unfortunately it is true. I am a mechanic and we do a lot of VW and Audi. and not only the small ones run in. we also have denmark's largest diesel center, and vw / audi injektor are the worst at all, they certainly run well. we even have an audi but if the company did not pay we would never have one

You should not go for any Audi car. It's just a problematic car which will be repaired more than you use it. But you should go for a german car, it's the best if you want speed, acceleration and good looks. Not saying that cars from the US isn't, but you are more into power and not the other aspects as much. Sure BMW is a great car, especially the M2 and M5. But we use to call them "Bästis med verkstaden", which means "Best friend with the garage/workshop" or whatever. Not sure where in the US you live, but if you live in a colder climate, then that's nothing for you as they tend to rust easily. The best car you can get is an Mercedes. It's just raw! I would go for a Mercedes AMG. Maybe something like the Mercedes AMG C63. It's fast, got the looks, got the luxurity and everything is pure joy!
But if you would just choose from the 3 cars you listed yourself, I would have chosen the Dodge Charger Hellcat. It's my favourite muscle car. Haven't driven it myself but I will probably get one next summer! :)
BTW, if you want a SUV sometime. Get the Mercedes AMG GLC 63 with the biggest motor. That's so fun to ride! I've driven many SUV's but that one always gives me a smile on my face as soon as I jump in it. Had one last year, which I chipped! Best car I've had!

AMG's really are beautiful cars. I've never seen one that wasn't a head-turner. What you said about audi's lines up with what i've heard as well. They apparently just have a lot of maintenance issues.

You're not wrong. $60K-$70K buys an incredibly nice truck/SUV which many people get over a sedan. I was always more of a car guy until a few months ago when I spent a week driving a large truck and I kinda understood why people like them.

Not that old, unless you wanted to get the old looks of a muscle car but then you would have to strip the car bare to put in modern technology. I mean like the catfish generation of muscle cars, or a trans am. A lot of old muscle cars are fun, you just have to find the one that fits you and your daily routines

I hadn't considered a previous generation car as an option, but it does sound kind of cool. Especially if it were outfitted with all modern tech. It would definitely stand out and have personality. Where as modern chargers/camaro/mustangs are everywhere.

Jeep makes some pretty cool looking vehicles. I've heard that jeep owners have to really love jeeps because they tend to be pretty unreliable (made by chrysler, which also makes dodge) and they're also apparently really uncomfortable. But lots of people love them.

I dont think so its matter to u insurance, fuel consumption or repair cost...With that kind of money i would get alfa romeo giulia quadrifoglio or Cadillac CTS-V. But again maybe u looking for better sound car and etc...

when we're young we all want a bmw or a mercedes amg or this and that and thats all cool and dandy if you can afford it (or your parents) but once you start doing the math of how much you'd be paying (specially in the US) thats when you realize that maybe your first car can be a honda accord or a toyota camry just fine :P

Oh, I know. I haven't had a car payment in 15 years. Cars depreciate in value exponentially, so the value is having a car long enough that you aren't making payments on it for extended periods, and only doing repairs as needed.
The number of people I see driving cars far nicer than mine, but living in apartments/duplexes is insane to me. Put your money into an investment that'll pay off, not something that's destined to be worthless later.

Most people who buy semi-expensive cars aren't actually loaded, they want to pretend they are, and it is a worthless investment.
My multimillionaire uncle has more money than 90% of people out there and has owned the same car for 40+ years. Want to go bankrupt? Buy expensive cars at the top of your budget and see how it pans out, most people have no idea how to spend reliably, and I know this because of all the bankruptcy law I've seen.

You can't assume that everyone who buys a semi expensive car are making bad financial decisions, people just want to treat themselves so let them indulge. It's true that some are completely clueless on how to spend their money though.
Also, buying a car if you own a business can be used as a tax break, to give you cuts on your business taxes. So the car technically pays for itself. Just get a car that doesn't depreciate like crazy ( I say this but I bought a Quattroporte new. It's so cheap in Canada though ) and you basically have a free car. So a Porsche or Ferrari are good choices.

The majority of people buying these cars are not really in the position of writing them off as business expenses, or having disposable income. I'm not assuming they're making bad financial decisions, just that spending a lot of money on a nice car is a considerably worse investment than putting that money into, say, property. They are free to do as they please, but how many people on this site do you think own their own home? Consider the average age range of users here, and I'd wager very few, and a lot of them are young enough to view owning a nice car as cool rather than what it is: an expensive toy.
As for cheap, I drove a 2001 Accord until literally a year and a half ago. Probably would've been longer if not for some weird circumstances that saw me trade out for a 2012 Camry for free.

i have a mk7 with the dual clutch and adaptive suspension. its an absolute dream to drive. Ive had it for a little over a year now and everyday i get to drive it i still find myself smiling.
