or wrong. Especially on how time is spent.

2020-10-16 20:33
Tbh it depends Gaming will never be a waste of time for me because without it i would be living a high stress life. I work 80 Hours a week. When i get home i hop on discord with my online friends and we grind out and relax. That will NEVER be a waste of time. If you game when you have stuff you should be doing, then yes If you game 24/7 then yes even if you’re good at it. Look at CsGo pros, they’re awkward people who can’t do interviews because they spent their life indoors playing CsGo, yea it made them millions but that’s a small minority. A lot of people grind like them and never go pro. Waste of time then
2020-10-16 20:35
idk i am not stressing and not playing games, but i sex everyday and everytime i want ;)
2020-10-16 20:37
It's actually pretty sad that there are probably millions of kids and teenagers out there who believe they'll be pro one day but the truth is only 0.1% of them will succeed and for the rest of them it'll be nothing but disappointment and wasted hours
2020-10-16 20:50
If everyone thought like that nobody would be pro. Even though chances are slim , it's possible but will it make you happy ? I don't know
2020-10-16 20:54
This happens in any sport and in a lot of areas, like acting, singing and etc
2020-10-16 21:07
It’s a reality of life. Pareto distribution it’s called. For the one genius we see there are hundreds who wasted away trying to be in his position whom we will never acknowledge.
2020-10-16 21:15
There’s plenty of pros who aren’t socially awkward tho Twistzz, Shroud, S1mple, Pashabieceps, Niko, Hunter, Tarik, automatic, Stewie just naming a few
2020-10-16 21:21
I find those who have been in the public pro scene the longest, or are streamers are less awkward. Also Americans.
2020-10-16 21:37
True the newer players seem to be pretty awkward
2020-10-16 23:52
80? Do you also work on weekends and how many hours do you spend per every weekday?
2020-10-19 00:13
Well i work 12 Hours Monday to Saturday. Some days can be longer but averages out to 80.
2020-10-19 18:56
80 hours a week...lol nt
2020-10-19 09:31
first we should ask ourselves what 'time' means, on this concept. waisting it implyies that you're supposed to be using it in another way.. so if you're not doing important things for gaming, than yes.. if not, then no, every time you spend on yourself is not really waisted
2020-10-16 20:36
What if you don't know what to do else and you just sit playing games for hours and hours everyday after work ? Is that a waste of time ?
2020-10-16 20:37
then no, if you have nothing to do and don't game you'll find something else to 'waste' time on.. do musicians waste time when playing guitar? do people waste time reading romance? again, it leads to 'what are you supposed to be doing', if you're not replacing important tasks for gaming, it's not time wasted people see gaming as a meaningless activity, but gaming improves your hand eye coordination, it teaches you about topics that you'd never stumble upon in regular ways, it helps with your decision making skills, it can help you with communication skills.. hell, it helped me to improve 2 languages with it..

is waste of time a waste of time?
2020-10-16 20:36
It depends. If it takes your attention away from more important things, which are left undone because of gaming, then it's waste of time. If you have couple of free hours, then it's just a form of entertainment
2020-10-16 20:36
bold of you to assume i wouldn't find another way to procrastinate
2020-10-18 22:48

2020-10-18 23:35
i can assure you that is not the case
2020-10-19 12:32

It depends on what you play and how much you play. Like any other artistic medium has the ability to give us lessons and give us lessons, not all games are just "point and shoot" there are very good titles hidden out there, Inside, Firewatch, Celeste, Spiritfarer. On the other hand, games are stimulating and entertaining, so they can help you emotionally, as well as being a great social medium. On the other hand, if you play too long, you may be losing many things in your life by playing, it's like watching movies, watching 1 is fine, watching 4 in one day...

its a complete and utter waste of time and the probabilities of you making money from video games are slim to none, stay in school, work hard, make friends, live your life and dont worry too much about games except for fun. It's completely fine to play competitive and to waste time, we're all wasting time one way or another anyway but yeah, its time wasted. At least make it "fun" time wasted.
2020-10-16 21:11
What more could you have accomplished if videogames wasn't a thing? Are you satisfied with where it have led you as result? Either way playing videogames is not something I feel regrets about, in contrast to decisions and actions I've made in real life.

Depends what you want to do, if you know you can go pro and believe in yourself then no, it's really not a waste of time if you're trying to have fun or go pro, it's just a hobby, just like playing football or any other sport. Everyone has some kind of free time thing that they do.
2020-10-17 00:17
no, but exaggerations can be bad , it all depends on your life and what you make of it.
2020-10-17 01:33

Yes, unless you are having fun and enjoying yourself. People who play video games to just tryhard and win, are completely wasting effort. Games should only be played after all work is done

