No, Niko is a great player and is worth every penny. There has been a lot worse transfers. You could argue about that -aleksiB was the worst move, same as -xseven +VAC banned player, who isnt that great prodigy that everyone thought of. Same goes for old after Boston Major C9 roster moves, most of them were pretty bad and so on

NiKo is so far the highest rated g2 player since he joined. I'd rather say that nexa isn't as good of an IGL as some people rate him to be.
