6 man rosters

a simple and easy way for big orgs with big money to monopolize the scene and/or simply outplay teams who don't have such resources if this becomes mainstream we'll never see underdog stories again because the game is becoming so expensive at tier 1 /discuss

But having 6 players doesn't guarantee success. I assume teams wanted an extra player just in case someone got sick or didn't get a visa or something like that. I dont think the first idea was to change players between maps, that came later.

Look at Astralis, they have an insanely talented player in Bubzkji sitting on the bench, ensuring he cannot play for one of their Danish rivals, despite seemingly having no intention of playing him.

Maybe this will scare other players away from becoming a 6th player? They can see that it's not worth it.

I mean some will do it for the money. Id imagine if you are like a decent player along the lines of skill level from someone like a gade or cajunb in North for example, or GTR maybe, someone who simply will not be a part of a championship winning team. If someone like Astralis or FaZe offer you a role as a 6th, it could be very enticing. They'd be on high wages, and would more than likely have more time to spend with family, whilst still playing a few tournaments a year. Personally, I'd imagine 95% of players would obviously want to be playing full-time and would rather be on an inferior team to ensure that. I feel like a 6 man roster is possibly viable, but only if the 6th player fully understands what is in store for them and accepts that. I feel that Bubxkji was brought in at the wrong time, when es3tag started to really perform and when Xyp came back. He has been rotting on the bench since he left Mad lions, which is really unfortunate as he's a serious talent and he was a very exciting player to watch. He may have been blinded by the money and prestige of playing for Astralis, not fully understanding what implications that could have for his career. I do believe that gla1ve may be benched soon though and that Bubzkji will have his chance. If gla1ve isn't the IGL anymore then what is the point of keeping him on the team?

I wonder if gla1ve and xyp9x came back much sooner than expected and ruined es3tags and bubzkijs chances and that's why es3tag left immediately despite playing well because he knew neither him nor bubzkij were gonna personally bench someone from the classic Astralis lineup.

Every org in tier 1/tier 2 scene can have 6 man roster ;) You know that LDLC for example had 6 or 7 players under contracts tho only 5 were playing , u know that ALEX'S contract finished when he joined cloud 9 ,2 monthes ago , so during 6 monthes he was being paid to do nothing ? When players are benched they still get paycheck , your argument is 0 , gtfo of here , hater.