If you are getting memories then it's fine. But I don't really see the point in playing a game that nobody, even yourself, will care about or remember in 2 years.
2020-10-17 03:12
Regulated gaming isn't, addicted gaming obviously is. If you have a healthy schedule and you manage to stay within it, you're a healthy doodle boy. If it's chaotic and often spans across the entire day, well, you're wasting your life away.
2020-10-17 03:20
How can any hobby be a waste of time? As long as it brings some joy to your life without interfering any other social activities go for it
2020-10-17 03:28
no gaming is a hobbie, therefore isn't a waste of time +you can make money in several ways by gaming streaming being ytber going pro etc
2020-10-17 03:37
If you aren’t having fun or making minimum wage then yes, if you are then it’s not. With love and respect, zupergamer
2020-10-17 06:57
if you think it's a waste of time then it is a waste of time to you and you probably shouldn't be doing it if you don't think it's a waste of time and you have fun playing or you do it because it's competitive then continue doing it almost every single thing in life can be considered as a waste of time to someone else if you want to sleep - sleep, if you want to play video games - play video games, if you want to read books - read books.... don't let other people tell you how to live your life

I believe so, but at the same time I don’t think it’s bad, you’re not doing something productive while playing something, unless you’re a professional player who makes money and works with it. But, on the other hand, it gives you happiness as a hobby, just like watching a movie or a series, and it is not wrong to spend your time on it, you HAVE to be happy, as long as that happiness is regulated, there is no point in spending the all day playing, too much of something causes a lot of problems

If the game makes you miserable then it is a waste of time. Most games do exactly that.
2020-10-17 10:38
+1 unfortunelty - that is why I stopped gaming alone, I do it only with my friends to have some fun from time to time.
2020-10-17 10:48
is it waste of time walking the woods, fishing with no catch etc? Its the same question... If you have fun, its never a waste of time.
2020-10-17 11:14

I game when I can, I don't think its a waste if you're having fun
2020-10-18 22:32
Yes!
2020-10-18 22:33
Depends. If you're using it to distress and chill after a doing something productive to you, then it is great. If you're making money from it and it's sustainable, then it is great. If you're having fun and it is not negatively affecting your life, then it's good. But, if you solely play because you're addicted whilst having no ambitions, goals, a job, education and its negatively affecting your well-being, then yes, it is a waste of time. Because sooner or later, when you enter the real world, you will face a lot of hardship. That's why keeping a balance is essential.
2020-10-18 22:45
The ultimate goal of life is to essentially be happy, now if gaming makes you happy then it cant be a waste of time.
2020-10-18 22:46
Definetely waste of time.
2020-10-18 23:37
Life is a waste anyways so who cares
2020-10-18 23:41
Yes and No If you treat it like a hobby and don't care much about ranks and shit its not a waste of time If you treat it like a hobby and then cry about not getting faceit 10 and knowing all the smokes etc, its a waste of time I was the second one btw but i stopped at lvl 8 years back
2020-10-18 23:41
Yes, but outside of eating and reproducing everything else is a waste of time so.
2020-10-18 23:49
If it makes you happy, then no. In the end, life is about feeling happy. The trick is to keep gaming addiction at bay, don’t let it affect your left negatively. I personally become very distracted by games when i really need to study and that’s something i’m working on.
2020-10-19 00:14

Yes and no. Yes: - Gaming is a waste of time because in most cases, it doesn't bring anything productive to you as a person, other than investing your team in something that has little to no benefits in any way. - It might cause health issues, we are talking about eye conditions, wrist wrist pain, back pain etc. - Gaming can drag you in to a comfort zone, where it might stop you from doing things that can actually help you grow from a professional point of view in regards to a career you can actually make money from and from a social point of view because a virtual interraction is not the same as a physical one. No: - We all feel the need to play from time to time, to relax our mind and lose focus on issues going on in your lives (but too much might harm you). - It can actually benefit you, if you play games that can stimulate your mind or maybe you can learn a foreign language. Can't think of anything else right now...

To much of anything can be deemed bad if you can't make a living off doing it. Most kids who play sports through college are 'wasting' their time as the majority will not go pro. However, when you consider all the avenues that sports provides through relationships and knowledge it could very well lead to a job in sports just not as one of the competitors. Look at what Moses has been able to accomplish through professional gaming in 1.6. Never was the top top and didn't make money for down the line in terms of living. However, I am sure it's what led him to getting back into CS. If you are a gamer and want to become a pro always act professionally to the best of your ability. Your dream may never come true but you never know where the journey may take you with-in the community you are a part of. And for those that never make it just remember always being doing something on the side (that is a back-up plan) because either you will burn out and have to start over from scratch with something new or you will be financially stable enough down the road with that other job that it allows you to stay competiting at an older age;

Everything is a waste of time if you should be doing something else.
2020-10-19 09:23
If you're having fun, no, if not, yes.
2020-10-19 09:25
Yes, cuz all the achievements u get is nothing for real. They will lost and even u ll forget how much time u spend so its just waste of time if u play competitive games but if u just play 4 fun its not waste cuz u spend u time 4 with friends or resting

Only if you're sacrificing your life priorities like work, school and other things like social life, your health, sports, etc. Gaming in general is healthy for the brain and mind, teaches fast reflexes and brain exercises.

Nothing is a waste of time if you enjoy doing it, what a dumb question bro We can say playing a guitar or painting is a waste of time because it also doesn't give you anything By that rationale all you should do is work and study for whole day
