That’s because ur a filthy casual, but it’s ok you don’t have to play if it’s not to your liking Vaatividya explains everything about the lore and it’s enjoyable if you’re interested

With the exception of the bloody baron quest, every quest in the witcher is: theres X monster in Y place. You go to Y and discover that the X monster is not there anymore. Use your witcher senses to find where X monster is. You find X monster, kill it and then come back for reward.

Witcher 2 was popular in its time and was a great game. Witcher 1 was a runescape like style (top down), not a big fan personally. But that's still 2 out of 3 good games in both series lol.

Check some youtube lets plays or twitch streams and see which games suits you better. I personally like hard games, but dark souls was just too ugly from a graphic standpoint. The world just looked bland and boring to me. Witcher3 was beautiful, but way too easy. Finished it on hard without using more than 1-5 ability points and was still too easy.
2020-12-03 17:26
Gameplay & mechanics - Dark Souls Awesome lore, setting and characters - Witcher 3 Depends on what you like in a game.

wdym how does the Witcher have a better story than Dark Souls
2020-12-03 17:38

It's not that hard to understand. The Witcher clearly presents the story to you through cut scenes and game play interactions like quests and just small talk. If you want to know the lore/story of dark souls you either have to read every item and piece it together or watch a video explaining it. Most dark souls players have no idea what the story was more than that opening cut scene because they're playing it for the challenge not character driven drama lol

Never the less the story is still probably one of the best in video game history, even if it doesn't give you exposition, and if anything the fact that it makes it a semi-challenge to understand the lore is part of why it is such a good game, it keeps you engaged, knowing that everything you do could help you understand just a little bit more about this world~

I dont think a game that requires you to watch a youtube video to understand the story is "one of the best in video game history". "semi-challenge to understand the lore is...why it is such a good game" In reality the game is as popular as it is solely based on the difficulty and frustration this game brings. You have a friend tell you oh you can't beat this game, or you see a review online. Everyone thinks they're gonna be good when they buy the game. I'm not saying its not a good story, tbh i don't even remember it (i know i thought it was cool at the time at least). But the vast majority of players have no clue what the story is so it's hard to say its one of the best when this is the case.

You don't need a youtube video to understand it... In reality the game is as popular as it is based on the difficulty and enriching story as well as great gameplay this game brings. It is a great story and I think it is a vast generalization to think that most players don't care about the story. And in the end yes, it can be one of the best stories even if most player don't know it.

You don't, you can play the game. You just need to put in a bit of effort~ I know most dumbasses on HLTV just want the game to give you exposition because you can't understand anything by yourself

I'd rather not explain it because it would do nothing to advance my point, and I doubt my writing can do the story any service. If you care so much then learn about it yourself, it isn't by job.

I think lore is not the same as story, lore is more like background, the story you can see by yourself, your actions making story forward and as much i like ds, i must say that there is no story, yes, there is a target - link the fire, but overall nothing happening in the game, except characters questlines, but i would say, that they are not characters, but npcs who give you some little information to understand what is happening in this world, if we could change them on messages on the floor, nothing would changed

In some games that could be correct, but like you said Dark Souls doesn't technically have a full on story that would make any sense without the lore.

Witcher- focus on story, plot choices and characters, decent gameplay and exploration (not awesome but not bad either), low replayability because gameplay is just so-so and if you know the story why play it again? Still almost 100hrs to beat W3 and very good story dlcs, and Witcher 1 and 2 are also decent Dark souls- awesome and demanding gameplay, very good replayability as different builds play in different ways, but crappy story presented in very unfriendly way (like by items descriptions), you wont understand anything until you watch Vaadi lore videos on youtube, no real dialogues or rpg choices Conclusion- play both.
2020-12-03 17:52
Both great series. Dark souls will challenge you until you want to do bad things. The Witcher has good gameplay mechanics and story along with amazing graphics and cut scenes. Dark souls has a story and lore but its very hard to follow while playing, you'll have to listen to someone explain it to you on Youtube. I personally preferred the Witcher 2 over #3 (story wise) so if you like 3 make sure you give 2 a try.

"I personally preferred the Witcher 2 over (story wise)" You deserved the place in my personal hall of fame, absolutely based, also some mechanics in witcher 3 (for example alchemy) is way much simpler than in previous games. Imagine making a potion only once, so then you can just rest and all potion will restore OMEGALUL

Many people think the opposite. I have played every single game of both franchises and they're both fantastic in their own right. Dark Souls if you want a somewhat challenging RPG with fun bossfights. Witcher if you want to immerse yourself in a vast world with interesting characters.

i would have dropped it after few hours if i didn't have that trait that forces me to finish games. i saw it had good graphics, quality quests but damn that combat was so terrible and all these fucking question marks. AC odyssey got a lot of backlash, because of tedious side quests, but in witcher 3 everyone goes crazy for some fucking useless chests with garbage loot and each area has like +50 of them. In DS every loot counts, you always get something useful and that makes exploring really exciting. Just a perfect game.
2020-12-03 21:45
3 replies
heh, i would'nt say that every loot is usefull, there are a lot of garbage weapons, but on second playthrough i tried to looked as fashionable guy, so i didn't even look at stats, i tried use different weapons, i tried to experiment, you know and it was not boring. I agree about exploring, when i played new ds game i never knew what await me behind the corner, i tried to search every corner, tried to pick up every piece of loot and always read a descriprion for items. But when it comes to the witcher i get bored. First of all, creating such a huge open world with question marks simply ruining game experience, because you never know which lvl of enemy you meet, it sounds stupid, but i was fighting against some high-level beast for 15 minutes for 1 fucking chest with useless stuff, it happend to me couple times, so i decided that "exploration of world" does not worth it. Previous games were cutted into acts with their own open worlds and it worked, you could go wherever you wanted and kill anyone you see, in the witcher 3 the world exploration sucks ass unless you are mid-high lvl. Such a pity that i have outdated cpu and cant play sekiro, getting around 22-25 fps, but when time comes i will play it, cuz good games never gets old
2020-12-03 22:21
2 replies
well, i agree there are better and worse weapons, but you could keep track of what you got. the game wasn't bloated with useless crap and basically every armor is viable and most weapons, too with few exceptions. if they had removed the question marks and made these chests just optional like "dont appear on the map, dont bother"i would have enjoyed it much more. it sucked so hard for me to open the map and see it being bloated with this useless loots, especially underwater (god damn)
