he is one of these new kid generation rappers, that make rap for 13yo, but as he died of course people overate him a lot, its not my type of sound, he isnt ultra shit, but he is not a legend or anything lol, people tend to overate people that die everytime. RIP mac miller, but wont be listening to him because of that XD

if you listen to a lot of rap, you will realize theres sooo many mac millers around, this one was just famous, MAYBE if he could make music for more 15 years or something he could be something else, but his work so far isnt anything special, maybe if you compare him to these trap stupid raps, then ok... but rapper as a whole? nothing special. and I'm not hating.

I dont know, but I listened to it chillin when people put sound on, like ppls house, chillin at skatepark, on cars etc as I never got hyped for it, I never got any album to listen to on spotify or anything, but I probably listened more musics by him than people defending him here LOL I guess as he wasnt a trap guy, and actually talked words that make sense, he seemed very good for this genenration, but idk... just a theory

fucking hell, youre actually clueless lmao youre calling someone mediocre without even listening to their music, do you even know that mac miller at the age of 26 put out 6 studio albums, 2 live albums, 13 mixtapes and 2 ep's, go educate yourself and make yourself familiar with an artist before you start chatting about him lol

#41 sorry if I offended you, this wasnt my intention. but I'm almost 30 yo, been listening to rap my whole life, I know what I'm talking about. in terms of lyrics, flow etc he is nothing special, thats a fact, he is very generic and has tons of people that sing similar, he was just mainstream. if you take away the passion a little bit, this isnt something hard to understand, I'm not saying he was a piece of shit, or bad person or anything, I would listen to him before any trap/lean type artists kids hype nowdays.

yet again, how can you say his flow and lyrics were generic and mainstream if you only used to listened to him while skating n shit lmao his sound developed over the years a lot, i can agree with the fact he started off as your typical party anthem rapper, but he made a real quick u turn and his music turned into very dark, actually lyrical and meaningful, from there he went to boom bap and after that, his latest 2 albums had more like a rnb/jazzy feel to it, which i did not like btw

bro mac miller is basicly emo, but his generation was into rap thats bacicly it, I know he can talk about life and appear to kids blablabla but if you compare him to 90s 200s rappers he is average, this discussion here is actually the opposite, is not me not listening enough mac miller, is YOU not listening to real rap if you go thru nas, jay z, kool g rap, atmosphere etc albums your brain will explode, if you are used to mac miller life knowledge lyrics, you can find any style u want, white boys with money, black people coming from poor areas, etc, theres good old rappers of everytype lyrics, good beat, decent/good production but INSANE life knowledge thru the lyrics and remember, I'm not a mac miller hater, have NOTHING against him, I just think hes put him as a god cuz he died, and to me he is average, thats all I'm saying, dont take it personal!
2021-01-14 01:21
you don't know shit about rap lol watching movies with the sound off is not marketable for the mainstream, K.I.D.S. was not like anything out then

"he is one of these new kid generation rappers, that make rap for 13yo" this is blatantly wrong "he is not a legend or anything lol" yea that's why he's considered a legend. Songs with dozens of top tier rappers, praised universally on his death (not like peep getting praise by the actual new kid generation rappers) Mac miller is an incredible lyricist will an extreme amount of depth to his songs. If you actually have sat down and listened, you'd know this.

lil wayne has money and acess to a lot of legendary people in many different activity, even signing clothe, shoes etc from big brands with important people, he is a legend then? same goes to who ever have a lot of money and is on the mainstream. money, acess, power < raw talent. as I said I'm not hating, but he was VERY generic, thats a fact.

omfg this dude yes lil wayne is a legend in rap. Lil wayne probably influenced your favorite rapper's rapper. You are glaringly ignorant if you actually thought that acting like lil wayne isn't a legend in rap was a good point. And tbh I really can't take you seriously after saying that.

2021-01-14 04:17
nah, to me what defines a legend is talent, being mainstream = making mainstream music. by your logic donald trump is a legend, whatever people that are rich as fuck and have acess to shit is a legend LOL this is why music went to shit, mainstream has only garbage because of kids like u, of course lil wayne or whatever rich guy will have an awesome production (for example), he is rich as fuck... but money will never buy talent, get whatever underground rapper that is good, and compare lyrics with lil wayne, mac miller or whatever mainstream ppl appear =p

wayne is certainly a legend. one of the pioneers of autotune and lotta mumble rappers wouldnt exist without him. tf are you talking bout

but thats the key as a guy who is almost 30yo and listened to real rap my whole life mumble rap isnt rap, autotune isnt rap this is pop/mainstream/wannabe shit whatever legendary rapper from 90s that would just sing with his own flow on a boom bap beat > abism > any mumble rap

As a guy who is almost 30yo and listened to real rap my whole life, mostly because of the content inside the lyrics, I can say his music isn't for 13yo. And he had maybe the same vision as you and I have about music which is why I prefer only someone singing his own flow on a boom bap beat over any other type of RAP. He produced a lot of his songs, he played drums, electric guitar and piano in most of his tracks I think. He really enjoyed making music, and keeping it the way it is meant to be, not that technological bullshit that is becoming. I think you should listen to his albums, it's one of the artists that I can say that I saw evolving, musically speaking. The difference between his firsts albums and his latest ones is huge. I think he kinda established himself making somewhat mainstream music and to a younger public because he was young too when he started his career. I think he realized that and that's why their last albums are so 'mature' and unique from the first ones in my opinion.
2021-01-13 23:46
doesnt matter what you consider rap, generally mumble rap is rap. wayne has been named one of the goats by many top rappers. and mac miller is in no way music for 13 yos

maybe get out of your oldhead mentality and open your eyes to actually mumble rappers like future, travis scott young thug. btw i dont listen to mumble at all, just stating facts. and mac miller isnt a mumble rapper nor does he use autotune so what are you on about

well, if you are talking about being famous, getting money, awards and becoming the new trend of mainstream, then I agree 100%... what I'm saying is in terms of quality, if you think everything thats mainstream automatic translate to being the most quality shit ever, then I have nothing to say to you young men. but reality still reality LMAO, you kids should at least change the name of the genre, not put "rap" into any of it

cuz its easily the best sounding to me? the guy is literally not even close to top tier rappers. flow isnt anything special, rhyme wise he isnt even close to people like DOOM, Eminem, Earl or Big Pun. He might have some deep lyrics here and there but i cant stand his old stuff (mainly cuz of his voice) and he doesnt offer me anything on a technical level that other rappers cant do better. i like circles cuz it sounds pleasing, not cuz the guy was a skilled rapper

Same thing you hear every time these overrated hiphoppers die and people suddenly treat them as some underappreciated martyrs and greedy record producers making millions on their graves with deluxe releases.

Totally my opinion right here. He was good, not amazing by any means, his early work was consistent, by the end of his career he tried some nice things and he went pretty well, yes Swimming is underwealming, but Circles is good, the reason why people loved so much is because, the fact that he died feels like its a part of the album its almost like its planed, and sometimes art just happens in life, the album shows who Mac was, and how he felt, and in a way tells you "i'm this guy, and this is how and why i died"
