Really enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul. Kaneki's overall character arc was brilliant and the surrounding characters weren't just boring copy/ paste jobs like they are in certain shows despite a few of them lacking in depth.
Liked Attack on Titan, but found Eren's constant whining a bit excessive. We get it. Stop feeling sorry for yourself with annoying monologues. This was particularly bad in season 2.
Enjoyed Blue Exorcist but watched it too long ago to give it a thorough critique.
Really enjoyed Fairy Tail as a fun bubbly show that could actually address some deeper issues despite some of the clichés in characters.
Currently watching Dr. Stone. It takes a few episodes to get into (4/5), but so far thoroughly enjoying it despite a few irritating recurring catchphrases. Characters ambitions/ goals are fairly well outlined by the first few episodes, and the introduction of new characters was a nice breath of fresh air.
I'd recommend it as it's just gotten better with each episode I've watched so far (10 episodes through, not too far in, but it's good so far)

I'm not a massive anime nerd and had to google what Shounen means.
Also forgot to mention I recently finished Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (was told that's generally the better one of the two in terms of quality) and found that to be a pretty good show despite a few odd moments.
Those animes all fall into that category (asides from possibly Dr Stone depending on how it develops as so far it's a lot less fighting/ action oriented), so you got any recommendations?

Death Note was my first anime and it is unironically an incredible show but it ends a bit anti-climactically. I would recommend that show to anyone who showed an interest in anime because it's a fantastic story and it's deeply intriguing. It doesn't have a bunch of the stuff that makes anime weird either.

Not really, it's mostly an action/adventure show with some thriller moments.
If you want real thrillers in addition to the death note recommendation I suggest you take a look at Monster and Code Geass. Two of the better thriller shows.

I love naruto but there are some points in the anime where it doesn't make much sense. Plot holes and random occurrences just to fit the story are a small part of the issue. Definitely not a perfect anime, if we're talking serious it's not that great maybe on the higher side of mediocre 7/10 overall. Still my favorite anime though.

Only thing Naruto shows is not giving up can do anything, and isn't realistic much. Also, 44 percent of shippuden is fillers and there is absolutely no logic behind fights for the most part. All the time new antagonist are shown with op abilities and then mc gains some op shit themselves and beats them. If you actually wanna watch shounen that makes sense and deserves 10/10, then watch fmab. That's how a 10/10 anime looks like. Naruto might barely be 8/10 after removing all fillers, and half of it is because it's characters are lovable, not the story itself.

There is nothing wrong with fillers. Just imagine they are having their break between seasons and they give extra "filler episodes"

Yeah no shit the MC beats them he has the fucking nine tails and has 100x more chakra than any other character. Not only that but he gets so much stronger in Shippuden to the point where he actually can stand toe-to-toe with pretty much any character from the Akatsuki.
I think Naruto is overrated and that's why is overhated by fans, and as for the concept of friendship I don't think it portrays it that good. You have a friend (Naruto) who wants to save his friend(Sasuke) and than you have(Sasuke) wanting to kill everyone on the village. Where is the good friendship here, wanting to kill each other is not good friendship IMO. Hunter x Hunter, Killua and Gon portray a beautiful friendship.

But Naruto does end up changing Sasukes mind, which is also a big part of friendship. Even though your friend has taken the wrong path doesn't mean you have to give up on him/her.
Anyways, thanks for the answers guys. I love Naruto myself, and yeah sure, it has some holes, but I was just wondering why it was given so much hate compared to other animes which has similar plot holes and character development.
Hunterxhunter is surely good, but it did, as far as I remember, end in a very weird way too.

I don't hate Naruto, I grew up watching that show and I love it still to this day. It's just that is so loved by most people and sometimes overrated as people claim it to be the Greatest Anime ever, and that's why it gets hate afterwards.

Tokyo ghoul is hated because it's manga is easier to understand but if you are somewhat intelligent and can understand things even without them being told, it's easy to understand too. Ofc it was rly good, but I'd give it around 8/10.
Toradora is 8/10 too, can't explain much but didn't have as high of an impact as for 9 or 10/10 anime.
Aot might be 10 depending on how it ends. If it gets an ending thats not happy but logical and satisfying it's gonna be 10/10.

What exactly do you like about boruto? The only thing i can think of is the animations. Everything else is totally fucked up. Espcially the story is weird since nothing really happend. I mean 83% of the current episodes are "anime canon" which are not related to the manga and therefore basically filler episodes.

Yeah sad that they waste the potential of boruto. I heard that it should soon become better. But i dont think that anime gets more and more chilidsh, it just depends on what genre you watch. I watched demon slayer when it started airing and dropped it like on the 13th episode or so because it kinda bored me. But actually the second half caught me again and it turned out to be quite good IMO. Also animations are obviously really good so you should probably give it another shot.

Why? I watched first 90 episodes so far and I like it but I don't think it is as good as people say. I mean if I were 12-14 years old I would probably fall in love with it completely but as mature guy I can't fully appreciate it and state it's a masterpiece. It is similar to Dragon Ball which I love till today because I watched it when I was a kid but I'm aware it's far from being perfect anime. So for me rating doesn't always match how much I love the series.
