RIP Intel?
Switzerland toastedgiraffe
Looks like the 5600X beats every Intel CPU at single thread performance. So for $300 you probably get a better gaming CPU than anything Intel has to offer (AMD already beats Intel at multithread performance anyway). techspot.com/news/87265-amd-ryzen-5-5600.. what's the point of buying intel if they are worse and cost more?

They plan to release next gen CPUs in the first quarter of 2021, but it won't be better than Ryzen 5000 probably.
2020-10-24 10:43
Next gen Intel CPUs won't be better than Ryzen 5000, that's why AMD raised prices so easily.
2020-10-24 10:42

2020-10-24 10:41
They are nothing near Intel behaveiour, perhaps you forget that prior to the Ryzen two generation the Intel chips cost about double. Plus also do not forget that for like a decade Intel kept sending out new "generation" of their chips, where said generation was more like facelifts except they often required one to upgrade mother boards ie. also paying Intel for a new chip set. AMD has promised to keep pushing the limits of tech, so far they have kept all their Ryzen road promises so no reason to think they will not keep their word going foward.

Well I'm glad you have faith in companies actually having decency and keeping to their word, but in my experience all companies just go all in on maximising their profits, especially if they know they have the best product, which AMD does.
2020-10-24 03:27
4 replies
Of course AMD will be maximizing profits, it is a company not a charity. However I am sure they will not the reputation that Intel has and also they are tiny compared to them. Also you can hardly say their pricing for their new generation unfair, essentially performance compared to the last generation has increased more than the prices. If it was Intel everybody would have expected prices going up, since it is their M.O. Also look at how AMD goes about things with their main boards and compare with Intel, you can put a new AMD CPU on a pretty old board and everything is fine while with Intel it is very different.
2020-10-24 14:11
3 replies
Yeah but they had to do things like make motherboards compatible because they were behind Intel in performance, and that was a way to make them more appealing to the consumers. My worry is just that they will stop doing these things now, because people will buy their stuff anyway, because they the best product, performance wise.
2020-10-24 14:36

Impossible that it will happen, no. But I think it is unlikely AMD turns into Intel - here is why: - AMD may be best right now, but Intel still holds a much bigger market share. - Part of why there is still an AMD is because they have fans, if AMD changes its spots they it will no longer be AMD and the fans will disappear. - AMD has said they will not slow down, that they will not stop pushing their development to the max. It is what helped them back on top performance wise, so not only will they not want to risk giving Intel a chance to catch up they also know what the fans expect. I expect that with the fourth generation of Ryzen there could be a shift to a new platform altogether, this because I think it will be DDR5 so with that it could be the end of the line for AM4 like maybe mid-2021. Only if this happens it still means even the latest AM4 chip sets was good for two generations, more than can be said for most of what Intel has been providing.
2020-10-24 14:58
you wont be able to buy a zen 3 cpu for like 6 months anyway lol AMD are just releasing x varients, strong rumours have it they're releasing the non-x cpus later on once demand isnt so strong. I can see millions of people wanting to make the switch.

2020-10-24 16:47
Amd was already better than intel last year. 10 frames extra don't matter on games like csgo when your multitasking is way better than intel, now intel has lost the only thing that they beat amd on last year
2020-10-24 00:04
I mean that's not really big news... People still acting like intel didn't purposefully cede the enthusiast CPU market years ago. They slashed their research teams for CPU manufacturing and restructured into data and cloud storage back in 2015. This isn't Intel losing ground to the little guy, it's them walking away from the battle and the internet acting like AMD is David. AMD is in the ring against the phantom of Intel. Intel was essentially pushing the bounds of our knowledge of physics when it came to CPU design and rather than spend the time and effort to continue to do that for what little gains and profit they would receive; they restructured into a market that is absolutely exploding with revenue. Don't get me wrong, it is true that AMD is superior to intel right now for anything except gaming (and with zen 3 it will be ahead in gaming also) but intel will just release their next +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ lake and then it will prob be 5% ahead of the zen 3 new shit for gaming lul

It's not just the enthusiast market though. Laptop manufacturers saw with the newest AMD chips that the performance to power consumption is way better with AMD. The next generation of laptops will have more and more AMD offerings. Better multi-threaded performance and competitive pricing makes sure AMD will be used in more workstation desktops as well. Intel is focusing a lot on cloud tech. Curious of how much of their revenue is cloud vs CPU. No way they are purposefully leaving the market IMO. They just have hard time competing with AMD's new architecture and TSMC's 7nm process.

AMD hypes up their benchmarks but then have poor single core processing or performance problems...if its not that they won't have the longevity the intel ussualy does. i'm just skeptical with AMD always because of this. you could be right this time though, maybe AMD is stepping up and creating a quality product.

Yeah but your cpu had a price of 600$ at launch, while the 2600x was 200$ and went to 80$ year later
2020-10-24 15:57
Do you play 3DMark? Do you play Cinebench? If you buy a CPU for gaming - guess what, you play GAMES, so till we have proper game tests - there's nothing to talk about. And also compare the prices: 5600X - 299$ i5-10600K - 263$ (cheaper by 12%) i5-10600KF - 238$ (cheaper by 20%) 5800X - $449 i7-10700K - 387$ (cheaper by 14%) i7-10700KF - 361$ (cheaper by 20%) So Intel is more than just fine in any case, and there's no way Ryzen will win vs Intel in games by as much as the more expensive than Intel it is.

2020-10-24 16:05
Talking about 10700K you forgot to mention, that you need to install a water cooling system so your system get this "K" boost to 5ghz, otherwise it will be basically the same as 10700, wich is worse, then 5600X. If i'll run at 5ghz w/o water cooling i'll overheat and throttle. Also remember about tdp, its rated like 125 but will be about 150-200, since 10900K has 240-280 tdp at max load. And 5600X is nowhere near it even at worst scenario. And remember that there is no PCI-E 4.0 support, neither it's motherboard will be up to date when 11 series comes out.
2020-10-24 16:40
1 reply
You cannot know what's better and what's worse in games because there's still no tests. Even if Ryzen 5000 somehow wins in games there's still no way it wins over as much as the price difference between them is, but for sure it will be known right after the first game tests appear, and not from AMD but from known 3rd party testers like techspot and tomshardware. As for PCIe 4.0 - there's PCIe 5.0 at the corner and current GPUs don't benefit from it anyway so it's no excuse for such huge price difference.
2020-10-24 17:22
you see new intel who comming ? AMD was and allways will be shit for poor people

2020-10-24 23:42
This is talking about your upcoming gen CPU beating the current gen CPU, I think we all know companies are not stupid, the consumers are. Intel and AMD knows they can't fight on each other head to head, or they will just let the consumers win. They have to beat each other, but they can't eliminate each other, so the only thing they can do in this duopoly market is to take turn to beat each other, that's how things work. AMD has some stuff better than Intel, but Intel also has stuff better than AMD. Intel is better in gaming, and that's one of the only reason people buy Intel, I just don't believe Intel will let AMD supersede Intel's CPU full scale, they will adjust their performance accordingly so they barely beat AMD in gaming. I know people are excited at AMD because they finally volunteer the work to bring competition to the CPU market against lazy and greedy Intel, but I don't think AMD is better than Intel, because Intel isn't even using 7nm node yet, so we shall see.
