WTF Flashpoint? OG fans come cry
 |
Finland byrbyl
As an OG supporter, I'm fucking salty right now :D Although OG topped their group (like BIG and Fnatic) which was in fact the most hardest group to top, OG won't get to face a last chanche stage team - Fantic and BIG will. OG have to face mibr - and mibr is the strongest team - besides VP - that they could face. On top of that, they are on the harder side of the playoff bracket which means that if they beat mibr, they will most likely face Fnatic. In the other hand, on the other side of the playoff bracket, BIG play agains ENVY (!!!) and they don't have to play against the topdogs (OG nor Fantic). I don't know what the fuck is this shit, but it's shit.

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
It's double elemination bracket. Even if og lose to mibr, they will probably face dig in the lower bracket, which should be a free win.

Meh, you can't win a tournament by avoiding all the top teams. You're gonna have to face them eventually.

Yeah, so I'd rather meet them at the ens of the tourney, not at the start.

Like I said, you're going to have to win against them either way. The last two teams standing are the ones who have proven to be the best. If you get eliminated early, that's just your own fault and not some inherent bias.

that's such a stupid way to think about it, makes all standings (like 3rd, 4th) irrelevant etc.

That’s... just how the game works. You lose, you lose. You win, you win. Nothing stupid about it. Plus, you have two chances in a double elimination format. Want to make sure you do well? Don’t lose twice.

What is the point of group standings if they aren't used for seeding? If they don't matter then why did they have to play the group finals when both teams were already qualified for the playoffs? It is stupid. That's like having a nadal v djokovic match in the round of 32 of wimbledon. It doesnt make sense because you would want to see these players facing in the (semi)finals.

OK, you're putting words in my mouth. Show me where I said that group standings don't matter. This entire OG vs MIBR match was decided purely by seeding determined by the group standings. It seems to me that OG fans don't have enough faith in their team to the point that they're afraid they'll be eliminated early when the entire point of this tournament is to actually win it.

> That’s... just how the game works. You lose, you lose. You win, you win. Nothing stupid about it. Here you implied that it is fine that the group rankings dont matter. Anyway it was my bad because I thought that *3* teams qualified from the last chance stage so I expected that group winners would get matched against them, which now I see it is clearly impossible because there are 3 groups and only 2 last chance teams. Also I'm not even an OG fan. I just legit thought FP discarded the previous results which would have been pretty ugly ngl

That was in relation to teams needing to verse each other early on, not a dismissal of rankings as a whole so I'm sorry if that wasn't communicated properly. I mean, it would be pretty stupid to assume FP just matched teams randomly in playoffs instead of using game wins and round differences to sort them out so I'm not sure what OP is complaining about here when it's partially OG's fault that they're placed against MIBR.

OK, so it's pretty clear now you don't know how playoffs are determined. Out of all the teams that topped their groups, BIG is number 1 because they did a flawless 3-0 run. That leaves Fnatic and OG tied at 3-1. Fnatic is ahead because of the round difference so that gives them the priority in being matched against the second "Last Chance" team. Meanwhile, if you compare MAD LIONS, VP and MIBR, the first two teams went 2-1 in terms of games. MIBR went 2-2. That puts MIBR as the worst seeded team out of the three and therefore puts them against OG while VP and ML are put against each other. C'mon, did you actually think FP just drew playoffs out of a hat at random? There's an actual process. If OG wanted an easier opponent, they should've won all their games.

it's stupid because matching the teams properly you could play the same amount of matches and actually get proper rankings from first place to nth place. strictly speaking you're correct that if you only consider a tournament win you have to win all the other teams but as a reply to someone who complained about the seeding that doesn't make any sense because you could do it much better without any extra effort (if it was done badly which it might not have been, haven't checked, probably just bad luck)

I mean if you lose a playoff game at the start of the playoffs, you have way more pressure (vs at the end of playoffs) because you have to grind the whole lower bracket.

I mean, in a month of training they took a map of Astralis, Big, G2, beat Furia, beat Envy and beat ForZe.

if og a top 10 team, they have to be able to beat mibr

They should be able to but mibr is not a bad team by any means. Close games against G2, Astralis, 2x BIG and win against FURIA.

the first game against big was not close at all, 2x 16-4 and a suprise win on vertigo, big were trolling most of the time. the second game though, mibr looked rly good and big struggled to win.
2020-11-23 13:49
mibr is a pretty good team, but og still has to be able to beat them if they want to be a top 10 team because mibr isnt top 10

the only good team in the bracket with og was VP. Gen.G and c9 are a joke. BIG's group had MIBR, a pretty good team currently, ForZe, an inconsistent CIS team which can upset top teams and Envy, which is a garbo team. Fnatic had an easy group though tbf, only somewhat good competition was Mad Lions, and they haven't looked that good recently.

Mad Lions have been looking good? They have only played like a month with new roster and beat fnatic x2, taken Navi to OT on map 3..

Joke team if you are worried about mibr tbh
2020-11-23 07:17

I look at the event page mens. I was shocked with the 500k. I thought it's just another event like nine to five. I mean look at the team roster, Contact, forze, envy. The only team in top 10 only big and og.

OG got the hardest group compared to fntc and big as well they've been shafted the whole tournament Just means they're more prepared now and the wins they do get will be sweeter
2020-11-23 22:55
Its a bit boring to see fnatic going agains Dignitas again, i think it would make more sense bracket-wise to be fnatic vs MIBR, and OG vs Dig. But in any case, this seeding is better for flashpoint, fnatic brings in more views, but is considered the weakest team out of the EU tier 1 invites (BIG, OG, fnatic) So having them going further easier is better for the tournament, same for BIG, who has had a flawless run. At this point the TO are just hoping that all 4 teams, OG,VP, fnatic and BIG go as deep as possible.
2020-11-23 23:23
Who cares who OG plays, need to beat every team to win the tournament EZ Clap

Listen, it doesn't matter who they play. If they choke - they lose. If they don't choke - they win. They can beat anyone if they're in the right mindset, and if they choke - doesn't matter who's the opponent. Outcome almost entirely depends on them.
