Lets talk about FaZe...

Even though niko had a great year (his second best after 2017, in my opinion) and his efforts for the team were great, removing him might fix a thing or two within the roster. Cold said in an interview that FaZe were playing more for niko than with niko lately, which probably cut lots of space and freedom for the players in the team to perform where and how they do best. Playing roles you're not used to just to try and get another player to make a play will affect your confidence, your comfort and you will consequently waste your potential somewhat, some way, regardless of the existent role conflict in the lineup. Cold also said in the same interview that the mid-round calls were poor, which I can't blame it on niko, but at the same time means that something different will be brought onto the table. There's a necessity for fresh ideas, different minds and approaches, a more loose playstyle, which in my eyes, at least, would suit the roster better than a very by-the-book team. What niko brought to the team in terms of igling never worked in the long term, but changes will be done and FaZe definitely needs some to get going. I do think that there's a big chance FaZe does better off without him considering some of the issues above are dealt with after he left, although the 5th player will also play a toll, and mind this is coming from a fan of niko as well. Discuss in the comments. TL;DR: -niko might or not have been a good choice for FaZe, but what are your expectations for FaZe coming onto 2021? Will they perform at a higher/lower level? Do you think Cold can fill the blank space left by niko if he's given the star role? What roster changes do they need/who must they add as a 5th?

Who would that be? I think Fallen is the first name that comes to most minds here including mine, but surely the chances aren't that high(?)

I thought about Lekro but I forgot he was tied to north now. He's an igl with decent firepower and was a free agent til recently

Lekro isn't a better IGL than NiKo imo. He was forced in the role as well and he isn't a leader person

Perhaps because they didn't feel as attached? I wouldn't know, but you definitely won't get the best out of any player if that player is playing for other player. I do think Cold will crawl back to a pretty decent form next year.

He really didn’t have a bad year, just the last couple months were bad but I think you can attribute that to kjaerbye joining the team and the roles being changed.

Well since Olof is standing in cold has had more freedom, but it was nice to see cold was literally being bait for NiKo, showing how much he wants to make it work and win. If he’s this committed to faze they will succeed.

2020-10-30 16:56
They used the same strats that they had with NiKo, the only thing they changed is the position and role of kjaerbye, outside of that, the last matches with niko, everyone was fragging.

They didn't do major changes yet of course, but couldn't you tell Cold had a little more freedom to make his plays than he used to? At least to me he looked like a lesser "by-the-book" player. He played his best series today without niko than his last 20 with him.

I prefer this faze than the faze with niko because olof is bringing the team fresh air and they are laughing and having fun. The team played well and almost win against BIG 2-0, but I'm just saying that NiKo had an importance in the team before leaving.
2020-10-30 04:54
Yes but nobody is as much setup for frags as NiKo after he left, so everyone has more space and hence were able to frag more

I'll say that their CT side looked way more flexible and it felt like faze was playing with hella freedom. But what I'm trying to say is that Niko has been an importance of the team aside of the terrible decisions he made time to time. I think he brang a structure but at the end, like he said, him going to G2 was better for both faze and for himself and G2 team since he will not play as IGL.
2020-10-30 04:56
Kick kjaerbye and get fallen. I think fallen is overrated but probably the best option for them and u get a good awper if broky doesnt want to continue awping. Keep olof, he will be solid support under fallen. Hopefully fallen knows how to use cold again and can use rain like he used fer.

Fallen sure knows how to use Cold. He used him in the best way possible when Cold was the #1 player so I have no reasons to doubt he could do it again

I don’t really see a reason to kick kjaerbye, he’s been getting better and better in faze, and he has the potential to be their star player. On the other hand I would like to see Olof stay, and I think if a player like fallen joined the team would be a lot better balanced role wise.
2020-10-30 16:48
I do believe FaZe might be better off without Niko tbh, even if on paper it might look bad.

let's be real ynk isn't a coach, not even close, i just don't know how couldn't you manage to make this team with such names play good, also leaving the team when niko left for g2, all this FaZe project with niko was about friendship nothing else

In theory, friendships aside, +cold was a crazy roster move on paper. It's just a pity how things turned out. I have no idea what and how ynk helped the team with, but it was no good

