Too many people calling everyone and everything socialism or a socialist. In your own terms, what's socialism, don't look it up. Stop calling everything socialist

Look it up. It's on wikipedia.

in general, yes. strong state power = socialism. taxes, "free" health care and education, benefits. while socialism can be fully capitalist economy, semi-capitalist, or not capitalist at all (this is communism).

Lol what a thread, man. You better read it at least on wiki, or try to read Marx or Lenin to understand

There's nothing complicated about it, you don't have to read a bunch of 200 year old books to understand it. It's when private property (private businesses) is banned. Instead of one person owning a factory and workers working for them, the factory is owned by the workers who work in it.

socialism is when the government does stuff and the more stuff it does the more socialist it is. and when the government does a whole lot of stuff, then its communism. fr tho socialism is just when the workers own the means of production and distribution nothing more to it. if you're marxist then its the transitional state (like USSR) between capitalism and communism, communism being a stateless, classless, curency-less society

This isn't right, taxes and even welfare don't make a country socialist, every country on earth has the former and all modern capitalist countries have some form of the latter. A socialist country is one where private business is outlawed and instead owned by the workers who work in the factory -- This is typically called collectivization.

but arent these 3 things most common for socialist parties?
2020-11-25 01:37

Collectivization exists almost nowhere. Taxes and welfare are built into every parties platform in some way. One party might want to raise taxes for expanded medicare, another party might want increased funding for border patrol. Certain parties might be against welfare, bug this isn't a socialist/capitalist thing. Many capitalist parties around the world support welfare programs.

It's when you want to take the product of my own work and give it to somebody else by force, and use the state as a tool for this purpose.
