2020-12-23 18:25
They work over 10hrs a day. Just try playing csgo casually for 10hrs and you will see how mentaly tasking and tiring it is.Now do it every single day for months and not casualy , but profesionaly which takes 10x more mental strenght and you will see just how needed that break is. +the pressure from org and the retarded comunity that shits on them for every little mistake it gets even worse for them.

Players always complaining about burnout but they have so much time off lul. They have two long breaks each year, and I doubt they even work 40 hours a week the rest of the time. They need a reality check.

Burnout has little to do with wether they play full-time or not. Also this gap is not time-off it's off season practice. Burnout is a problem because they have to play the same game for hours and hours everyday. Also most likely they play 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. That's what Astralis play and i know for a fact that S1mple plays much more then that

Are u kidding? u don't know how much pressure it is to actually play video games for money right? try to practice + play events for a year long and u would wish u have a 9-5 casual job. These players are under extreme pressure to perform and they work harder than at least 50% of population idiat.

just bad logic dude i wont argue their salary since i understand its a supply/demand system and athletes/entertainers will always be overpaid but if ur talking about how hard they work, people who work just as hard, or even harder than them get significantly less breaks

Well u cant tell, what if they only had 3 weeks off, would that really be enough. I mean its easy too say u dont need it when u have it. And i had a lot of teachers who needed it, some didnt, some just live and love teaching that much that its just their life. Just sth they really enjoy, i mean after all thats a life goal.
2020-12-28 04:17
dude u dont even know what ur talking about...teachers do not get just as long of breaks and when they do get their break during summer most have a 2nd job bc teachers are paid so little. Im not talking about teachers in the USA, no wonder ur education is so bad if the teachers dont get bad. In Austria u dont need summer jobs as a teacher, u earn more than enough. And u can easily do some 2nd job cz u got a lot of freetime anyways if you are a good teacher. But yeah 15 yo jelous NA boy is ofc upset when pro cs ppayers want to have break as well

2020-12-28 22:06
He isn't even right. A ton of teachers earn a good living in the US. My dad pulls in 85k a year which isn't amazing or anything but it's a comfortable salary as a community college professor. The teachers who make shit money are the part timers and people who are new. The average numbers make it look a lot worse than it really is. The longer you do it the more you can end up making like most jobs.

I'm talking about how football clubs are just becoming mega corporations worried about making a profit and disregard fans completely, especially match going fans (look at what they did in England with subscription fees when fans were no longer allowed). There are way too many examples of this, prime one is how some clubs want to build a "super league", which would essentialy be an American sports model without relegation with the biggest clubs in the world, just a way for club owners to enter a "money printing" system. I have no idea what conclusions you were trying to make after reading my comment.

football has really become shitty to follow in last few years. money taken and spent is so inflated. a new team in premier league can spend more money in a season than 99% of the teams worldwide.

i agree the lack of effort some T.Os have had during this covid season has been very low, it should be worrying for Valve. I hope Valve steps up. Only BLAST did a good job, ESL? (that basically gathers almost all tournaments with Dreamhack their partners).. they had like 3 people working on the broadcasts, with lags, delays, audio problems, ads. + a generic green screen on this last IEM Global Challenge that it was even badly placed. I seen random twitch streamers literally put more effort in making their stream interesting, than ESL. And thats very unfortunate. Cuz some have a few hundreds at the most to put into this, and others have millions. Richard Lewis said it, some T.Os are loving the covid situation. And its not casuality so many T.Os have dropped massively in the organization and production of them.

Aside from BLAST forcing other TO's to catch up after corona, a Valve tournament circuit would help the scene pick up a lot I like SPUNJ and Machine casting but they have done every single event for ESL and they have had the most events hands down this year and it gets kinda stale The greenscreen things are terrible as well, i thought the DHM one was ok but the other one with the audience stands was so fucking bad and ESL's space theme for the Global challenge was just dumb what was even the point it looked so low quality Then theres all the other shit about the pointless strikes against BLAST last event, FP forcing the semis and finals to be played so close together and giving the winners hardly any sleep/prep time that just ruin the games when you watch them knowing that people behind the scenes are making so many dumb decisions

You think events are all that matters to the pro players? Their seasons usually begin 10-15 days before the first event of the season. So having a 2 week event breaks would mean the players doesn't get a break

thank god there is break watch t1 play every weekend same teams against each other was so boring
2020-12-25 10:00
Look at it like this - Your favourite dish is interesting, only if it's a rare delicacy. Too high a frequency takes the joy away. Same goes with CS. You don't get too hyped when the same teams play each other, every other day.....
2020-12-25 12:53
You really think they are doing nothing during a whole month ? They take a well-deserved 2-3 weeks vacation then they will train and try to elaborate strats before the new season
2020-12-25 14:14

the game isnt rocket science to keep strating away for the last decade....thats just bullshit....games like chess need far more brains and lesser break than these cs pros take
2020-12-27 22:37

After establishing a game plan, executing a CS strat require more synchronization and timing than any chess play. On 6 differents maps, differents situations, whith each players needing differents knowledge on stuff. Or you can play like T2 ou T3 teams.

2020-12-27 22:42
Tournament after tournament is bad for the ecosystem anyways. Also if it wasn't covid times right now you might see plenty of players get burnt out from traveling if it was 1 event every other week. Remember Alex left Vitality because of exactly that.
2020-12-27 22:44
Let them chill a bit. Get a life in the meantime. Take a beautiful grill, make some babies. Work, buy a Tesla... when player break is over you will appreciate a better life.
2020-12-28 02:50
Well typically people with rare talents or skills will have more benefits. Not everyone can be a CSGO player who plays professionally at a top level CONSISTENTLY. Those that do will receive high pay and a nice vacation time. However, anyone can be a McDonalds worker. Its an unspecial job which does not require many prerequisites and no job experience. Little pay and little vacation time. Pretty basic logic if you ask me.

Not a lot of athletes here if you think players spend the FULL break taking time off. A lot of off-season time is used in bettering yourself as a player. This is usually the time you learn the most and practice it to make it second nature for when it's needed. Much harder to learn new things and execute them properly during mid-season.

Normally they would travel around the world all year and the player break is not only vacation but also boot camp and shit so teams can think about how their team operates, strats etc
2020-12-29 10:19
There is an enormous amount of preparation going into any official game. Players have full day practices nearly every day, and it's incredibly draining. They have to be able to perform at a high level day in and day out, and they can lose their job if they don't. Adding to all of that, excluding this year teams have to travel pretty much literally across the world all year long. It's not just "playing a computer game".
