First car advices
Germany Thomas_1210
I will be buying my first car this year and I need few advices, don't have much hope for HLTV but here we go. My budget is 20-40k, 4 doors are fine but I'm looking for a 2 door car with back seats, I will be mostly driving alone or with one person. Thinking about getting a new or slightly used. What are my options, I don't know much about cars, I mainly care for the look and comfort.

5-door is usually better than 3-door since the doors on 3-doors are often longer, meaning that they stretch further out when opened. This means that quite counterintuitively, 5-door cars usually fit easier into narrower slots than 3-door cars. To answer your question. Don't spend 20-40K on a car. Get a cheaper car and invest the money or something. Of course, if you really want a cool new car go for it. I just don't find it necessary. I find driving my MK.IV Golf more enjoyable than driving the more expensive cars of some of my family members even though it was in some cases almost 100K cheaper. I would never buy such an expensive car unless I really had the money to waste.

20-40k is cheap, I was saving for quite some time now and I have a lot more in my savings account, I’m willing to spend this money

If you really want to spend in on a car then go ahead. Just be aware that it will not be a profitable investment. My point is that I find cars under 10K just as comfortable (or in some cases more comfortable) than cars at 100K. Why throw the money down the drain if it's not even giving me a better experience. Again though, if you disagree then just go for it and buy one. It's your money after all.

With that kind of money I'd take Seat Leon Cupra or even Cupra Leon and ofc it would be ST model.
2021-01-13 13:03
I wouldn't spend so much money on a first car... chances are you'll make a mistake sooner or later and you'll scratch it, crash it, etc. Get something cheap, save the money and after a couple of years upgrade the car. Don't be one of the people that try to show-off with their car. Another piece of advice; don't buy a new car, it's not worth it unless you earn a lot of $$'s. They lose value the second you drive the car out of the showroom. Personally, if I was buying the first car again with that budget and insurance wasn't a problem, I'd probably buy an Audi A3 S-Line, Merc A Class, BMW 1/2 M-Sport (They are sick, fast, comfortable adn look nice, if you can get M135i/M235i). Anyway, that's my advice...

That's not entirely true. I bought a brand new car 3 years ago for 22k, the second I picked it up it has lost around 4-5k and after a year it has lost another 8k. For a first car, or someone that doesn't earn a lot of cash, it's probably not a great choice. If you buy from an authorized dealer, you can get guarantees too, I bought myself a second vehicle, BMW E60 from 2006, and it came with 3 years of warranty on mechanical parts, and I've never had a problem with it, it's been 1.5 years since I own it.

I'd suggest a cheap and basically outdated shitty rustpile since you need to do the basic stuff all by yourself and it's never a bad thing to learn! My first car was a 1992 Ford Escort with 1.8l engine and 0 additional equipments, and that one teached me a lot about driving & maintenance. Not saying you couldn't drive, just a mention. :) Then again, Finns drive old cars basically because of taxes, and I personally like to repair my own shitpiles. With your price range, maybe some of the Volvo XC series, Merc E series etc. Not sure what they cost in Germany, but surely less than in Finland.

Not yet I suppose, maybe in 5-10 years or so. :D Though I had the Ford about 9 years ago. New cars have a huge tax in Finland, so it's not an option for many. And it sucks tbh, if you don't live in a larger city and have access to public transportation.

I wouldn't advise spending that amount on a new car, if you're legit. You can pick up a perfectly sound car for 20-25K and you can invest/save the rest. I drive Mercedes CLA and for what i need it for, its perfect. Or get ahead of the majority and go electric. Some pretty sick electric vehicles hitting the market right now. That will be my next car. Probably Tesla or Jaguar I Pace.

Do you want small, medium or large car? I previously had a Golf 7 Highline 2020 model, best car I've had. But now that I live in the city and due to lockdown I bought an Audi A1 instead, since I rarely drive and just need transportation every once in a while. Forget BMW, it's more expensive than good, at least in Denmark. Go for Audi A1-A3-A4 or Golf/Polo depending on size. If you want stationcar, maybe go for A4 or Mercedes C-class. But it seems like waste to spend all of your hard earned money on an expensive car, so therefor I'd probably go with a Golf / A3.

Medium/small. Don’t want a big car that’s for sure. I don’t spend “all” my money on a car, I have a lot more saved but I don’t want to spend more than 40k on a car. I just want a modern good looking car that I will use for 10+ years with minimal problems.

For newer ones, basically you cant go wrong anymore. Every car manufacturer has OK cars now-a-days. Its just these "premium" cars costs more money to fix if they got any problems. I agree that Audis like other VAG group cars are actually REALLY good cars to drive. They are not that reliable tho and that's the worst part. Second worst part is that they dont have RWD. Also Audi/VAG has decent engines. Even the small ones like 1.4tsi are quite powerful and fun to drive (and mostly energy efficient). 3l v6 tdi is really nice one :P

In Finland we have crazy taxes and with 420 taxes would be fine. I was purely saying what I was considering for myself. If I'd had a lots of money I'd pick something other than that but at the moment I'd be really pleased with 420.

Answer should come from you...you just need to ask yourself the right questions: First car as in first owned car or first car to drive? If the latter, please consider buying a way cheaper car than 40k. Do you want sportier or more comfortable? Do you care about brands? Do you care more about the engine or features? Stuff like that.

