i live literally in London. Places are open with restrictions and most places have to close at 10 since London is considered tier 2. Most people in shops have to wear masks esp. in supermarkets, but yeah, most people dgaf hence the heavy increase in cases

It's such a retarded take to say that. If people did what they were told in the original lockdown and didn't just go out partying, we wouldn't have this problem about "incompetence", literally the reason Covid is still going strong in this country is because morons are still going out. You can't say they're fed up about covid when they are the fucking problem spreading it in the first place lmao. What a joke.

im using your logic to an extreme to point out the flaws. policy should be molded to fit the people, not the other way around.
2020-11-04 01:52

you didn't take my logic to an extreme point, there was literally none there and you pulled killing people out of a hat. Policies are in place to protect and help the majority of the population. Hence why we have laws against drugs. If you are suggesting that if people kept taking cocaine and heroin we should legalise it instead of policing it (as so to use your logic that it should "mold to fit the people") you are an idiot. The majority of people ARE adhering to lockdown rules. The rest, well you know about the rest.

>Policies are in place to protect and help the majority of the population >Hence why we have laws against drugs Which hurt more lives than they protect, by this statement alone I can tell that you have no clue about what you're talking about. Prohibition has never worked and never will, it has always failed and always does more harm than good. Anyway, there isn't any convincing statists like you who believe people's lives should and can be micromanaged and dealt with be corrupt politicans. That people need to be told what is right and wrong, what is good and bad, what to do and what not to do.

its quite clear that in comparison to what you lose when you lock the entire UK down, it hasn't worked and isn't going to work. You have no economy and people are becoming depressed and miserable as a result of having their liberties stripped away. It was much easier for a small, isolated country like NZ which barely had any virus spread to begin with, but at this point for the UK its doing for more harm than good and the people realise this, and your pathetic government needs to stop being such a pussy about it and admit that they're fighting a losing battle, and to just cut their losses.

+1 no matter how much or how long the uk locks down it will always come back
2020-11-01 07:15
Why are you comparing two completely different scenarios? This would have worked if the shitty government didn't immediately open the flood gates and let everywhere open and trust the stupid people in this country to think about what they do before doing it. The numbers were at their lowest then immediately everything opened back up and the numbers spike back up. Non-essential shit like pubs, clubs and certain restaurants were needed but gyms and leisure centres where the cases of COVID transmissions were the lowest weren't needed. They need to keep schools, work places and gyms/leisure centres open (This "liberties and freedom shit"... you aren't American stop spewing the same bullshit that those moronic yanks do) but reverse whatever fucking thing they did that caused the number of cases to spike. but with over 1 million cases and 45k deaths something does need to be done, "cutting your losses" isn't a fucking stratergy when dealing with a fucking pandemic you moron.

It will be unsuccessful, but not because of our Government, it's because people are still going out. Quite a lot of students have already been fined £10,000 for hosting parties during lockdown yet people still continue to go out. It's just the British chav culture to ignore what the rules tell you to do. The blame is not entirely on BoJo though he has made massive cock-ups during the summer.

So why does the government not acknowledge this? What's the point of trying to convince people to obey something that you know they wont do--and then going ahead with it anyway. People are complicated, it is incredibly wishful thinking to think that you can just micro manage the lives of millions of people and restrict them from all social interaction. You have to be a realist not an idealist.
2020-11-03 10:32
It would honestly be better if 300k people died then to do all this damage as most of these people would be ones that werent contributing to the economy and were over 80. The reality is to reach herd immunity something like 75k would have to die so really not that bad we dont know the true covid deaths in the UK as its any death within 28 days of a positive test of covid, so the reality is there are probably less than 30k deaths.

