Device Mr Consistency but also grounded person. In CSGO he´s GOAT in another way than Simple and Zywoo, lower performance peaks.
Xavi, Pirlo, Buffon, Maldini never won the Golden Ball, but were outstanding and hugely influential for years and years, with loads of titles. I see Device a bit like that.

All I said was that's the easiest method to get very good stats... AWPs should play those positions to get an advantage for the team. Nothing wrong with that. But you just can't deny the fact that it's easier to get good stats playing AWP on a sweet spot compared to a rifler

Yes but there are plenty of AWPers who play these same spots, and are even more played around than Device, who dont even come close to players like Niko or Ropz stats who pretty much only rifle. AWPing isnt just a free ticket to being a top player, you still need to be extremely proficient with the weapon to be a top player.
And furthermore any other player in this GOAT CS:GO discussion would also be a player who is set up very well and was able to consistently trade off of teammates, players like KennyS, Cold, and S1mple (i'd say Zywoo too but hes only had 2 years to prove himself)
device in 2018 and 2019 was way better than GTR 2014, olof 2015, coldzera 2016 and coldzera 2017. He was just unlucky that s1mple and ZywOo had their peaks at the same time as him.
s1mple is the BOAT, and ZywOo has potential to be BOAT in the future, but if they don't win trophies, device will remain as GOAT

If we only looked at stats in Football, just give it to the topscore every year. Because thats what we do in CS.
In Football you wont win ballon d’or if you havent won WC, EC, National League or Champions League.
But in CS you can bait your mates for a year and become top 1 on HLTV which is not even official.

HLTV top 20 is not about who is the best cs player. its a computer adding some stats togehter and it will never be able to put all the things in that shows the best player in cs, also why Dev1ce is a better cs player than s1mple for one.
CS is a team game, you play with your team and form tactics to win the game. the best players are those that do that the best. not the one who has the best aim. its an overall thing, something hltv top 20 do not show, and is not meant to. top 20 is not called the best cs player of a given year.
Dev1ce have proven to be the most complete cs player we had so far, super high skill level, super high understanding and impact, top team play, top map movement and so on.
So yea GOAT.
Like Astralis as a team is GOAT. no team has been close to achieve what they have and have had that impact on cs as they had.
When the two swedish teams where best, it was in a different time. first of them didnt even play against pro teams.
Not saying this to disclaim what they did, they where strongest and best, and changed the sport for the better. however it was no at the level at Astralis.
And when Astralis where best no team before them, or after not even them self today would beat them. that Astralis played the best cs any team of any time have ever played.

If s1mple was GOAT of cs, he would not have basic cs flaws.
Cs is a tactical team game, you play tactics as a team and your team wins. S1mple for all he does well as a single player on his own. how insane some of the things are. he lacks things that overall helps the team and sacrifice himself for tactics..
meaning he cant be GOAT or the best cs player. because that is what it means to be "the best cs player" not how many headshots you get.

i think that, as csgo is a professional team competition, the n1 spot on hltv is just another reward for their performances and, by reward, i mean it as a secondary thing: players want to win the major, not the n1 spot on hltv, that's why its a secondary thing, this is not like street fighter which is an individual competition.

He for sure is the GOAT of csgo, it's undeniable. However, you can make a very strong case that he doesn't have the highest ceiling of all time, but that's mostly irrelevant.
Device is top 5 csgo players of all time but I think that the Greatest of all time should be someone who got #1 spot at least once, he won 4 majors but he had 4 really good players on his team as well, gla1ve, probably the greatest igl of all time, Dupreeh, Xyp9x and Magisk are all really consistently good players. I think he deserves a lot of praise for being very good so consistently and he has obviously worked very hard to be one of only 4 players with 4 majors and one of the only players with 2 major MVPs but I think that saying nobody is better than him is taking it a little too far

Nope. "Greatest" and "Best" are two different things. s1mple might be the best/most-skilled player in all history, but he doesn't yet have the "greatest" achievements. Because of 2018, it's reasonable to call him the BOAT, but not GOAT. That being said, I respect all opinions, including yours :)

No, GeT_RiGhT is better than Device.
GTR was a Top 2 player for 6 straight years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and including the best player of the year for 4 years (2009, 2012, 2013, 2014)
No. 2 best player of the year in 2010, 2011.
Device was never the best player in any year and was 5, 4 and 3 best player of the year some years.
GTR was no.1 for 4 years and no.2 for two years.
I may be misinformed but I think he lives in Sweden with a Swedish lady.
He is the starplayer playing for the team. The others are the starplayers where the team is playing for them.
Vitality has grown into a great team during 2020 as well as being successful with the 6-man roster idea, that Astralis never got going, but that's another story.
The obvious reason why Dev1ce has won as much as he had is due to the above mentioned reason. The teamplay by Astralis was the key.
The "numba one" individual may be exciting to hltv community, but it's a TEAM game.
All the flashy stuff looks cool on youtube, but it is NOT the winning recipe.
