Its hard to say mens. For me they are amazing and i read the whole saga couple of times. As i'm polish the books feel "close to home" if you know what i mean. Try one, maybe you will like it
You can play the whole Witcher trilogy if you dont mind the age of the 2 older games.
They have a great atmosphere and the storytelling is great.
the books were utter shit compared to the game though
like literally less detailed and less exciting the game tells a better story than the author lmao

Because it is. That doesn't mean it is a bad game, it just means it is overrated. People pretend it is the best thing since sliced bread which it clearly isn't. It is not a perfect game but yet people claim it is. The best things the witcher 3 has going for itself is the great story and quest design while the gameplay is hardly groundbreaking and has flaws.

it is mostly insanely good because of the very involving story
and yes the gameplay and progression and also the skill aspect isn't very exciting
but just for graphics and story alone its insane can't expect anything more
it is still the best game i have played in like 10 years
shitloads better than skyrim for example

I'd give skyrim a chance with some QOL mods, you can get so immersed into the game, I've put hundreds of hours into it cause there's so much to do.
