You may save a 100 or 200 bucks buying cheaper now but you will end up spending money again very much sooner. you actually didnt save anything if you look at in in the long run (lets say a period of 5 years+) but you missed out on a lot of performance. i rather buy a rtx 3080, spend the extra bucks, enjoy the performance and upgrade again in 5 years than buying a 2070 and upgrade again in 3 years ...

6800xt (649$) on pair with 3080 but slightly more efficient, 6800 (579$) slightly better than 2080ti so probably better as the 3070 as well, and overclocked 6900xt (999$) almost as good as 3090(1499$) Edit: according to AMD's claims of course

the announced price was 699$ but since it's not available and won't be for the next months they scalp the prices and sell the card for 1000 to 1500$ which is ridiculous. in theory you should get one for around 700$ - 800$. I hope AMD has better availability

They've had some difficulties getting enough stock to the markets, but seems to be getting better now, at least Asus is shipping a lot and most stores in Finland got hundreads of cards only this week, and I got mine for the 739e price. But AMD should definately do better release :)

amd always claim they are "on par" and then end up being behind. until there is benchmarks this is just marketing blabla. another big point: amd has no dlss and is way weaker on ray tracing. team green will stay nr. 1. amd good for budget users who care about 50-100 $ less.

Sorry for late reply. I am curious on reviewer benchmarks. Even Nvidia buff their benchmarks so AMD would as well. They also work with companies to optimise games. Especially microsoft games since and supplies console guy's I'm still gonna go ahead and get NVidia this time round but maybe my next gen card will be AMD.

im pretty sure amd all around beat intel and nvidia u see the single core score of the 5600x beat the 10900k
2020-11-03 23:57
When you outperfom for 50 - 100$ less in a scenario thats suited to you, well that actually is a big deal. Why bother spending more for a card thats weaker in my work case. I personally don't care if it's "way weaker" in ray tracing, because I don't play games that have that option. Also it still seems to do a good job at raytracing also with it's own distinct features. allthough team green had a prior generation allready profiting from it so they could optimize rtx on the 30 series, team red is catching up pretty fast, even in that department. I'm excited to see real numbers and even you as nvidia fan must be happy to see such a good card from amd, becaus rumours says team green will go for a TI release for their cards to widen the gap again, market diversity is good for everyone :) and im not going to buy any of these cards until they both released.

2000 series was the generation to skip, this gen is a massive upgrade. The 3070 is approx 2080ti performance at 2070 super price and AMD has finally come to the party and will challenge at every price point. Having said that, if your current GPU suits your needs then definitely skip. If rumors are true it seems like the next gen coming may also be a significant leap so saving your money for that won't hurt a bit.

the r5 5600x costs $300 and should beat the 10900k, where the FUCK is the overpricing here let's also keep in mind that the 5600 would have a significantly lower price for not much less performance if we apply the same logic amd used in their past releases the only benchmark that used SAM and "RAGE MODE" (which is almost useless) was the 6900xt vs rtx 3090. give those UP TO 11% and look at the difference in price first

I always wait for reviews. Having said that it does look like Nvidia doesn't scale well at lower res at all and AMD do, possibly due to their infinity cache which could also result in lower system latency. If that's the case, there's a very good chance I'll end up with an AMD card when I build in Dec/Jan.

Once these comes out and this is a BIG IF "all the drivers" they release in the future actually doesn't break the damn gpu or cause overheating then i'll be a believer of their AMD GPU. For years their drivers have been shit after shit after shit hopefully they actually have brains this time whoever is in charge of the gpu drivers
2020-10-30 16:54

Have you actually had some personal experience with those AMD driver problems? Personally I just can not recognize any of that and I have running their cards for a long time.
2020-11-03 14:39

Yes a while ago though and have friends who has or used to own AMD cards whos had issues maybe unlucky? idk but it is a known fact that AMD drivers have always been bad but those are from old gpu's. I haven't used AMD cards in a long time because I've always had issues with them, I am speaking from past experienced though so I don't know how good they have been recently or now.
2020-11-03 17:23
7 replies
Well, that known fact seems about as factual that the Earth is flat. I've been asking around and am yet to find anyone having had problems with a AMD drivers in recent years, so it seems more and more like it is not really factual when people say their drivers have always been bad. Instead it seems more like one of those things some people keep repeating, while totally ignoring that computers evolve in every way over time and fast at that. The laws of physics is facts and we can also talk about historical facts, however saying anything about anything and calling it facts without data backing up such claims is misleading.
2020-11-03 17:32

Or you could go straight to AMD community forums and just look up their GPU posts about issues people get. As I mentioned above it is a known fact that AMD drivers have always been bad but those are from old gpu's" KEYWORD "OLD GPU's" and as I have also stated above "I am speaking from past experienced though so I don't know how good they have been recently or now"
2020-11-04 04:20
5 replies
Explain how "always" in you world only includes old gpu's, that is not always it is some rather alternative of a word that literally means "at all time". Also you can not really base anything on posts in some forum if the goal is to judge how good or bad something is, simply put people that have problems are much more likely to post about those than people that have no problems.
2020-11-04 04:45
4 replies
What are you on about? How could I not base anything on the ACTUAL AMD forums where people are ACTUALLY having issues??? "simply put people that have problems are much more likely to post about those than people that have no problems." Ofc they would post there because THEY have problems?? why would people post on forums if they dont have problems? your logic here makes no sense
2020-11-04 15:47
3 replies
I am not the one with flawed logic. Do tell - how many have posted about problems ion those forums 10, 50, 100 or ? How big a percentage of GPU's sold does that number represent? Lets say just for the sake of argument that 100 people have posted about problems, since people never really post when everything is good then judging anything based on posts is significantly flawed. If lets say 10% of AMD GPU customers experience problems then that is not great, on the other than if it is 100 out of millions of customers well then it is nowhere near indicating there is an actual issue.
2020-11-04 16:04
2 replies
Why would we compare percentage of GPU's sold?? I am going off on people actually having issues with current drivers at that time, and since we dont have any way of knowing how many gpu's were actually sold why would you go with that??? And as I have stated "I am talking from past experienced and OLD gpu's" AND "I haven't used AMD cards in a long time because I've always had issues with them, I am speaking from past experienced though so I don't know how good they have been recently or now." WHICH means right there and there I have not bought any recent AMD gpu's or have cared about them in years, I've been using nvidia for years and they've lasted me for years and have had literally 0 driver/overheating issues so I never went back to AMD for years now. another keyword "I don't know how good they have been recently or now."

The thing is your are stating two different things on the same time. On the one side you reasonably tell you're basing your statement on past rather than current experience, but on the other hand you use the word always and when I question that you say my logic is flawed. On top of that you bring the fact that people have posted about problems on the AMD forum, but somehow can not accept that this says nothing about how many experience problems only it matters a great deal if is common to have problems or if it is an exception out of the normal.

I'll wait for the reviews, but if the number put out by AMD are confirmed then it is likely I will get one of the red cards. I have actually been running ATI/AMD for a very long time and I just can not recognize the stories about driver problems, so much so that for me that just seem like something Nvidia has fabricated.

I always bought AMD and currently have a Vega 64 but emulators run like pure ass on this GPU. Honestly feels like I'm using my old GTX 760... Minecraft runs at like 100 fps MAX usually averages around 70-80 fps because AMD refuses to update their OpenGL because "vulkan is the future!" Just waiting for the RTX 3080's to actually be in stock and I'm grabbing one.
