unbiased top 20 2020 list
 |
United Kingdom iXuhi
1. s1mple - Simple has once again torn up the csgo scene, with, so far, a 1.27 rating against Top 20 opponents. The only reason he is above zywoo is because vitality have not won anything this year, whereas Navi won Katowice at the start of the year. 2. Zyw0o - Zywoo has been up there with simple for the entire year, being top two all year round. He would be number 1 in my list if he had any silverware for this year. 3. NiKo - Even while IGLing. NiKo has posted the third best stats all year around, and now he is with G2, where he doesnt need to IGL. His stats are only going to rise even more. I think this position has to be fixated for him. 4. device - Once again, posting insane stats all year round and staying with an Astralis team who has had roster changes due to medical leave on players. He has not won as many tournaments as you would expect this year, but is still being one of the most impactful players in the world on the best team of all time. 5. Ropz - How else would i put this. Ropz has kept mouz in the top 30 teams this entire year whilst playing the b site on mot ct maps. 6. Elige - During a bad year, for Liquid's standards, elige has once again been that player who is always there to drop 25 frags a game. He is the solo carry of Liquid when NaF doesnt perform and is the best NA player of all time. 7. BlameF- Blame has been carrying Complexity whilst being the IGL throughout this entire year, even winning a big tournament against Vitality. Without Blame complexity would not be anywhere near the team they are today. 8. Electronic - Recently, his performances have fallen off, but throughout the rest of the year, especially at the start, electronic was one of the best players. From NaVi's Katowice run he had incredible showings and has mostly remained consistent all year. 9. huNter - This guy has been G2's shining light throughout this entire year. In G2s rough patch and in their highest highs hunter would always be seen top of the leader board without baiting his entire team. 10. Magisk - IGLing for most of the year for astralis, whilst also being their second joint highest rated player beside dupreeh is an achievement. He has been consistent all year round and is always so reliable for astralis. 11. Syrson - What an amazing addition sysron has been for BIG. He has been their highest rated player this year, whilst keeping his team in the top 5 teams for a lot of the year, from being ranked 20 or below. Practically solo carrying BIG to a tournament. 12. NaF - The only other player apart from Elige who has been able to click on people this year. NaF being moved to the primary AWPing role hasnt stopped him from fragging and keeping Liquid as a top team. 13. Mantuu - Where the fuck did mantuu come from? He has carried OG along with Valde to number 6 in the world, even reaching a final which they lost against a FaZe team about to crumble. 14. Stavn - stavn, an 18 year old kid who came out of nowhere, has lead Heroic to be a top 3 team for most of the year, even winning ESL cologne, once again against Vitality. He has been Heroic's go to fragger for the entire year and is a huge part to his teams success. 15. Xantares - This is expected, the biggest onliner of all time being in the only top 20 list based off of mostly online cs. Regardless, he has been putting up monster stats for BIG and showing why he is in so many highlight reels. 16. Brollan - Kept Fnatic as a pretty good team throughout the year. His stats show why he is one of the most exciting young talents, and he could easy break into the top 10 next year is Fnatic get their shit together and kick JW. 17. Nexa - Being the IGL of G2 and a consistent top fragger is enough to get you into this list, which is why Nexa is here. Nexa has lead G2 to multiple finals earlier in the year, but has not won anything, which is why he is not higher rater. 18. dupreeh - Dupreeh has retained monster stats whilst seeing the roster moves that astralis have made throughout the year to compensate for Xyp9x and Glaives medical leave. He had won a big tournament in a reverse sweep against NaVi and thats enough to get him on the list. 19. Broky - The second best player this year on Faze, behind Niko. But lets be honest, only 2 players would be better than Niko on that team. Broky has evolved into a Device style awper and is using it very successfully, being one of Faze's most important players and an extremely good clutcher. 20. yuurih - It was either him of Kscerato, but ive gone with yuurih. Though this is NA cs were talking about, him and his team have grown to become the most threatening team in NA, playing a CS style that only reminds us of Fnatic back in the day, being the most important piece to Furia's puzzle.

if ur not providing statistics to back your rankings I think there is no way to avoid bias, since opinion is inherently bias

i based my list off of this: hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2019-11..

great list I would say BlameF might go much higher Elec, Magisk, Ropz might struggle even making it to top20. S1mple is not only Katowice winner but also the MVP there and also MVP of season 12 esl (so so far 4 big tournaments 2 he is the MVP). And the actual rating that shows is not accurate for some reason you need to look at the profile (you can copy&paste the ratings in spreadsheet to validate as well) hltv.org/stats/players/7998/s1mple?start.. hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. look in the boxes where it shows the rating based on the top5, top10, 20, 30 and top50 they are more accurate.

