Well, not gonna worry you, but ur ssd will not be enough. Real capacity of 250gb ssd is around 220gb, with Windows installed it gives you ~200gb. Tripple A games right now are easly over 100gb, even 150gb. Wait one month for 3000 series and collect 20-30$ more for ssd. I had to buy bigger ssd, cuz whem I installed Windows, gta5 and wow, I barely got space for valorant.

he has 1tb of hdd , and windows will not give you -200gb , windows with some apps is like max at 100gigs. i personally have a 1tb hdd for games and 128gigs of ssd m2 for just windows and csgo and i still have like 40gigs of space on my windows partition.

For a case I would go with a Cooler Master, NZXT, Corsair, be quiet, Fractal Design, Phanteks maybe Thermaltake one. You can't go wrong with any of these, but watch a review of it before you buy. For fans I would buy some from Arctic. They are very cheap, like 5 euro for a 120mm fan, and very good quality I heard. Also they usually come with a 6-10 year warranty.

2020-10-24 11:09

you got baited 9600k is old and doesnt even have hyper threading. Maybe it can have +5 fps in gaming but that doesnt even matter because the CPU usage is way to high because the lack of hyperthreading, and that would just get worse by time because softwares and games are designed for higher and higher core count. 10600k is different, it has hyperthreading. If you only want to gaming and the 10600k is not more expensive (it is usually for some reason) than the 3600 then go for it. Otherwise 3600 is the ultimate choise nowadays. But it's kind of dumb buying new PC atm, because the new AMD and Nvidia series are coming out in a month.
2020-10-24 11:34

I went with the build because I need it on a slightly urgent basis as my personal laptop died. But looking at the replies I might wait for 3060 to release after all 10600k is only slightly more expensive than the 3600, would you recommend the 10600k then?
2020-10-24 11:52
1 reply
I only recommend 10600k if the purpose is literally only gaming, and if the price is close to 3600. Otherwise, as i said earlier, the 3600 is the ultimate choise. Frankly i wouldn't even recommend the 10600k at all atm, because you can upgrade the 3600 to a Zen 3 variant in the close future, which will give a huge performance increase. While the in-coming Intel Rocket Lake (2021 Q1) will still be processed on 14 nm node, which means it won't be much better than their current generation, and if they finally go on a lower node process, the socket will surely change, which means there is nothing for LGA1200. Go for the 3600.
2020-10-24 12:03
3600 is the same shit. the difference will be only when rendered by cpu, which is rendered everywhere by graphic cards, and there will be no potential after 3 years, but I dont forbid dreaming. i have two: 9600k and 9700k and now Im comfortably waiting for the new generation of Intel but in place of this guy, without having anything, I would buy 10600 or 10700
2020-10-24 12:13
It has on average 10% better performance in benchmarks and higher FPS on ALL games across the board even when not overclocked compared to Ryzen 5 3600. 9600k can be overclocked, 3600 cannot. You don’t know what you are talking about.

u really should go for 10400F or 10600kf because they are at the same price of that ryzen and better overall. You can also wait for the new ryzen 5000 series to see if they are as good as amd say but a ryzen 5 5000 series will cost a lot probably. And about that rtx 2060 , idk about that cuz rtx 3000 series is just miles better.

just get intel core i3 10100 its like 100usd and better gaming performence and single core than the 3600, i dont think ull have any uses of more than 4 cores, get hte cheapest mbo, but whatever graphics card u have money for i3 10100 > amd 3600 in gaming performence and Intel Core i3-9350KF is also like 100usd, 10% better in benchmarks over 3600, crazy good value can overclock to 5ghz, if u want more cores go i5 9600k, same clock speeds but 6 cores instead of 4, way better than amd in gaming due to clock speeds.

May be go for something cheaper like 1660Super if you absolutely can't wait? You know, the more you spend - the more you will lose once a better piece of hardware is released. I don't know when it will be released, google it if you're interested in spending your money wisely. And also AMD is releasing new GPUs (6000 series) sometime in the near future so I wouldn't spend any money now... But it's me, you decide for yourself.

Personally, if your budget is maxed out, I would shuffle it around a bit to get a larger m2 drive and larger psu. Maybe find a cheap 2.hand gpu to use untill 3000-series are available. If you have 3-4 games that you play a lot, having then installed on ssd is so much better.

I see, I was considering getting a 1tb SSD and removing the HDD altogether From the 3000 series I'd imagine only the 3060 will be within my budget, and it seems I'll have to wait quite a while for its release. My first choice was 1660super but since I was getting 2060 on sale for pretty much the same price I thought I'd go with it instead. I'll look I to other mobos too, and might get a 650w psu

I sell computers for a living. Your build is pretty good. No compatibility issues. Good motherboard, good cpu. Are you using the cpu fan that comes with the ryzen 5? I think there are a couple things to consider though. You could change both the 1tb hdd and 250gb nvme for a 1tb SATA ssd and get a better cooler for your cpu. The benefit of this is increased cpu performance at the cost of slightly slower load times. If you were getting a 3000 series GPU I would definitely go with nvme, but with 2060 it's almost overkill. Overall I think your build is fine as is tho. You will be so happy with it and I hope you have fun building it and enjoying all the games.

Processor will probably bottleneck your GPU. I would rather buy better processor and get cheaper coolers without RGB.

I was initially planning to get 1660s but the 2060 was on sale for almost the same price, would you recommend I go for 1660 instead?

It depends on what games you want to run with it. For CSGO (since this is CS forum and I assume that you play mostly CS) processor is responsible for FPS. This is why personally, I would spend little bit more and go for Ryzen 7 3800X (8cores @ 3.6Ghz and 16 Threads) and still go with 2060. Of course if it's in your budget. Even if it's not maybe wait a little bit more to save $ so you can afford the build that will last at least next 4-5 years.
