when you play on a 144hz and switch to 60hz you will feel like the game is lagging

I've switched back and forth between 60, 75, and 120 Hz. I honestly don't feel any "lag" like you say.

Oh well some of us do When I watched my friend's monitor it looked like it was lagging but then I realized it was 60hz

There's definitely more ghosting on lower Hz, but I wouldn't call it laggy.

You won't feel difference if you're playing at 60 fps

2020-10-24 14:51
Of course cs skill is more important than refresh rate. But low refresh rate monitor puts limitations on your performance. Higher output lag/receive information with more delay compared to higher refresh rate monitor. What it means your shots are slower, your aiming is slower. The biggest bottleneck imo is stunted tracking aim. You don't receive information fast enough to efficiently track mobile targets. Also higher refresh rate helps controlling recoil better.

if your monitor refresh rate isn't synced up with the frames you get from your graphics card there can be delay. With higher refresh rates the worst case latency goes down. With 60 Hz you can have a delay off up to 16,7ms. With 75Hz its 13 ms and with 144 Hz it's at 7ms. Additionally it feels much smoother and you can predict the movement of your enemy better.

Although technologies like G-sync or FreeSync mitigate the worst case.

g-sync and freesync creates delay by design, because it works by storing frames in buffer before displaying on screen.

ah you are right, mixed something up. Although it should help if you don't reach higher fps than the refresh rate.
2020-10-24 15:14
Advantage for 144hz you see things more closely to what the game registers because it refreshes faster. I play 60hz no worries though.

Useless. Human reaction time is 200ms, which means it's pointless to have faster than 200ms per frame monitor. 5hz monitors is masterrace!
2020-10-24 15:06

Over 144hz is very fast anyway. Btw that 200ms time is only for physical reaction to visual stimulus, not time taken to process and notice visual stimulus. Humans process much faster times.

Ur dumb. 1second/200ms = 5fps. You don't need more than 5fps.

Teleporting is how I'd describe it too, this experience of playing cs on 60hz monitor. Can't track mobile targets at all, other than by luck/prediction.

Frequency = 1/Period 60Hz means your monitor, refreshes your screen 60 times per seconds. 144Hz... 144 times per second and so on. The game becomes more fluid, less ghosting and your eyes get used to it, so you become more competitive.
2020-10-24 14:55

2020-10-24 15:09
Higher hz is so much better since your screen updates faster and the game feels smoother than it will on 60hz compared to 144hz. I myself found my skill to increase a lot once i bought and used a 144hz monitor

The difference is not very big, but it exists. When you play against people who are equal or better than you in skill, you can get a little bit of an advantage from a monitor with a high frequency, a few milliseconds can help you to win.
2020-10-24 15:24
First of all your framerate (fps) should at least match your monitor frequency. 144 Hz - your monitor shows 144 frames per second. 144 fps - your GPU sends 144 frames per second to your monitor. If your GPU sends let's say only 100 frames (100 fps) - your monitor will show only 100 NEW pictures of gaming world, and 44 frames will just be the same which partially destroys what's those high-freq monitors are for. Ofc you will still have lower input lag from your mouse (which differs from one monitor to another) comparing to your 75 Hz office monitor but people buy high-freq monitors also to actually see more frames, which means seeing much more smooth moving of your enemies, and 144 updates of their position per second is more smooth than 100 updates. Fuck, these are just basics and too many people just don't know about it. That's how it differs: youtube.com/watch?v=pUvx81C4bgs

Lol you actually explained it like yiu are talking to a kid bro but still there will be some ignorant people who think its just a "marketing" strategy since they read about it in some article or shit They should actually play with both the monitors to compare them if you actually want them to believe Its the 60hz dumbasses who complain that there is no difference bw 60 and 144 while never having tried a 144hz or 240
2020-10-26 10:23
more hertz = more frame per second = u have more refresh and u can see enemy faster and more smooth

Not how it works.
2020-10-24 15:43
It makes your screen update faster which, in a competitive game like cs is very useful. It’s especially useful when you have to do stuff quickly (like mid pick d2) because your screen refreshes the frames where you can see the enemy more often.
2020-10-24 15:43
240 hz for me, it feels slightly better than 144hz tbh
2020-10-24 15:45
It won't give you much advantage but game is just so smooth so you can't go back to 60hz
2020-10-24 15:47
i dont fell like i ahve an advantage after i went from 75 zo 240 but it fells and looks a lot lot better

All I notice between 60 Hz and 120 Hz is that there is less "ghosting" with higher refresh rate. To me it really doesn't matter.
2020-10-24 15:52
Try it like this. get your FPS to stutter bellow of your HZ threshold and you will see how it feels going from 144 to 60
2020-10-24 15:58
60hz after 165hz looking like 30 fps. For example switch of weapons animation on 165hz is very smooth, on 60hz it looks like very fast slideshow of 4-5pics, u can easily count how much frames u see on this animation
2020-10-24 16:36
It feels a lot better to play and you would have an advantage in spotting the enemy faster because of the high refresh rate.

144 feels a lot smoother than 60, have both side by side daily
2020-10-24 16:41
reaction time surely improves
2020-10-26 09:21
its just more comfortable to play when everything is smoother when you feel more comfortable you (probably) play better
2020-10-26 09:23
i would bye the 240hz monitor. it is what the best players in the world are using and you can see alot of frames.
2020-10-26 09:31
I have switched from 60hz to 144 this week. It’s so different men, much easier to move/cross , it’s just great.
2020-10-26 09:38
After 3 days u get used to it and it feels again like 60hz when fps dropping below 200
2020-10-26 09:46
60hz 2700 elo 1.3kd faceit, if you're still young and not going to uni or anything, I'd definetly buy a 144hz, but since I'm gonna start school soon and won't have any time to really play, I think buying a 144hz is a waste of money.
2020-10-26 09:58
maybe with 144hz you are able to support a better club..

"144hz isnt unbeatable" Yeah when you have a bot like player playing with a 144hz monitor you can beat him dumbass, its not like he magically turns into s1mple behind a 144hz, his reaction time just gets better and screen is smoother And 75 is the same 60lol ,75 is just 60hz overclocked and when you oc a monitor it becomes less clear

Yeah exactly two players of the same skill level will do better with the higher refresh rate I dont get the idiots who play in 60hz for 3 or 4 years and when they beat someone with a 144hz monitor who has not played that much and start saying "It mAkEs nO diFFeRenCe cuZ i BeAt hiM"
2020-10-26 10:20
I bought 144 half year ago, when the game go ~60fps (fps game) it hurting my eyes and feel like the game is lagging.... I played on 60hz monitor like 10 years since cs 1.6. It is so good to have it but now i cant play under 100 fps
