2020 big event ratings
Other VeryGoodGuy
so since hltv doesnt list online events as big events, i filtered the tier1/1.5 events of this year to look at the performances of players, rather than checking their ratings against top5/top10/top20 etc. I used Tier1 online eu events, Katowice and ice challenge, CIS rmr events, DH Opens, Flashpoint 2, blast finals, blast series and blast showdown. Enjoy hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2020-01..

if you calculate average extra kills per round you get +6.5 kills for sïmple vs +5.3 for zywoo this proves simple needs to get one extra kill because vitality play 6v5, and hltv still doesn't give him the #1

Unfortunately, this is not a 1v1 tournament, and 1 player can't carry in all the maps. Vitality was the better team on average, across ALL the 5 maps, definitely. However, s1mple was the better player, considering ALL the 5 maps, on average. Team winning tournaments doesn't really affect the individual rankings, even though it probably will, since they are as close as a hair. (check #37). If it was a 1v1 tournament, this is what happens: hltv.org/events/4870/omen-challenge-pres.. But it's not. In the final match (vs Vitality), s1mple had more opening kills than zywoo, more 1vX clutches than zywoo, more multi-kill percentage than Zywoo, more team contribution than Zywoo (KAST), more impact rating than Zywoo, more ADR, more KDR, etc. Even in head-to-head duels, s1mple won against Zywoo (Spunj mentioned). Every single thing. It's just that Shox's aggression on Ovp made the team mentally scared and they lost. Nivera and Apex's aggression caught Navi off-guard on Inferno, and s1mple was always on the wrong place. God Zywoo showed up on mirage in 1st 2 rounds and destroyed them mentally. Only s1mple was hitting shots, and pulling off clutches on Mirage, and he did kinda well. Flamie couldn't win a single 1v1 duel, Perfecto couldn't anchor B even once, boomich called like shit (On T side, 1 go A, 1 go B, 1 go mid and then lose to time. 3 times), never checked corners. Navi had 3 time-outs left, blad3 didn't call in to help out even once. Electronic couldn't shoot players in the back. What can s1mple do alone? When Navi were 0-6 down on D2, he manned up with consecutive quad-kills and full gun round ACE to get Navi back and solo-carried them. He hard carried on Nuke. He can't keep doing it every single time. There's a reason why majority of people (about 75%) voted him as the player of the match. It's just that Zywoo's mirage performance at the end, made people forget what had happened in the remainder of the series :(

yeah thats right...but csgo issnt a 1v1 game its a team game and if a team issnt performing well all 5 players and coach has to think about it... in 1v1 yeah simple is the best atm thats clear but u can buy shit with a god k/d but no titel. And its not new that simple issnt easy to handle as team mate.i would love to see this navi line up -simple + idk mir or someone and see whats happen. Have a nice day dude

I also think s1mple was better in final overall. But I've re-watched the final while listening to podcast and I noticed some fun fact. If we count eco as to when opponents have no armour and at most upgraded pistol and force as to when they have armour + pistol/smg/scout/etc s1mple had 13 kills on enemies forcing and 16 eco frags while zywOo had 7/8 kills on forcing (depends how to count when e.g. electronic picked up rifle from shox on force) and only 4 eco frags in 5 maps. No joke :D IMO that speaks of s1mple high fragging no matter what the situation is (he had 4 eco multi kills) and putting himself in positions to do so (maybe he wants to do all by himself knowing how good he is) and that ZywOo plays much more "in system" on those ecos while mainly apex is hunting them. It's is also true s1mple had more opening kills but he also had less opening deaths (7 vs 11) so it seems he better chooses when the fight is favourable while ZywOo was going first and dying too. Also I don't know where you found that s1mple had more clutches? ZywOo had 4 and s1mple had 2. Still s1mple was better overall but ZywOo certainly wasn't absent. ZywOo in final (2 1v1 won and 2 1v4 won): hltv.org/stats/players/clutches/11893/1o.. s1mple in final (1v2 + 1v3 won): hltv.org/stats/players/clutches/7998/1on.. PS entry stats on T-side in final -> hltv.org/stats/players/openingkills?star.. s1mple attempted it in 16.1% of rounds; ZywOo in 24.1% of rounds. If you switch to CT-side then s1mple attempted it in 20.7% of rounds and ZywOo in 16.1%. ZywOo is much more of an entry on T-side in final and in 2020/2019. It's just a fact.

If team victory was the criteria, then device would have been number1 in 2018 - 13 (MVPs+EVPs), 2 major MVPs, one of the highest rated players of the year, and won most of tournaments in 2018 (2018 Astralis is considered one of the most dominant teams in CSGo). It is indeed factored in, albeit a bit differently, contrary to what might be the popular opinion. And it still wasn't even "close" to s1mple. s1mple still holds the record for highest individual peak in all Tier1 CSGo history: hltv.org/news/25880/top-20-players-of-20..

anything except EU/international tourneys is irrelevant because every other region is trash, so remove cs summit, rtr cis and you have an ~accurate ish list

cis rmr i understand, but cs summit was easily tier1

It's not about the teams participating. It's about the official designation. It is officially an A-Tier ( aka Tier2) tournament, just like CIS/NA RTRs.

liquipedia's tournament rating system is not the "official" one, you know it right?
2020-11-24 12:35
2 replies
Yeah, where did I mention Liquipedia? It's a known fact that Major qualifier events are considered Tier2, regardless of the region. Only main events are S-tier/Tier1. If we only look at the teams participating, then even gamers without borders would be S-tier, since it had BIG, Navi, Faze Clan, Fnatic, NiP, Mousesports, and prize pool of 2 million dollars. But it's irrelevant.

Major qualifier events are normally tier2, but this year's eu major qualifiers are nothing but tier1 Gamers without borders didnt even have the normal format, so its a different thing

To be quite honest with you, thats not always a good thing....less kd, more rating could mean u play stupid and die cz of that or u actually entry a lot like zywoo....the 2 players are really even in skill, gamesense etc. Etc but their style (or at least their roles in the teams) are different...zywoo is the awper but on some maps he doesnt main awp on t side/ ct side or not even at all and he plays entry with riffle (inferno/d2 t side, inferno ct side for example...i feel like navi would be much more succesful if they would use s1mple in a similar way, we all saw in the finals again how unstoppable he actually is, doesnt matter if riffling or awping, he could easily create all the space in the world, boombl4 and flamie just can never ever create

if you have very good rating, you can still replace high, look at ropz and w0xic in 2019. But yeah mir probably wont make it that high, since he only played in cis rmr events and esl pro league

definetely not number 4 but i think hes a sleeper pick for number 20 on the list, he had a godly year even against strong opponents, kinda like valde in 2018, although he played way less maps sadly