"look in the boxes where it shows the rating based on the top5, top10, 20, 30 and top50 they are more accurate." and how exactly do you know that? if you filter top5/10/20 on players page then you can see the same number which you can see when you filter all players and set vs top5/10/20...the number in the box is completely different from those 2 ways so why this one is the accurate one? bcs s1mple has it higher? just asking...
2020-11-20 19:27

You can copy&paste hltv.org/stats/players/matches/11893/zyw.. and get a total of sum ... you will see the boxes are more accurate than what appears on the profile

you can copy and paste it to where exactly? you use this filter hltv.org/stats/players/11893/zywoo?start.. or this filter hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2020-01.. and you can see the same number...but in the box is the more accurate based on what?

of course he can .. especially with winning a couple of tournaments and making a clear distance in ratings against s1mple for now he is in a major deficit and its a stretch to put him as a contender (at this very moment) but things can change more than a month left :)

1. achievments arent as important as they used to be. s1mple being second last year is great example of that 2. vitality overall as a team had probably better year so that 1 trophy doesnt change anything

Like you said before in #9 Vitality overall being a better time doesnt count towards the rankings, but i think that simple has a trophy, which he carried his team to, will count more.

yes they won 1...1 event from whole year and reached only 2 finals overall. they were actually 8th best team that year and yet s1mple was second before both elige and dev1ce even tho that they had much, MUCH more achievments and great stats as well. achievments clearly arent as important as they used to be and 1 event win surely isnt the deciding factor at all especially if we consdier that vitality probably had better year overall
2020-11-20 19:31

first, you are wrong "1. achievement arent as important as they used to be. s1mple being second last year is a great example of that" winning top tier tournament and also being an MVP is apparently not achievement enough for you! while you are doing wishful thinking of giving away MVPs like Mr. president S1mple has actually got two twitter.com/eslcs/status/131286257611672.. hltv.org/events/4901/iem-katowice-2020 again wishful thinking Vita is doing better than Navi... why? hltv.org/stats/players/events/11893/zywo.. hltv.org/stats/players/events/7998/s1mpl.. the only s-tier vita has done well in is cologne and blast finals so you can hope for whatever pleases you the facts are different
2020-11-20 19:49
3 replies
are you drunk or something? 1 event win 1 mvp from WHOLE YEAR? and yet it was enough for top2. its not wishful thinking, its simple fact... "while you are doing wishful thinking of giving away MVPs like Mr. president S1mple has actually got two" only 1. hltv doesnt count other mvps and you should check all teams in events where vitality did well...btw im not saying that zywoo will be or even should be 1st. i only said that he can still be first so stop being that mad about it
2020-11-20 19:52

I am not mad i just pointed out that you were wrong ... Navi had won a tournament and yes that counts as an achievement :)

it surely is an achievment. i never said it isnt man. its always an achievment if you win and on top of that with mvp...but rememer old days. kennys being nuts and not even top3...hltv kinda changed their way in that aspect
2020-11-20 19:56
if hltv gave mvps this year zywoo would've had 3, arguably 4 of them. s1mple has 1 and woul've had another 1 for epl i don't think that kato trophy is that crucial

In the Vita vs CoL event. Blame would have been MVP. In the Heroic vs Vita event, it would have definitely been either Teses or Stavn. Zywoo maybe would have has 2 max imo, only because others have came out of nowhere
2020-11-20 18:47

this could make sense, but this is not how they give mvps. look at dh malmo 2019 or cologne 2019
2020-11-20 18:54
"In the Vita vs CoL event. Blame would have been MVP" nope. zywoo was the best rated player of the event with decent difference hltv.org/stats?startDate=2020-01-01&endD.. and he was BY FAR the best rated player in the final hltv.org/news/29865/complexity-win-blast.. "In the Heroic vs Vita event, it would have definitely been either Teses or Stavn" nope. zywoo was by far the best rated player that event hltv.org/stats?startDate=2020-01-01&endD.. and was the best rated player in the final as well hltv.org/news/30529/heroic-edge-out-vita.. based on how hltv awards mvp zywoo would most likely take both

Theyre normally a lot more likely to give it to a member of the winning team if im not mistaken. Its only been a few times when theyve given it to someone who hasnt won the tournament

zywoo had like 4 mvps from tournaments that he didnt win last year. s1mple has few as well. if difference is pretty noticeable and especially in play off and final games then hltv usually gives it to the best player nowadays(since last year)

oh well hltv didnt award those mvps this year anyway so it doesnt change much tho:D but s1mple vs zywoo is really hard this year. if we look at stats then they have same overall rating but zywoo has higher impact and adr(2 really important stats)+he has actually more opening kills with less maps played which is another really important stat. s1mple has slightly better rating vs top20 but zywoo has still better impact and adr). zywoo has better rating vs top10 with better impact and better adr zywoo has better rating vs top5 with better impact and adr play off rating will be very important as well but we cant see it sadly... no idea who will take 1st but there will be a lot of angry fanboys:D

Honestly pretty accurate. however I think some of the na/sa players maybe a bit lower due to the opposition they played through out the year. It's possible only elige could make the top 20 list out of all the players or maybe all of them will just be grouped towards the bottom. With that being said if the na/sa players don't make the list this year excluding the list who would you have as 19 and 20 someone like kenny might be a 20 or 19 if that's the case due to his performance during the first half of the year and maybe Tesses would love to hear your thoughts here and again great list :D.

Cadian? HE has been decisive in very clutch moments and his IGLing was what brought heroic to number 1, i think he deserves atleast top 15, also Tabsen deserves a spot too, during BIG prime moments this year he was their best player overall, i think that should warrant him a 15-20 place. Sadly HLTV refuses to account the big online events in their stats filter so we cant check for sure, only way is to sort by event and that sucks so much ass to do or else wed be having a way better prediction on top 20 imo
