Tier 1 - Tier 2 - Tier 3
Poland resistance_
where do you think is the border between tier 1 and tier 2, and tier 2 and tier 3?
2020-11-30 18:42
Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
There's 2 different ways of looking at it: Thorin's way: Tier 1 = Event winners Tier 2 = Event contenders Tier 3 = the rest in top20/30 Pretty good alternative: Tier 1 = top10 Tier 1.5 = top20 Tier 2 = top40 tier 3 = top50

you think its necessary to create tier 1.5?

I mean I would call it tier 2 but then it degrades a lot of the top20 teams, as they're more than capable of beating tier 1

now imagine, Navi and Vitality when going into a tournament would be in the same tier as FaZe XD good tier list bro

BUT where is the time limit for event wins? For example Navi won Katovice are they till tier 1? At the moment i wouldn't say that but THorins way isn't clear in that point

Na'Vi can be any team any time so I think they qualify for T1 for sure.

i personally prefer thorins way, because there is such a huge difference rn between say like vitality and faze, that they cant be in the same tier imo

But if your a contender to win an event (lets say quarter-finals/semi-finals), you aren't tier 2. Lets say old TSM (astralis core), were they t2 when they were in their only play-offs time

Tier 2 = Event contenders that shittiest way to put it, because big teams get invites even they suck.

Thorin only does a top10, in which he puts tier 1 and tier 2, and then top20 teams that he doesn't mention are tier 3

I think he means with event contenders the teams that go to play offs
2020-11-30 18:49
I think Thorin has it almost spot on imo, even though it's weird to call teams like BIG etc Tier 2 under this definition. I'd go with Tier 1: Favourites to win an event and the teams that will challenge them (usually the top 4 teams) Tier 2: Teams with the upset potential/ dark horse teams (usually top 5-10) Tier 3: Teams that get to playoffs in your typical DH Open Tournament Semi-pro: Anyone playing in events lower than Dreamhack (let's be honest, if you're not competing at the top in CS, you haven't made it)

I dont think HLTV ranking is bad but relating tiers to it dosent work because sometimes maybe all top 10 super close and competitive and other times only top 5 is really good while rest in top 10 not rlly gonna do much I think based on potential to win tourneys and upset potential in teams, so in online era is kind of weird to look at it but say vitality, heroic, navi, astralis, maybe big could all be tier 1, some of those teams really 1.5 kind of because of inconsistencies, then tier 2 would be teams that can make it far and in tourneys and has upset potential over tier 1 teams, then tier 3 dont have chance to win tourney but chance to upset tier 2 team, and tier 4 would be like teams that make it through to tourneys only from invite or online qualifier but dont have chance to win anything, maybe a miracle upset but thats it, kind of like Isurus at BLAST just how I like to look at it anyway, similar to Thorins view I guess
2020-11-30 18:55
Tier 1 = top 15 Tier 2 = top 40 Tier 3 = top 200 :)

Tier1: Teams that can win big tournaments, or constantly make it to playoffs: Vitality, Navi, Astralis, Heroic, BIG Tier2: Teams that can have good run in big tournaments, but they are not as consistent as tier 1 teams: OG, CoL, Faze, NiP Tier3: Teams that get rekt in group stage most of the time

+0.99. The only thing i'd add is T2 - they can snatch some titles from time to time.. faze, furia, etc..

right now, yes. they can fight head to head with pretty much any t1. it wouldn't be a major surprise if they win a big event, although we don't belive in them from the start. this makes them a t2 for me.

2020-11-30 18:55
imo t1 - teams that are contenders for winning t1 events, reaching semifinals+ on consistent basis t2 - teams that are able to advance from group stage in big events on consistent basis, can upset t1 teams and can win smaller tournaments t3 - teams that play mostly only small tournaments
2020-11-30 18:50
thorins way is dumb af, if youre vsing tier 1 teams consistently in tier 1 tournaments youre tier 1 its pretty simple. tier 1 - 1-15 tier 2 - 15-40 tier 3 - no one cares
2020-11-30 18:51
T1: Teams making playoffs of the big events consistently eg NaVi, Astralis etc T2 teams playing in group stages but also in dreamhack opens and such eg Spirit, Godsent etc T3 teams doing well in smaller events eg Endpoint, sAw

T1: 1-20 T2: 20-40 T3: no way to specifay under 40 since how much those teams' performance varies by tournament
2020-11-30 18:57
T1: Astralis, Navi, Vitality, Heroic, Big, G2 T2: OG, Godsent, Spirit, Furia, Faze, Nip, Fnatic, Sprout, Mousesports, North, Mibr, ENCE, Liquid, Mad Lions, Virtus.Pro T3: Rest of top 30 rankings and outside of it. Gambit close to T2 but havent taken part in bigger events that much Didnt mention rest of the NA teams because hard to say.

According to HLTV sprout won nothing, latest lan North won was is in 2018 (DH open), MIBR won last LAN in 2018, Godsent never won anything, same goes for OG and Mad Lions, and NiP's latest LAN victory was in 2017at IEM Oakland. Seems like you have pretty interesting way of counting teams in.

Top 20 =/ tier 1.5 chaos dont deserve it, if u think about top hltv, chaos better than mouse some random team take wasted place on top hltv bcs the level on CIS or on NA is rlly poor. imo actual tier is : Tier 1 = Vitality Astralis Navi Tier 1.5 (can win vs Tier 1 but can lose vs Tier 2 too ) = G2, Faze, Mouz, Furia, Complexity, BIG Tier 2 = Liquid, Mibr, OG, VP, NiP, MAD Lions, Fnatic, spirit (Gambit, Godsent, Ence, C9 and EG ?) Tier 3 = Chaos, Sprout, Nemiga, North, Team One, Triumph, Espada, forze (I do only top 30 hltv) That is better than top hltv imo

Teams that you listed on T3 are so hard to say, they have won like one or two events in their region, which cannot be compared to these bigger events. Anyways +1, one of the most accurate
