How to stay focused/energetic after 4-6 hours of playing CSGO?
get |
Finland outofmyswamp
So me and my team have been playing alot of scrims recently, and we play usually 4-6 scrims per day, which is around 4-6 hours. But i start to feel that i'm unfocused after like playing 2 games in a row. It also impacts my performance in the scrims, like even though i'm an AWP player i found myself at 8 frags at a 30 round scrim (which is really really bad). Of course we take a 1h break in the middle, but it doesn't really help me that much since i still start to feel that i'm unfocused after a few games, especially on the evening. Can someone give me some tips on how i can stay focused? Thanks.

honestly, if u feel that way maybe u shouldn't be playing scrimmages after all, I mean, if u dont love 100% the game and have passion for it what is the point of grinding 6h a day No hate really, I just think maybe it's not for you if you lose focus, I guess the reason is that u don't put that much effort. But if I have to give any susffestion or tip I'd say keep playing and maybe you'll get more consistant with time, also don't play right before going to bed, sleep always 8h, drink a lot of water while u're playing etc GL in the future

i know, but it's not like i lack the motivation or passion, rather i just get exhausted like out of nowhere, and i am usually the one who would want to play more and more and grind alot but right now it's like i can play one good game and then the next game i play like a bot due to exhaustion, idk why man, but thanks for the advice tho.

nice man, but the thing for me is that i don't really control when we play, since i play in a team and we usually play when some people say we're going to play and for how long aswell. I agree with you that i usually have 4-5 hours of peak form, but it's usually limited due to me going without proper warmup into our scrims sometimes XD (that's not a good habit but i'll try to get better with it kappa)

Try to go for a walk or hit gym before you start playing.

yeah but if i go to the gym it's my hands that get exhausted even though i'd feel energetic, so idk not the best option for me either. I usually go to the gym before prac anyways but not everyday tho, but those days that i do go my hands feel like shit

Just go for a quick walk (15-30 min), fresh air and getting distracted from the computer and cs should help. Give it a try :)

gonna have to fill my waterbottle tomorrow i guess, everyones telling me to be hydrated so i guess that's the key :D for real though i sleep well enough and eat healthily but i dont drink that much water when i play so it might actually be the water

Eating healthy, exercise, go for walks. Take short breaks and get some fresh air.
2020-10-24 23:00

well i cant really take short breaks when we're playing since we usually play 2-3 scrims in a row, then take a break and then resume. but during that break i usually go outside to mentally reset

Give yourself small goals to achcieve during the game. Such as giving X good flashes to your teammates, droping X bombs, having X% HS ratio and so on.

wow, that could actually work. I've never thought that it might be my own motivation, but that could actually keep me very motivated and focused throughout the game. Thanks so much for the advice, i'll try it next time i play

how are pro players then able to focus when they play like the same amount of scrims too? like there's gotta be something that they do that keeps them focused, and i'm trying to find the same thing
2020-10-25 10:44

They don't play that many scrims a day dude... No pro team plays 6 scrims in a day, that's exhausting and ruins quality of practice. A pro team will focus on getting as much out of as few scrims as possible, it's just a much more efficient way to learn. Rather than analysing 6 demos and improving from that, go for a super in-depth review of 1 demo. It's all about getting quality practice while maintaining a high level of quality.

Ok, you're actually right, i just realized that pros do demowatching and going to the server to learn utility or to plan strats rather than playing scrims all the time. The thing about my team is that right now we have an uncertain lineup and that's why we usually play scrims and try to get experience and to try and convince a guy to come to our team. It is also because of that uncertainty that we don't go and watch demos or prac utility. But once we get our team fully ready then i guess we'll do much more than play scrims, and that may help my issues aswell. So yeah, your right man. And thanks for the advice aswell.

Actually 4-6 scrims lines up with what pro teams have publicly said they did. Example would be: -1 hour theory -2 practice matches -1 hour break -2-3 practice matches -theory/debrief

Oh wow, didn't expect a reply like this but thanks for correcting me. Would it be 4-6 scrims every day, or just a few times a week? The extra theory to break up the games makes total sense.

Pracctice sport outside the game. This really helps.

I mean, sure pros put in 4-6 hours in cs go (at least 5 days a week). But, you are not being realistic. I highly doubt they play 6 scrims. And i am talking tier 1 - 2 teams. And even if a pro team does that, it´s not healthy. They focus on quality rather than quantity. It´s pointless to play 6 scrims. What i am trying to say is that, there are many ways to spend 6 hours in cs go e.g; Watching Demos, Training, Utility, Strats. In my opinion, it makes sense that you get exhausted from matching. Maybe if you diverse those hours you´ll be more hyped or could deal with it.

Start exercising. Anything will do for the first weeks/months: simple stretching, outside walks, bodyweight stuff like situps, push ups, jumping jacks, squats. Even nothing but meditation will make you feel healthier. If you are fat-ish, stop eating so much junk.

Get another hobby or game to play, where it’s way less demanding and you do it to wind down.
2020-10-26 09:43
5-7 min meditation between matches. Don't eat anything during game session, don't drink energy drinks with sugar and use caffeine in tables instead if you need some stimulation, but I'd recommend to rather drink good green tea mixed with herbs like ginkgo.
2020-10-26 09:34
I lose all of my energy for 2 weeks after playing 1 game of cs
2020-10-26 09:34
Don't do 6 scrimmages in a row. take a 30 minute break sometime and get outside, the best way to feel energised again is moving / excercise and the daylight. So if you've done 2 matches and feel awful, go take a walk outside for 20 minutes and you'll feel much better after
2020-10-26 09:35
i think it depends a lot on your age. You can see it in the current era, with older teams like vitality. The older players could barely get a doublekill or entrykill towards the last maps yesterday. They could basically only frag based on position and experience, whereas heroic were still going full focus I believe at some point beyond 25 there is nothing you can do and you can only play like 2-3 maps properly at max. So unless you are a teenager, I wouldnt worry about it. Maybe you need to work on your positioning etc so that you can get more "easy" frags, but it means you cant provide the "explosive awp" to your team
2020-10-26 09:46
Different after i played cs for 6 hours i feel more focused

get up from the computer after each game. go to the kitchen take new glass of water etc. if you just sit down in same position your blood does not circulate and you will get tired. and definitely good sleep and exercises every day helps a lot.

Stand up. Do some light movement excercises like jumping jacks or standing in place and spinning around for a bit. Just anyting to reactivate your brain. It has been scientificaly proven that after 40 minutes of sitting down your brain shuts down more and more, leading to worse focus and decision making, so light exercises like these are perfect to reboot your brain and focus.
