I mean I am very afraid of the Chinese regime, but when it comes to renewable energy China is a pioneer. I am also optimistic that it will be possible to resolve differences peacefully. The world must not make itself so dependent on China. Just don't buy Chinese products. The problem is that everyone wants to have a "good" product at the lowest possible price. Because of the bad working conditions and the low wages you get this with Chinese products

The world's natural shifts has nothing to do with our politician's. The only thing humans can do is make changes to the world's natural changes. Witch probably is dangerous

Yeah sure, but that is exactly what the politicians determine. The economy adapts to it. The problem what still exists is that far too many jobs depend on finite raw materials. This is actually sometimes the reason why there is no radical change.

If all of the ice on earth melted, the sea level would rise about 70 meters. Still would be terrible, but 100 meters isn't going to happen. There's just not enough water.

Also how much would the worlds temperature have to rise for 100% of the worlds ice to melt anyway?
2020-10-22 03:51
1 reply
That depends completely on how long of a time frame you're looking at. Currently we're expecting 0.3-2.5 meters by 2100. It'll take many hundreds of years for it all to melt even in a worst case scenario, thousands at our current rate. The worry is that our models aren't all that great, but so far they've been pretty good. Also, we don't need sea levels to rise 70 meters to cause massive displacement, much less would be enough.

Bruh climate.nasa.gov >sea has risen so much >3.3 millimeters a year even by the most outrageous leftists predictions 100 meters rise will not be possible until at least 2100. This issue is too entangled in politics, but it's definitely not that bad. It's an anomaly in terms of temperature yes, but it's a rise of 2 FARENHEIT since 1880. It is highly debatable whether even the same rise would cause any catastrophies on the scale proposed by OP. P.S. We in Kiev would chill regardless
2020-10-21 16:12
hahaha actually no it's a natural phenomenon that climate is changing, however it's going way too fast compared to what nature usually does, potentially because it's not natural, potentially because it's caused by humans, so sea level will potentially raise by 100m also earth is not flat

Not making an argument in favour or against, but my quick maff tells me that it woulkd need close to 500 years to that to happen, and if you see other patterns a WWIII or equivalent conflict would happen way sooner, after that (unless we fuck it up really BIG) we will basically poor af, we would stop our consumism trend for at least 40 years, so most likely the global warmig effect generated by humans would be stun'd a bit

Believe in this then: could deploy masive coolant solutions (a.k.a Heat Exchangers) powered by guess what? the most efficient energy generation ever made by men, nuclear power. Also, in future if we ever go full nuclear (pun intended) the pollution created from the biggest global warming human-made factor would be near 0, since what makes us pollute so much is actually energy production of the planet

My point is, we could cool back glaciers with enough energy put into it, and obviously a relatively "green" energy so we dont end up polluting more than what we freeze back global warming is both, human and nature made

Well evaporated water would go back into the earth surface in form of rain yes, but if we freeze back a lot of water with said heat Exchangers then we would reduce or hold the sea levels again ...and yes this is no small task, but once countries start getting flooded i think the whole global perspective about stuff will change drastically

Wouldnt be the first time. Water rising and falling as actually also a natural thing. many cities have been taken by water. others have been left because water levels got lower. People often forget there also is a natural part of climate change that will happen regardless of humans. That ofc just makes it even more important we begin to understand then and do better in how we take care of the planet we live on.

Finally someone with common sense
2020-10-21 16:17
1 reply
Well it is commen sense. Sadly most people dont understand the most basics of things. its simple science. The world have been warmer and colder than now. our universe and solar system pass through Ion clouds out in space. that is one of the main factors that makes it warmer and colder on the planet. Even if there where no humans on the planet. it would still get warmer than it is now. and colder again. its done so before its completely natural. Water rise and fall. iceages come and go. many things impacts the earth. and things can happen where smaller event change these things in regions to. Ice melts. its normal. also normal it comes back. Iceages normally comes after a period of warmth because of how it changes the flow of water in our oceans. And so on and so on. Sadly this information is also used by people to say we can trat the planet like a dump. and just use oil and all the other stuff like we want because well. global warming is to a large extend a natural event. However, the impact humans have on the planet does change it in many other ways. and might also impact natural events to be far worse. Might even make then have some sort of domino effect since we have a lot of major natural events that is long over do. ice age. the change of our electromagnetic poles. some super vulcanos. major earthquakes. and so on. These will make change our climate. our water level. and all that. might also kill most of the people on the planet. And its natural events that happen regardless. humans like to think they are in control of everything. but most people as said lack even the most basic understanding of the planet they live of. or the lives they themself live and the human world they are a part of. For how smart humans can be. most of us are really dumb.

Because Bolsonaro is delusional as well? Oh...my...god...did you just call me a racist? LOL, you Brazilians are really weird lol. "Yeah i dont agree with your president and i think you are delusional like him" "OH YOU RACIST?!" WHAT? lol. Please think before you type some bullshit comment man. You Brazilians are literally crazy when it comes to pulling the "xenophobic" card. Nothing in my comment was racist or "xenophobic", it was me literally saying that YOU and the president of Brazil are both delusional, lol.

Even if all glaciers and ice caps on earth melt, the water level would only rise 70 meters. Though by the time global warming is bad enough to literally melt all glaciers, we would have much bigger problems to worry about (breathing).
