Just me or is buying a house together weird?

I often see people put pictures " we (gf and I) just bought our first house!" I have a few issues with this. - Considering how easy it is to lose your assets as a man during divorce, why do they do this? - IMO if you can't buy the house yourself (i.e you need partner's money too) then you can't afford it and shouldn't buy it. - I don't like the idea of living with a woman. Not sure what's the solution to this. Maybe because I don't want her touching/moving my things. I'd rather date a woman and live separately.

wait so in usa if a man buys something before marriage then marries and divorces his ex can still legally take it?
2020-10-20 20:20

No, anything you owned before a marriage is still yours. If you get inheritance from something or someone that is also indisputable. Some states divide assets acquired during a marriage based on income and other factors, while other states divide things closer to 50/50 even if 1 doesn't work. There are other factors, like why the divorce happened? are there children? length of marriage? etc. There are also prenuptial agreements that can be made. For example your could have an agreement that no assets will be shared during marriage.

and if they die?
2020-10-20 20:22
You'll grow and understand, don't worry. Here's a reasoning for it: You can divide the payments and the two of you pays (and have) 50% of it. If you split up, you sell with profit (housing hardly lose value) and split the difference. Even if you can afford more than her, you still have 50% plus the % of the aid you give her to complete her part. It's that simple, if done well there's no harm. If at the end one wants to stay in the house but do not have the money for buying your part, you can collect the difference in monthly payments. I know a dude who broke up after two years and they decided to rent the house and split the gains monthly. Ending a relationship is not the end of the world, dudes. Do not trust cucks that say 'mah wife took half', this only happens if you're a full on idiot OR she does deserve it and you're in denial.

what do they have to do to be a full idiot? I say this because literally someone who lives on my street who is a doctor ended up losing a house and he owned.

Usually something against the law, but this varies depending on the country. One common mistake would be cheating - on such cases, the 'cheated' party did not antecipated the end of the relationship and can be seen as a 'vulnerable' and 'harmed' - this usally ends with some sort of alimony or wealth division forced by a judged. Another thing that is very common is one party asking for more than they should or another not agreeing to a fair split, so they go to court and things escalates out of control. Using your doctor-neighbor as an example is kinda hard to say, but if they had kids and the wife could prove that 1. she was not the one that wanted to end OR she had a very good reason for it and 2. she can't afford to keep raising the children on her own, stuff like that could happen. There are some schmucks that are so deep into being idiots that they end up losing the house, the kids and has to still pay monthly fees - these ones usually has some serious shit to hide or they got caught cheating red-handed. Also, make no mistake - someone that makes (or allows) his partner to stay at home while he brings the income and later when they break up he says he payed for all of it, is one this type of idiots i'm mentioning. What happens here is that 1. one party gave up their carreer for supporting family and now they're left with nothing; 2. with income good enough, you should be able to rebuild yourself while the other party won't. Again, please note that this varies A LOT considering the country

I am scared and read that it can and often gets "thrown out" in court. What about her being my gf and not marrying but telling everyone that we are married?

An option but if you get kids together she will still get the kids + 50% of your money according to finnish feminist laws. There's no way of winning as a man in scandinavia, if you want to be with a woman you just have to accept the risk edit: and yes 44% of the time prenups get thrown out in the courts, which happens if the judge deems them too "unfair"

Yes. Fun fact: in Denmark 88% of divorce cases children custody is given solely to the mother, 10% equal and just 2% to the father. Finland is the same....