???? The survival rate for people 60 and under is 99-96% The survival rate for people close to or over 70 is around 70-90%
2020-11-02 06:29
1 reply
Higher, much higher, the WHO reckon its around 99.86% for the entire population and 99.95% for under 70s, so in the UK if every got infected and all had symptoms 92k roughly would die, its lower than that as about 30% dont even show symptoms, you have children who arent effected at all really and then you have the fact that once you hit a threshold the virus has issues spreading. The reality is western nations we live by the sword and die by the sword and that sword is liberty and freedom, because any alternative is hell.
2020-11-02 07:58
Ignoring the study that points to the fact herd immunity most likely won't work and people will keep getting reinfected over and over instead of being immune to the virus, you hugely underestimate how much of the population already have hidden illnesses and are vulnerable, they don't have to be over 80. Reading what you said made me physically facepalm irl, no wonder everyone is still going out.
2020-11-02 01:32
1 reply
If thats the case then no vaccines will work as they work based on this same principle. The average age for death from this is 82-84. Also no we do get immunity to it thanks to T cells, antibodies naturally drop after you havent been infected for a while, its also been proven that subsequent infections tend to be far more mild so it will only become less lethal over time. 3 in 0–9 years old (yo), 0 in 10–19 yo, 11 in 20–29 yo, 58 in 30–39 yo, 257 in 40–49 yo, 1,051 in 50–59 yo, 3,107 in 60–69 yo, and 25,038 in 70 + yo in Italy as of May 13, 2020. In Japan, that was 0 in 0–9 yo, 0 in 10–19 yo, 0 in 20–29 yo, 2 in 30–39 yo, 8 in 40–49 yo, 16 in 50–59 yo, 44 in 60–69 yo, and 330 in over 70 + yo as of May 7, 2020. In Spain, that was 2 in age 0–9 yo, 5 in 10–19 yo, 23 in 20–29 yo, 61 in 30–39 yo, 198 in 40–49 yo, 607 in 50–59 yo, 1669 in 60–69 yo, and 16,253 in over 70 + yo as of May 12, 2020 The WHO have confirmed the fatality rate below 70 is 0.05%, as you can see above the majority are over 70, and as you go below thats its basically a non factor as death are extremely rare so please continue in your delusion. Let me give you some more numbers. These stats are from december 29th of 2019 and october 16th of 2020. ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/.. Under 1 years 0 deaths 1-14 0 deaths 15-44 601 45-74 5188 75-84 17630 85 and over 22835 Look at the discrepancy, 601 deaths from 15-44 in 10 months, thats so low, even 5188 is low in 10 months and this is UK death stats so that means just a death within 28 days of a positive test so this means you could die of a heart attack and be put down as covid since that how they decided to gather the stats and i dont know why they did that.
2020-11-02 06:42
I guess you've never heard of the flu, or norovirus. Also, older people contribute a lot more to the economy than young people.
2020-11-02 01:53
3 replies
This is nonsense. People over 70 are not working, they are only taking money out of the system, people ages 20-60 the main working age group are the ones that add the most to the economy and people from 30-60 are the biggest consumers, and this virus is of minimal risk to people even aged 60 so no you dont know what you are talking about. Also if we cant get immunity to this then a vaccine will never work just like the flu vaccine has never really been all that effective so whats the people in this then? Are we buying time for a vaccine? Well if this vaccine will be as poor as the flu vaccine then whats the point, we have also seen that subsequent infections from covid are far more mild, we have also seen that many people are also just already immune thanks to other forms of coronavirus, there are about 7 known types of coronavirus that infect humans. To give you an idea of taxes. Under 18 2% 18-26 16% 26-35 17% 35-45 19% 45-55 18% 55-65 14% 65 and over 14% So the people in the risk category of 70+ are contributing less than any other category apart from under 18, meanwhile the people you are harming most so from age 18-65 are contributing 84% of the taxes, so this comment by you is beyond moronic on all levels. Economically and socially we would be better off losing 300k people than doing what the government is doing to our country but given how treatment of other things has fallen off a cliff we are expecting hundreds of thousands of excess deaths over the next few years and these will go completely under the radar.
