Just bought myself my very first music instrument, I got an electric guitar! So excited to start learning and progress, my goal for now is to play some of my favorite songs, maybe I will join a band in the future if I will get decent. Yes scottish folds are expensive but I bought him in a third world country for dirt cheap, 50 euro I think when he was 1 month old. He is 5 now. More picture of him if you're curious :)

Boss katana is honestly best bang for your buck when it comes to a great amp overall not just for beginners. Honestly it has decent distortion and tons of effects when you use it’s computer program especially. I wouldn’t worry about pedals unless you get more advanced and want very specific sounds. For now your set up sounds really good for a beginner just play with the distortion and other effects settings on the amp and have fun!

Yeah the headstock is kinda curved but I won't let it fall. I just hang it on my wall and it sits there just fine.

People are exaggerating a bit. Les Pauls style guitars tend to be somewhat fragile at their neck/headstock joint when compared to strats or teles because of the way their neck/headstock was designed but these guitars are not made of glass. If you are not one of those guys that throws your guitar to the floor or against the wall because you think it looks look then you should be fine. Just use it with the standard of care that an ordinary person would use. Using a locked stand (as the one you have, is also advisable to avoid accidents). I had an Epiphone when I started playing a few years ago (now with my brother and still fine) and I´ve had several Gibsons - including 2 custom shops (which were shipped by plane a couple of times), and never had a broken neck. Congrats for your new guitar and enjoy it!

The headstock break thing is definitely a problem but honestly most people are bedroom players starting off anyways so its unlikely its gonna get knocked if cared for properly. I have fenders, a gibson, and an epiphone and they have things the others do not which is why I don't like when people fanboy one or the other. Playability is arguably the best on my Gibson SG because of the neck and fret access. I know there is other brands out there that are also objectively better, but resale value also matters and an epiphone has resale value. I generally also like the look of fenders and gibsons compared to 'better playing instruments'. Not to mention many of these smaller brand guitars often cost more. PRS, ibanez, godin, etc often can cost more.

It all depends on the style of music/play. I really dislike necks that are too thin (and therefore I dislike Ibanez wizard necks). They feel weird. When you eventually get another guitar - if you do, you will probably know more about the type of necks you prefer. Wizard necks may not be your thing.

And these Epi LPC necks are not thick at all. I think it's the 60's Slim taper wich is really not big at all.
Im for that 50's neck tho. Got a 1993 Gibson LPC wich has a thicc boi neck and i love it

Jokes aside they are really good songs despite being overplayed, the reason why they are overplayed is because they are known as beginner songs but there are a lot of details to these songs as well. Even stairway TSRTS version solo is a bit hard to learn that the original.

There are 1000's of amazing songs to learn for beginners, but if you don't like those particular songs I would never advise someone to learn them first. I personally started with the Hell Song by sum41 and Offspring - These kids aren't alright. 16 years later I've still never tried Stairway to heaven because it just doesn't interest me

Les Pauls are not the best for metal that was my point, 22 frets, no floyd rose, only neck and bridge, mostly the neck feels thicker(but idk about this since idk the dimensions obviously im just telling generally) than the ibanez prestige or Jackson models.

Also metal is not a single genre you can still play heavy and thrash metal songs like metallica or iron maiden.
Anyways i just checked out the demos and it sounds so great, ESP pickups are definitely one of the best.

There is a steam game called 'rocksmith', absolute must if you want to play guitar! You can connect your guitar to your PC and learn/play songs, with different difficulty levels :)
You buy the game, a custom cable, one song, and download all the other dlc's and custom dlc's (ieliegalie) - google for instructions :)

Nice! I mainly play with an acoustic guitar but my first electric guitar was Yahama Pacifica. Was also an easy transition as electric guitars are quite easier to play with (lower action, faster necks, nickel strings even of the same gauge as bronze are easier on the fingers). I suggest in getting a good amp like someone suggested Boss Katana is amazing.

It's capo. you need this to raise the pitch of a fretted instrument so you can play in a different key using the same fingerings as playing open. So it's basically the same thing if you hold your finger on every string on some fret or get there capo that will hold every string but your hand will be free. It's popular to use an open tuning+capo. Open tuning is a way to tune guitar in some chord. For example you tune guitar in open D - DADF#AD instead of EADGBE. So your guitar on open strings sounds like a D chord at this point. So you can get a new chords if you press something.
A girl in video uses open tuning aswell DADF#AE and capo on the second fret.

Would be better if you start to learn basics in standard. BUT songs that i liked when i started to play guitar was in some of this tunings, so i didn't know how to play in stanard. But i knew some things in other tunings xd
And actually it's much easier to play and jam in open tunings, cuz it's hard to get a wrong note.
If artist that you listen don't use open tunings, then you don't need to go for it.
My personal advice - start from songs you love, then go for theory/exercises/practice.
When you get those right notes from song that you like, you will be much more satisfied and would return to guitar with more probability than you'll play exercises

Popmusic, soul, country, blues ... and the enitire world they call "jazz": The study of "harmony" will never end.
And even accompanying your family singing christmas-songs ... (if you do celebrate christmas):
NO limits! Work out for yourself what you are driven towards, but keep your ears open! 😎👍

Eeeeh ... as mentioned: The bass.
I developed a front vocal as well and arrange choir for my band.
I also do play a little guitar to work out harmonies, since the bass isn't a chord instrument.
I can strongly recommend developing your singing voice as well, unless it's completely hopeless! 😊
Even the "weakest" vocal has a role in a choir.
Though singing while playing was invented by the devil! 🤣🤣

it's never too early to start trying to jam with your friends. practice makes perfect, so just try it.
I would recommend to get proper guitar lessons for the start though. You can even have an online teacher now during corona. It's better to learn the correct way at the start before you start getting used to playing the wrong way.
edit: I didnt look properly, you got a Les Paul kind of guitar, while I got a Hollow Body. Looks similar and great either way

To others thinking about buying their first guitar I recommend: don't spend too much on a guitar until you know that you love playing guitar. You won't know you love playing guitar until you get past the basics and start really learning songs and what not.
Guitars are not like computers, the $100 guitar will still play well years later so its best to start out cheap. See if you like it, then when you are super confident you will be playing for a long time then you splurge on your favorite guitars.
To OP that is a nice guitar though. I like Epiphones quite a bit since they do some quality guitars without a "name" charge like some brands... My favorites tend to be Jacksons because they just make awesome guitars that have a lot of character for what you will pay.

Don't really agree personally. The resale value on guitars is pretty good and getting an average playing instrument doesn't necessarily inspire the player to continue playing when they have to worry about adjusting the guitar constantly, getting it repaired, or when its uncomfortable to play. I would argue its best to get a mid range guitar (like 500 dollars USD) or even a pretty fair priced guitar if you have the money. If you don't have the money then I understand getting an inexpensive guitar. That's not to say there isn't good inexpensive guitars like harley benton that have come out or even squier is a decent option now days.

I always loved the les paul custom look. Good choice. Don't listen to the Gibson fan boys either. I've owned gibsons and tbh they are great guitars but by no means better by 5 times and in the customs case like 7 times.
