Pushups
 |
Lithuania aikaz45
Hello. Tbh i dont know who i could ask, so why not you guys. Ive been semi athletic most of my life, just the begining of this year I was doing 100 pushups 5 days a week. Ive had a long pause (like 5month pause from training) and i came back with the same mentality, pushed myself to do the 100 pushups 2 days in a row and after that i can barely do 10. its been a week since this general weakness, and im kinda freaking out, because i have never had any problems doing 30 pushups and now i can barely do 10. Mentally i feel like i can do 100, there is no pain. just after about 10 it becomes impossable. Iv? been doing these 10- 20 pushups for this entire week tryin to work through it. should i just avoid chest excersises at all or keep trying?

no anger i just imagine some 60kg kid aspiring to look like some tv hero by doing 1000 pushups a day but chances are you'll get good at doing pushups and maybe get some pushup related muscle but in the end it is pretty worthless

if that's a real workout, which I mean it's a weird workout but ok, working out every day is VERY inefficient for your body. muscles take a full 48 hours to regenerate completely, so the more days in a row you workout, the more at risk of injuring or even losing muscle you are. it is very important to let your body rest every now and then.

hmmm not necessarily, perhaps you should try making different muscles work when doing pushups. sometimes movvements can lead you to working on the wrong muscle groups even if it doesn't hurt idk weird ass problem though, I've never heard of performances being lowered that much, from 100 to barely 10 in one day except for overexercising.

When I come back from a break, I always find that about 50% of what is limiting me is mental. Just understand that you are stronger than your body thinks you are. Keep pushing forward and you'll get there. It's not going to come back instantly.

Work through it slowly, do 1 or 2 weeks where you just do 10 and no more. Then follow up 1 or 2 weeks with 15 or 20 pushups and build your way back up to 100. It would make sense that you just can't go right back into 100 pushups after having a break from it.

Doing pushups alone is not going to get you anywhere. Get a gym membership, BE CONSISTENT, and get STRONK. When that is said, if you still want to make this amount of pushups, DONT DO THEM EVERY DAY. You will not get stronger if you do it every day, why? because recovery is key.

Well, the problem is that you haven't worked out for a long time, just do push-UPS more often now, and you'll see in time how you'll press 100 times again. I remember having the same situation two years ago. Sting bar 50kg, two weeks of rest, and 50 was given with difficulty, but after 2 weeks again of training 50 began to be given on easy.

just take 2 days off. I was in the same shoes 2 weeks ago, I got sick and couldn't workout for 3 weeks as I was hella weak (at least felt like it), then 2 weeks ago I wanted to go back to the program I was doing earlier. Tried the 100 pushups, if I was still able to do them. Finished successfully on the first 2 days, but on the 3rd, I couldn't finish the 100 pushups, got to 80 only and not to mention the other exercises I'm used to doing after the pushups. I tried on the 4th day, got only to 55 and it kinda scared me, so I took 2 days off, no lifting, nothing just chilling. After 2 days of complete rest, it worked out again and I'm going strong since then. M T workout, W chill, T F workout, then I like to switch between Saturday and Sunday, which one to workout on and take a break on, depending on the programs my wife has for the weekends :) Don't forget, that your muscles/body needs to recharge as well and if you're surfing on hltv forums all night (maybe gaming as well), you must have a bad sleeping schedule, not enough time for your body to repair the muscle tissues.

Your numbers don't match up man. A healthy person wouldn't have such a big downfall in just 6 months time. The only logical explanation I have for it is you either cheated back in the days (like not doing the full motion required) or you caught some muscle degeneration because of disease. I've taken a break of over a year and dropped from around 60 push ups to 40. Just to give you an idea of what can be considered normal.

Sorry man I misunderstood you. I thought you meant you could only do 10 now. So what happend is very normal, you overdid it a bit and now your muscles are very fatigued. Get some rest (like a week) and come back stronger.

Here are a few reasons that i can think of: - You are now taking "better" push-ups. Closer to the grounds, ass is properly straight so on - If you went from 100 - 0 out of no where for a week your muscles will begin going out of practice. Soreness comes back after a week of not training said muscle which means your strength in that muscle is going away. - Perhaps you are sick? - Are you doing the push-ups on a different floor? - Is there some sort of other training you did with your arms you stopped doing? - Are you properly eating and drinking before hand?

When you dont work out a muscle group for a while, it gets worse at managing endurance. It also takes longer for it to recover properly. Start by doing it every two days until you get into it. Remember, it is not the workout that makes your muscles grow, it is the wait between the workout. If you over-strain the muscles, they will break. Every workout breaks down your muscles, but if you over strain them they will break down in an unhealthy way.

its because the workload of muscles and central nervous system is way too much and cannot recover. Don't workout every day same muscle groups. muscles and strength is built while resting after eating properly.

Work on other muscle groups, gain weight. Doing pushups every day is healthy, however if it is the only muscle group you are working, it will become exhausted. Try other exercises.

Start slower but you can start doing more as time goes on, if you have had such a long break from working out remmeber that it's important to have break days you body probably can't handle to workout so much 5days a week and if you always train to failure and don't let your body rest you will not see any improvements and instead you will just hurt yourself maybe 3-4 days a week will work in the beginning and try to listen to your body and understand just how much it can handle, and doing other excirses then you pushups is important work out other muscle groups in a rotation so that when you are resting your chest and arms you can instead work legs for example. Working out is fun but it always feels bad in a way coming back from a break I remember the same from when I broke both my legs, just keep going bro if you had it in the past it's alot easier getting back into it
2020-11-26 10:40
i can do 30 but thats about my limit, but i dont do exercise at all. like randomly every six months ill do 30 pushups to see if i still can. 100 is good though and to maintain that id imagine your muscles need to be dense and good, they can deteriorate and then the same things you found easy are hard again. This happened when I did removals for a while, after the first 2 weeks my whole body was aching badly but then eventually I could move furniture all day without any pains, but now if I tried I probably couldnt move a couch without being out of breath. im just rambling tbh, im putting off going to bed coz i dont want to wake up for work kekw. my point is that you cant expect the same results without the same hard work again, unless its like a baseline figure but your max will drop off if that makes sense
