HLTV Top20 Prediction
 |
Canada BayaGoodAdam
Criteria - Rating 2.0 on filtered events (Tier1 and Tier2) - Team Achievements on Tier1 events (top3 in EU, top2 in NA is considered as achievement, but NA achievements are obviously not equivalent of EU achievements) So I filtered events of EU and NA separately. EU players are evaluated on their EU stats (needless to say), and NA players are evaluated on their stats both in NA and EU EU stats (includes EU and CIS events, except for flashpoints) hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2020-01.. NA stats (includes NA events, IEM Katowice, and EU events that happened in last 3 months, which FURIA, Liquid and EG attended) hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2020-01.. 1. ZywOo Rating: 1.29 (205 maps) Notable Achievements - (1st) IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe - (1st) BLAST Premier Fall Finals - (2nd) BLAST Premier Spring Europe Finals - (2nd) cs_summit 6 - (2nd) ESL One Cologne - (2nd) DH Open Fall - (3rd) IEM New York 2. s1mple Rating: 1.29 (206 maps) Notable Achievements: - (1st) IEM Katowice (MVP) - (2nd) ICE Challenge (EVP) - (2nd) ESL Pro League Season 12 - (2nd) IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe - (3rd) IEM Global Challenge - (1st CIS) WePlay! Clutch Island Some of the important statistics: Rating 2.0: Zywoo 1.29 = s1mple 1.29 Impact Rating: Zywoo 1.38 > s1mple 1.35 ADR: Zywoo 85.8 > s1mple 84.4 KAST: Zywoo %74.8 > S1mple %73.9 Clutches Won: Zywoo 88 > S1mple 80 Opening Kills Rating: Zywoo 1.26 > S1mple 1.22 KPR: s1mple 0.85 > Zywoo 0.81 DPR: S1mple 0.60 > Zywoo 0.61 Overall, Zywoo has better Impact Rating, ADR (Average Damage per Round), KAST, Clutches Won, and Opening Kill Rating, whereas s1mple only has better KPR (Kill per Round) and DPR (Death Per Round). Additionally, Zywoo has more achievements this year, which is why I'm predicting that Zywoo will become #1. Stats that I used: hltv.org/stats/leaderboards?startDate=20.. hltv.org/stats/players/openingkills?star.. I know that a lot of people will say s1mple top1 because he won a LAN event. But, we only had 1 big LAN event this year compared to 10+ big online events. So winning one LAN won’t make a huge difference when %90 of this year was online. 3. device Rating: 1.20 (191 maps) Notable Achievements: - (1st) ESL One: Road to Rio - (1st) ESL Pro League Season 12 - (1st) DH Master Winter - (1st) IEM Global Challenge - (2nd) BLAST Premier Fall Finals - (3rd) ESL Pro League Season 11 - (3rd) DH Open Fall - (3rd) IEM Katowice 4. But HLTV can still place him in top20 depending on how much they value NA events) - jks (1.13-1.04) - broky (1.09) (I considered putting him at #19 instead of XANTARES, but I feel like HLTV will put XANTARES over him because of achievements) - cadiaN (1.08) - TeSeS (1.08) - KRIMZ (1.08) - frozen (1.08) - tabseN (1.07) - kennyS (1.07) - nexa (1.07) - niko (1.07)

Brollan was really good in the first 6 months, so I think he will make it. They also won Pro league, and made it to semis on katowice. mir might make it, but sh1ro? idk

well thought out list, there might be a few small number swaps (like blamef ropz switch) but overall I think this is really solid and possibly the most accurate prediction we'll get out of hltv forums

idk blameF did do his job well but u gotta admit his rating is mostly due to their playstyle, hence BaitF but ropzsports were literally a sinking ship for most of 2020. ropz was the only one performing consistently until frozen picked up form near the end of the year

bro but you can't say 90% was online therefore the 1 big Lan counts just 10% The lan season were like 5-6 Tournements in which s1mple played insane. + His mvp at Katowice as the only big Lan should have more wight than a big Online event, katowice should count double for a player or smt. I just really hope s1mple wins the top1 spot, cuz he deserves it as a player. Tired of those French Zywoo fanboys who play 4000 hrs of csgo and still are lvl 8 in facet. Noobs

