They were more attentive to detail and worked to perfection in a sense but I don't agree they had better story and soul. I'm struggling to come up with a single ps2 game that had an amazing story I still think of.
all I need is huge af open world rpg
WoW is a current game with the biggest story of all.
civ rev is one of the best 360 games
I was just playing Robin hood the legend of sherwood, its an old game but played it for nostalgia. It was good at first but having played the modern games, it was shit compared to modern titles
So true as of recently. More and more games just pitch "great graphics" and then when you play the game its boring as hell.
the major releases from most triple a companies lack that special charm. besides rockstar, nintendo, cd projekt red and some other developers, most big games are baron wastelands of dull emotions
the indie game scene is where its at tho. those games are what are going to give me nostalgia in 10 years
i think you're just being nostalgic
Your nostalgia glasses are on too tight
My problem is not the focus on graphics or story, but how AAA games are full of useless stuff to inflate your "playtime". Gaming reviews always say shit when a game is great, but you can "end quickly", "no replay value". Fuck those guys. Good is good. And then, all AAA follows the Assassins Creed formula of a bunch of useless garbage doing bling-bling in your brain to release some dopamine.
And the indie games, because of the critic "no replay value", are flooded with so similar roguelikes.
AAA is dead, but its becoming hard to find even indie games who deserve to be played.
When i was smaller games in general were more exciting but playing them today i don’t feel that. I think it is just about how you perceive them at the time.
what are your favourite games, 7ru7h?
Still playing Settlers3, Stronghold and AoE :P
I used to enjoy games more back then, but my dopamine wasn't all fucked up at the time.
back in my dauys games were harder
no but srsly some games where so fucking hard lol
i think tibia 7.6 was one of the best game
also waste a lot of time on my online - the game that has no purpose at all to be funny
despite of garbage grahpic
also look at chess
quite simple game but at the same time inifity complex
Far cry 3 had story, it left you empty when you finished
Gta sa left you empty lie the ending of breaking bad. Gta v was entertaining but you never really felt like you know and cared about the characters
Because rn its the prime of multiplayer games if you ask me
Ofc they were always relevant but rn there are so many popular multiplayer games in different platforms
Pubg, apex, all that shit, pubg mobile, cod mobile and all that shit
Among us etc
Lol, dota 2 etc
And the one and only CSGO
RDR2, RDR1, God Of War 2018, Last of us, Uncharted 4, Witcher 3, Legend of Zelda 2017, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Ori, And obviously the best game CSGO
make it pretty
make it safe and woke
make it online only
hype it up for more than 2 year in advance
get the money from pre-orders
get the press in bed for ez 10/10
fix the bugs later when we can be bothered
but give us your money first for cosmetics and season passes
who cares if it isn't fun or thought provoking
Today's games are all cookie cutter unoriginal bullshit made for normies.
I'm saying that for years... but look, it's working and kids are buying into all the graphical anime shit (ie fortnite, valorant, gta 5 and similar games)
Indie games are way better than most AAA nowadays
There are already some companies head in the right direction like CDPR, Sony Santa-Monica and Rockstar(rockstar might be questionable though). But these companies follow a program that they go sensational in a year and remain silent for much longer until they release another game, that's why they aren't mainstream.
On the other hand, you are 100% right for mainstream companies like EA, Ubisoft and Activision. They had nice games back then such as Assassin's Creed 2 or CoD Black-Ops 2 but now they follow a model that the goal is to release 5-10 games every year and gain money from pushed DLCs and microtransactions. This model obviously doesn't work because actual good companies above just destroy the market and earn five times more than mainstream do with one fucking good game.
old games seem to be better just because of nostalgia
gotta push dem 8k raytracing DLSS and unoptimized games on nerds to jerk off to their RTX 3090s bruh
else NVIDIA gonna bankrupt
BUT LOOK I CAN SEE THESE BETTER BRIGHTER PIXELS ON THE GROUND
I think since everyone was playing the same back then it made a bigger and lively community.
=Todays games =
-Graphics and loot boxes.
-Everything needs to be multiplayer.
-Story is irrelevant.
-Even the game is irrelevant. As long as it makes shitload of money for that fat stockholder.
-How it generates that money is also irrelevant.
Plez relese cyberpunk 2077 kudasai.
