US Covid

Not saying the amount of deaths is acceptable, but there are plenty of other countries who have a worse death rate per 100k people. This includes the likes of France and the UK, example countries people always use to say the USA is shit (insert UK joke lmao). What about Belgium? I always see people from Belgium on this forum clowning on the USA. Have fun with this: coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

I clicked on the link, and see that US is ahead of both France and UK in terms of deaths per 100k capita. Are Canadians just as dumb as Americans to not being able to read charts? Or not able to distinguish between observed case-fatality ratio and deaths per 100k population?

thats the point of this comment. I corrected what I said. France and UK are on par as far as I am concerned.

People also blame Trump for a lot of deaths but do people really live off of the opinion of a president? Use your common sense people!

yea im really sad he was the president and not Biden who was first calling everyone a facists for closing the borders from infected areas than flipped just in two weeks into demanding not even citizents should come in 👌😎

-1 the vast majority of US covid cases came from Europe, not Asia
2020-10-29 20:51
Yep. People also don't follow rules. Here it happens too, which is why the PROVINCIAL government closes stuff and not the FEDERAL. It's the same in the US largely. It's state by state. Trump has little effect on a lot of the shit.

He has the highest influence in the country. Him calling all this Hoax instead of a global pandemic is unreal. Making fun of masks is the right thing to do right?

Tbh i think the US has managed the coronavirus crisis really well. Testing is going good and there is plenty of icu capacity. Most states have little or no measures and the economy is very resilient especially when compared to europe. JP morgan projected that US GDP will fall only 2.5% vs 8%+ in the eurozone

I agree. Given that the US is soooo many more people than the other countries in question, the population density is high, and the numbers are not that much worse proportionally, I think it's unfair the way they've been judged. The number of see (meaning the people who initially brought it) in all parts of the country is also higher, meaning there is also more avenues of vast spread.

Well they also have a waaay bigger country than the other countries in question so they population density isnt that high US Population Density - 36 (Km2) UK Population Density - 275 (Km2) Italy Population Density - 206 (Km2) France Population Density - 122 (Km2)
2020-10-29 19:36
US Death per 1M population - 704 UK Death per 1M population - 676 Italy Death per 1M population - 631 France Death per 1M population - 548

Deaths per capita is important but it doesnt mean everything. You also have to think about the economy
2020-10-29 19:30
1. Those numbers are not that much better, I correct myself in #1 2. There is more people meaning more seed spreaders who came from other countries or who were abroad and were around more people, meaning fast exponential growth Please explain belgium Also the way you classify density is wrong. US cities are dense, the innards are not. In another sense, texas, california, new york could all be their own countries. Heck, NYC could be it's own country... look how dense specifically that is. Density relative to the size of the country is low yes, but you know that most people live in few specific areas even despite the 330 million people.

stop cherry picking things from my argument, address the full argument Belgium is always an example of a country that people use to say the US is bad. I'm saying this mostly because people are saying Trump is so much worse than other leaders and yet here we have another 'first world country' that is doing worse. Debate the other points now that I have addressed Belgium. It's the same argument with France and the UK. Their numbers are by no means much better and could be worse with more time given it exponentially grows.

That's fucking bullshit because there are plenty of countries right around the same death rate as the US that I provided. I am cherry picking countries purely because THOSE countries are part of the ones commonly mentioned. Stop being weird and actually prove me wrong. Think of it this way: The goal is to actually convince me I'm wrong, now you're just trying to play blissfully ignorant and not address the points I made that actually combat your arguments about densities and deaths per millions. Tell me why slightly worse death per millions (despite a far larger population and more chance of exponential spread) is that much worse than France, the UK, Belgium, or Italy, 3 of which belong to the G7, USA being a 4th. I bring this up because people irrationally blame Trump for 220k deaths which makes absolutely no sense whether you like him or not. His impact is minimal and I would love to be proved wrong on that because I too do not love the guy.

You suck at arguing your point, you're not changing my mind. I provided the stats of yes many COUNTRIES in the same realms of numbers as the US in the very beginning of the post.

Reasonable. Actually that's a decent point. If it was truly a reflection of health standards and wealth we would see African countries top the charts... Turns out their population is mostly young I will point out that countries reporting fewer deaths could also worse off technologically and therefore not have proper data.