1) 5-6 tournaments? there was Katowice and Ice Challenge (tier2 lan), then there was a blast qualifier, but idk if you can even count that. So only Big LAN was Katowice 2) Striker said that they will go back and reaward some MVPs and EVPs for online events (Source: youtube.com/watch?v=JpJUdwpYefk&t=6040s), which will give a huge boost to zywoo obviously, as he would earn like 4 MVPs, whereas s1mple would earn MVP only for ESL Pro League S12 3) In the same video, Striker also said that IEM Katowice won't have super big impact on the rankings because they want things to be fair for everyone. I don't remember which minute, but feel free to rewatch. After all those points, if you still think that s1mple will be top1, I don't know what else to tell you, but your opinion is respected

people thought device would be top1 because achievements used to be more important in top20 list before 2018, but they changed the criteria that year. This year zywoo and s1mple has same rating 2.0, but zywoo has better numbers in other stats. And since they are gonna give online MVPs at the end of the year, its %90 confirmed that Zywoo will become top1. The only way s1mple gets top1 is if they count IEM Katowice as 5 online events, but I don't think its gonna work that way.

sh1ro has a lot of potential, but like, he only played 1 tier1 event this year, and most of his stats are from tier2 online leagues, which are not taken into consideration by HLTV mir is similar with sh1ro in that sense, but mir played in a few tier1 events this year.

Good thread))) I think ropz>BlameF just based off of maps and results (both of their teams have been extremely up and down throught the year though), and EliGE>yuurih mostly over the watching the matches which I know isn’t exactly the best measurement, but Liquid’s performance at IEM definitely helped. dupreeh seems a bit high based off of only an 1.09 rating but he did seem a lot better than just 1.09 since he is an important part of arguably the best team this year.

Im pretty sure syrsoN will get at least #10 this year especially with BIG played pretty great on their last tourney. Otherwise this so far the best list i've seen in this forum.
2020-12-25 11:34
nice work mens))
2020-12-25 11:35
I appreciate your effort but I think some of the stats are not fitting for me. Like your tournament take is wrong for me. Idk how hltv doing this but every tournament despite really low ones, should be counted. BIG won also DH Open Summer and DH Leipzig which was LAN. Also some of them are unfair for me. Like even with your stats, there is no way Brollan and mantuu is ahead of XANTARES. XANTARES probably will be between 10 and 15, maybe even higher but as i said idk how hltv approach tournaments. also consistency is one of the most important thing and I don't see stavn has this. 8 is too big for him.

He achieved better things. Also as I said idk which tournaments counting but as i said again, consistency is important for me. They were consistent as also xantares was consistent. Even this list, Brollan konfig and mantuu should be behind xantares. Really low rating difference and achieved much less.

thats not how ranking works tho. Last year s1mple got #2 over device and elige, electronic got #6 over NAF, despite Navi not achieving anything. xantares MIGHT become like top13-15, but its not very likely
2020-12-25 19:34
Also if you look ratings against top20 teams, XANTARES is 13th.
2020-12-25 15:58
Too long for me but good list
2020-12-25 11:39
shox should be on the list. BlameF elige konfig should be lower.

bruh hltv counts lan effect MUCH MORE important than you think, so I don't see zywoo on 1st place

If Katowice had still been performed in front of an audience, why not. But no. The prestige of Katowice, yes.

For top 20 players they use the top 20 filter. hltv.org/stats?startDate=2020-01-01&endD.. Top 30 is irrelevant, top 10 and top 5 there isn't a big sample size.

hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2020-01.. this could also work, but it is not necessary

There's no point filtering events when the whole ranking is top 20
2020-12-26 00:50
1 reply
events like "Gamers without borders", "home sweet home", or tier 1 event qualifiers are counted towards stats if you dont filter those events, so there is a point

"I know that a lot of people will say s1mple top1 because he won a LAN event. But, we only had 1 big LAN event this year compared to 10+ big online events. So winning one LAN won’t make a huge difference when %90 of this year was online." It makes difference, when ZywOo won 2 big events and s1mple won only 1 big event, but LAN. Btw, even if all of these events were on LAN's, Katowice is much bigger than Beijing-Haidan or Blast Finals. So, s1mple is top1
2020-12-25 20:53
Also big part of ranking does all events count? in last years they dont inculde regional and shit tier evens, so CIS qual for major would metter? cuz s1mple had pretty much bad rating over there hltv.org/stats/players/7998/s1mple?event.. 1.14 in CIS OMEGALAUL If hltv ignore this even s1mple will go higher, also we dont see 70+ of stats like playoff rating etc will see for me battle for 1st place is not done yet

in other years regional minors were tier3, but this year eu qualifiers are tier1, and cis qualifiers are tier2, so I see no reason why they wouldn't count them
2020-12-26 00:57

maybe, but still they can make ranking in tier-1 events in tier-2 events and ofc tier-1 ranking is way more impactfull it's like big events CIS qual wont include there for sure