2021-01-13 13:46
Depends on what your looking for, this post tells me that you're not a car enthusiast and thus dont really know a lot about cars. I'll put it like this; if you want something sporty with screaming v8 then you'd have to go with something american like a mustang or a camaro. These can be unreliable and if you dont really care for engines and "sportiness" then you should probably go for something german like an 8t audi a5 or an e-class coupe (i personally prefer cls) but since you wanted a coupe you might like it.

I care about look the most but I also want the car to have many modern features. I really like ford mustang 2016 look but I doubt they are reliable. I’m only starting to learn about cars, I will get a car in few months so I have some time to decide

How old are you and how much driving experience do you have? How much do you expect to pay for insurance and taxes? If you really just care for looks and comfort you don't need anything above 150 HP. If you really plan to buy a new car as a first you must be really stupid or rich enough to not give a fuck about anything financially.

I’m in my mid twenties, I buy it with my own money. I have more money saved but I don’t really want to spend more than 40k on my first car. I also don’t want an old car with few features and that will need maintenance every few months. I have experience behind the wheel, few trips with over 1000+ km and daily city drive, I just never owned a car before that I can call my own. I don’t know much about cars, I’m still reading and learning about them. I just want a sporty looking car that is reliable and won’t break often and had a lot of modern features like censors, cameras and so on. If you have more questions please ask, I’m all ears

I think a reasonable and cheap car would be a rolls royce phantom from about 20ish years ago, it'll be in budget and everyone will think you're really rich
2021-01-13 15:09
20-40k Budget for first car too much regardless of how wealthy you are start lower 10k tops because when starting out driving you should aim for a lower tier car to get a proper feel for driving so if you crash or fuck up it won't hurt as much and remember insurance costs for new drivers is even worse then people over 70

It will not be my first experience behind a wheel, I have driven cars for some years now, I just never had my own car and it’s time now.

Many wants you to buy an old car. My first car was a Mercedes C class, not the most expensive, but still a nice car you dont want to crash. I feel like it made me more cautious, of course you can never prevent some other idiot to crash into you. But insurance will cover it, as long as you don't buy the cheapest one out there. But there's always a risk of you f ing it up on your own, but that can happen even if you drive a old toyota or a Lambo

Vague budget and vague wishlist leads to shitty advice. You have to specify how much you want to spend on the maitanance, fuel and other typical expenses.

Subaru WRX STi, fits in your budget, 4 doors, pretty practical + you can have fun with it and it's reliable. You can drive it on the road and also rally it, and it's got AWD so it's stable in all weather conditions. The only negative is that it doesn't have a very nice interior and isn't luxurious, but if that's not what you're looking for, then this is a great car.

asking for car advices on a csgo forum you're retarded
2021-01-13 16:00
Buy a car with 4 doors, you'll thank me later. Having 2 doors is cool, but not practical at all, specially if you stay with the same car for 8-10 years and maybe by then you have family or even a dog, it makes it a problem, even to carry some friends it's always a shit having to go outside so they can fit in. About the car, Mazda 3/Toyota Corolla or something like that is enough (20-25k reliable car with enough safety and tech on it), cars devaluates a lot, so don't go for a superpremium car spending all your savings, specially now that maybe in some near future diesel/gasoline cars are gonna be ban on big cities.

if you're looking in the 20k range there are many in the Mazda (3, lower end 6's, cx model suvs), honda (lower end civics), and Toyota lineups that have good quality for the pricerange 30k range you're looking at higher end Subarus (BRZ, WRX, WRX STI), Hondas (basically all the higher end CIVIC models), Toyotas (GT86), or Mazdas (3 turbo, higher end 6's, Miatas) you really have to lookout for listings in your area, pinpoint a pricerange based on that, what style of car you're looking for the n find the best deal I know at least where I'm at, we get lots of snowy weather even in the some falls or springs so getting AWD was ideal but also depends on your local dealers

wtfff you mental boy, whats problem i want my first car to cost 2 mil, where is the problem. First of all not everyone is a loser who cant drive even if it was first time driving car you can master it, if you suck at driving after some small time you just started chances are you will suck at driving many years later, and he just said its his first car not first driving expierience.

it depends a lot on where you live, i'd say a golf is usually an amazing first car to have, but with your budget you can get any good car, just be careful with bmw cars cause you will not be used to that kind of power to the back wheels

men)) are you ok in the head)) 200-300hp on the rear is no problem to handle... especially if you buy a newer car with traction control and other shit)) fwd is more dangerous because of understeer))

Lmao no, understeer is so much safer, you have no idea how many bmw's with rwd crash in lithuania. You are stupid to think that just because you or me can hsndle those cars doesnt mean other people will especially when its their first car

MK7 VW golf r, solid all around car you get in 3 or 5 door as well as manual or automatic. Not the most engaging raw driving experience but still engaging enough that daily driving it about 40km to and from work is enjoyable. It handles far above your average car and while the steering can be a little numb in spots its still predominantly playful and precise. If you can get one with DCC (adaptive suspension) it definitely gives you are that can be a capable back road corner carver as well as a comfortable highway cruiser. the awd system is great for launching the car and driving in the snow. i had little to no issues driving in about 25cm of snow and that was with summer tires with minimal tread left.

Maybe a Lexus RCF to be a bit different? A Maserati GranTurismo should be around that price that's 5 years old. BMW 4series and E class coupe are nice options too.

pro tip 1: 4 door saloon pro tip 2: never buy a new car when you buy a new car, the second you start the engine and drive 1 km it lost 10-20% of its original value.

I'd buy a little bit older, but premium car for 20-25k and invest 10-15k first year to make it perfect so it wont loose its value over time.