I ain't reading all that. I'm happy for you though or sorry that happened
2020-10-30 03:48
Ofc cold is happy niko left. Now he has 4 players to bait instead of 3 xDDDDD

In terms of roster moves, i think they should look for a replacement IGL (then -Olof) but Olof could stay with the roster. If Cold can IGL well then they have all the pieces to perform great again, especially if they get a good coach, the biggest problem with the roster ever since Cold joined was NiKo's style of IGL'ing, he was notoriously bad at swapping positions around and trying to work to fix players, no wonder Olof, Bymas, KJAERBYE, NEO and AdreN had shitty ratings and shitty impact, they all had to play on some of the hardest roles in the game because NiKo wanted to keep everything as it was and that was an imense mistake. But with NiKo out, then they can work together to make it work and they already look really great, the enviroment is really positive. There is also something i'd like to see but it's very controversial. FaZe sells broky so they can have all the money in the world to rebuild, get FalleN and a good suportive player and a competent coach. I feel bad for Broky having to stick around in such a chaotic project when i really feel he deserves better (like Mousesports)

Exactly. My point is that even though niko contributed immensely for the team, him being in there limited the team a lot. They will be able to figure something else out that will probably put most if not all of the players more comfortable.

Broky deserves better? He got an instant upgrade from t3 to t1 because of faze, he’s a good player but still has a lot to learn, and he’s getting all of that in faze. None of the players deserve to go through roster changes but it’s just part of it. And I seriously doubt that faze would sell Broky considering that he’s usually their best player.

with what we've seen from Broky he is clearly a world class player and AWPer and i feel it's such a waste to keep him in such a rough time from FaZe, a time where players are unsure of the future and have to rebuild in a big way i really just wish Broky was in a better spot to really show how great he is but i doubt FaZe would ever do it lmao

I mean cold has already said that’s he’s committed for a year, I’m sure everyone besides Olof feels the same way. Broky will show next year that he’s a top 20 player for certain and I imagine faze will have an igl so everyone else can show how good they are as well.

Tbh I think it's a great choice to not add a 5th until 2021. They should take their time, negotiate with orgs and finally get a suitable IGL+coach combo.

There're few players which can fill into Niko's shoes and cold is not one of them. Faze 5th it's hard to say, I'd even keep Olof and replace Kjaerbye with someone else tbh.. maybe Snappi? Regarding Niko, tbh u can pretty much say he was in same spot in which Simple was in navi earlier it's just that simple didn't have to be igl back then, that's about it.

Aren't you ignoring the fact that niko had a team around him and his stats also got helped and inflated because of that? In contrast I'm pretty sure some of the FaZe players including cold would've had mcuh better numbers if it wasn't for that. I don't know... niko was a key player and he's one of my favourite players to watch but I think his stats are sometimes misunderstood by the viewers. He was treated like a queen in that roster.

Simple also have a team around him whi eyes him up in every possible way I think that is how star player works. And Niko has highest flash assist opening kills and DPR that shows how much he was doing for the team

in navi s1mple always got the priority for being the best and that's it. they didnt have a star player who came to the team in goals of being a co-star and ended up giving up all his star material to help support a player. Cold is a former best and even though he's not on his prime, he can still be carry material if he's given benefits niko was given, however if s1mple left navi none of guardian or flamie would've had to take over the team as the main player.

Cold is far from his prime and he's in the same situation as Guardian was when simple came to navi, yes he can frag but he's not a a contender for #1 or top5 in the world atm, not anymore.

Finally Someone who is not spreading hate on Niko .. Thanks Man Faze needs an IGL..with Niko they lacked new ideas. When they bought in cold I thought the idea behind that was He will bring ideas to faze and Niko will listen to him because he is good friends with him but cold didn't provide that(not blaming cold just saying somehow it didn't work) Now that Niko left they can restructure team as cold kjaerbye or even broky as star and have an IGL with loose playstyle( which I think suits faze more with so many experienced players) they can be a top team again. Everyone hating on Niko so much for leaving...even I am devastated but I think it is best for both parties now that this happened but I will Miss Niko-Rain Dua very much

Honestly, to me, it looks like the players are enjoying themselves a lot more with NiKo gone. They can play much more freely and that does something to their morale. Overall they just look and sound happier. Idk that's just what I've noticed
