Controlling your desires is a huge superpower.
Most people have pretty disturbing thoughts over the years in their life. Overall it's nothing to worry about, acting them out however is. But if you never have and don't have the impulse to, then I think you are in the clear.

Having bad thoughts doesn't make you a bad person, acting on them does. You are not a bad person and you are certainly not one because you assume yourself to be mentally ill, that just makes you unique on multiple layers, friend. :)

usually most people think of violent things every once in a while, if you are really scared that you will act out or are already acting out on minor things, maybe try seeing a therapist, really they help a lot, maybe also try find a hobby (take up painting it really helped me through dark times) really just anything or anyone that takes your mind off it (except drugs and alcohol) will help you a lot, i hope you feel better soon mate! :)

Well, I for sure don't have those, I can't even identify my thoughts right now.
these thoughts just serve to remind you of how dark human nature can be, its just a bit of nature. Sometimes you have period where you have these thoughts often, sometimes you have period where you dont have them at all, I think is normal.
what do you mean by "heinous things" ? do you fantasize about hurting other people?

Don't associate yourself with your brain. Usually people who do that are stuck in a loop where they become mentally ill.
Believe me, I had a huge episode of dementia when I took too many psychedelics and went into a club. I managed to snap out of it but if I didn't, I would probably be in a psych hospital rn. After that I figured out the brain can be the most powerful weapon, which can backfire if not careful. You're not the person your thoughts say you are.
I wouldn't say you're mentally ill since you're aware of your thoughts, so you need just to find something to raise your overall vibration and mood. Keep your mind occupied with things you know are not detrimental for you.
Also spend time in nature. It's the natural cure of bad thoughts 100%.
The reality of being human is that we are all capable of heinous things. It's easy to dwell on dark things when your mind is unoccupied. I was a lot better off when I was working.
Thoughts are just thoughts, it's so big deal since you aren't acting on them. THAT BEING SAID, thoughts are always the cause of actions, so having good thoughts is very important. Your thoughts also effect your hormones and your cells, so your mood and general energy levels / wellbeing is influenced quite a bit. I think you're fine, but put time into trying to control your thoughts and change the negative ones. There are plenty of ressources online, and if those don't work, don't be afraid to go see a doctor. But I really don't think you need to, just try to switch your philosophy in life maybe. The Buddhist ideal of loving all unconditionally is really good here as just by trying to do it you will be having so many positive thoughts which will effect your future thoughts and how dark or positive they are.
just go to crazyshit or liveleak, etc... & read those comments up there, u will find yourself pretty normal compared to those users
