No, police bribery doesn't happen as often, it's usually the higher guys who get bribed. You won't meet a lot of narkomanov or gopnikov, so don't worry. Just remember, people in Russia don't smile a lot, but that doesn't mean we all are mean.

2021-01-14 14:08
As I know Yaroslavl is pretty chill city so its ok.
2021-01-14 14:10
Shouldnt be any problems there
2021-01-14 14:13
Don't try to argue with local obscurantism, it's widely spread, and it can be fatal for you. Get ready for masses of uneducated people who prefers physical strength, not intelligence.
And, god, please, swear me you are not going to talk anyone about your political views or sexual orientation. These people don't want any changes (if you want changes – you are traitor/enemy etc). They are proud of victory in WW2, tanks, rockets and it's justified price for them not to have okay welfare, medicine, infrastructure, human rights, etc.
As for products (I don't know about prices in KZ), they can be cheap, but check them carefully.
Police can be random. Somewhere they're ok, somewhere they're real gestapo. If you feel pressure from them, try to stand for your rights, record them on camera/live stream and so on.
Pepper spray is must-have, take care

Well, in Tyumen no one cares if you're Kazakh, Ruski or other nation, so don't worry about racism or something like this. Be nice and everyone will be nice to you

Watched a documentary just yesterday in which 2 dudes traveled from berlin to shanghai by bike and in russia they got stopped by a car, which was driven by 3 drunk russians and they tried to beat them up 😂

Yaroslavl is a chill and beautiful city from what I know. Gopniks don't exist in modern Russia, there still might be some aggressive guys, but this kind of shit has never happened to me, even though I had long hair for the most of my life, and I live in an unknown place in Eastern Siberia. It's not like Brazil or Mexico where you can get stabbed or robbed any time you're outside, but it's also not as safe as it is in Japan, for example, so you should be cautious, especially when you're outside in the night alone.
Anyways, people won't treat you any worse because you're a foreigner. Some will stay neutral, some will treat you even better by reason of interest, especially if you speak Russian. I don't know how it is in Slovakia, but Russian people may look angry to you, because we don't have any emotions shown until there's an actual reason, so we don't just walk around with smiles on our faces like Americans do, we even say, "Smekh bez prichiny - priznak durachiny", which is, "Laugh for no reason is a sign of foolery".
Good luck.

They will call you "a piece of wood"
2021-01-14 15:05
If you are a normal person and will communicate politely with others - ofc everything will be fine.
If you behave provocatively, then sooner or later there will be people who will break your nose.
2021-01-14 15:31
eldorado, dns, kei are the most interesting things in yaroslavl
2021-01-15 07:58
>what is the going rate for police bribery? will i get stabbed regularly by narkoman/gopnik?
lol, fuck off with ur pathetic baits
2021-01-15 08:11
Just be a polite and law-abiding person, don't walk on dark streets at night alone and everything will be OK!
2021-01-15 08:16
im getting stabbed by gopniks and narkomans atleast 3 times a day
3/10 would not recommend
2021-01-15 08:28
dude I am sorry to hear that, hope you do not have to stay for long
2021-01-15 08:50
First of all, be happy you are coming to Russia rather than Turkey
There are no gopniks
2021-01-15 09:02
wtf are you going to break the law there or what?
2021-01-15 09:05
I love russia, and if you‘re not gay, you get the best girls in the world there.
2021-01-15 09:09
I dont understand where your exaggeration about gopniks and narkomans comes from. Gopniks in large cities have long been gone so...
2021-01-15 09:24
Good luck! Average russian city, be friendly, don't be gay and everything will be ok.
2021-01-15 11:20
slovakian trying to mock russia, lol. with this kind of attitude better stay in your shithole.
2021-01-15 12:33
Why are russians the nicest but also the most evil nation at the same time? How do they do this?
2021-01-15 15:42
i feel like they are a bit like us with how the act towards strangers. polite, cold on the outside but get to know us youll find out we're nice people. French people and especially mediterrainian/bazilians think we are socially retarded because our norms are so different
2021-01-15 15:46
Yaroslavl is 200 km far from Moscow, pretty old town with historic center and typycal soviet appartment blocks. Russian policemen keep eyes on non-slavic people and check their passports in Moscow metro, for example, if you look like average slav, they will no pay attention to you. And if you are from European country, in will be easy for you to rent apartments for cheap by european standarts in the center of town with no gopnicks around.
2021-01-15 16:14
I don't know exactly how it's in Yaroslavl, but it's like large city (and one of the oldest) and near to Moscow, so I guess it's going to be pretty much like in every european country
Smth you probably (since I wasn't in Yaroslavl) you should get used to
1. A lot of USSR ugly looking and bad overall buildings
2. It's always dirty af near them
3. You might have some troubles if you've colored hair or really not classical way of looking, but since it's close to Moscow you probably won't (like 99% you won't)
Overall you should be just fine, Yaroslavl is pretty good city
