Whats good in your country?
f0rest |
Czech Republic rusteDD
All the time theres lot of hate of a country X here. So lets do it differently. What is good on your country? What do you value? Czechia - we have the right to bear arms for self protection and we can carry with one in the chamber. Also its generally decent place to live. Good work-life balance and the salaries arent that low either if you have working half of a brain. Also we surpassed Italy and Spain in GDP per capita, which makes us the 27th (IMF) most wealthy country in the world.

Austria is nice, great location geography wise. Only Italy and Switzerland is on the same lavel, SUI lacks tho, the distance to the see is not great. But the mountains are awesome (been in all three countries in the alps).

As an European it was always hard for me to understand American culture. What was fascinating for me is that they like bragging about their freedom which was weird for me, because I didn't think that I have any less freedom than them. I always thought 'What is the difference'. However after this game I finally understand it. NA is just so fucking free.

I just honestly don't get the obsession you guys have with freedom. What distinguishes USA from countries like Canada, Netherlands, Belgium etc.?
2020-10-27 12:37
5 replies
Well, being the only nation in the world founded on the very principles of individual freedom and the rights of the individual over the government, there’s a very real difference here. Not one single nation on earth can say that BUT the US. Freedom is the American story, from the outset. It's the concept that defines our nation, society and culture.
2020-10-27 12:43
4 replies
That's kinda biased, especially when you compare europe to US. You had race segregation and slavery many many years longer than anyother country, which was unthinkable here. So whenever I hear about freedom from US citizen, I giggle. No offence man.

Well, I have no personal problem with it, do whatever you want. Just from my observation when I was living in states, that you guys are kinda obssesed with 'freedom' topic, but it's not like you have more to offer in this subject than other countries tho
2020-10-27 14:58
"Well, being the only nation in the world founded on the very principles of individual freedom and the rights of the individual over the government, there’s a very real difference here." Except for years USA imported the most slaves of anyone. Dont get me wrong Britain cant shout about this, but Im not saying we are "founded on teh very principles of Individual freedom"

I think the best thing about Sweden that perhaps also paradoxically is the worst thing about Sweden is the freedom. We are so free here that basically everyone has become an individual but that has led to strange side-effects. Bascially everyone here works for themselves and not anyone or anything else and that has split the country into groups based on minorities, religions, cities and political opinion. Things fall apart when people dont work towards the common good/the benefit of the country and it's people.

We surely have a lot of cons which the biggest is our gov and big amount of catholic freaks(mostly boomers) but the country is not as bad as people say.

I guess you're going to visit Budapest, but I heavily recommend to visit another city such as Szeged, Pécs or Debrecen, because it's quite a different experience They are smaller, but much more relaxed, not as crowded + they are even cheaper than Budapest, because they are under the radar in terms of tourism I'm planning to go back to the Czech Republic and explore it a bit more, I was in Prague once and I really enjoyed it, people spoke decent English and were very friendly

Oh I see Well, I can't say much about spas I think it doesn't really matter where you go, because you are going to get the same experience almost everywhere Heard good things about Zalakaros and Hévíz Hajdúszoboszló is very famous among tourists and Hajdúnánás is kind of a hidden gem, I can recommend them both Budapest also has some spas, but I think they are just so-so, they don't offer much and get pretty boring after a while
