you're the age of my cousin and i always saw her as way older than me even though she's only 5yo older than me XD, you must have finished university already like her right? i'll work as hard as i possibly can in my 20s and start enjoying harder in my late 20s and 30+ if life allows me, this age is decisive and i hope you're doing good in life :)

so you just discarded the impact these had on a whole generation of counterstrike players? Also while evaluating the skill level at that time, you just ignored the whole paradigm at that time. Getting a descent desktop was tough, there was no mm. People wanting to compete had to join a clan and organize scrims on dedicated servers. There was limited or no resources, only demos from pro-matches. Prize money was limited too, so whoever competed professionally was more driven and passionate. Yes the skill ceiling was lower, however 'the skill'- as we know it today was defined and shaped by gods like forest, gtr, neo etc

GeT_RiGhT has had year-on-year better performances than Device. Device was a top 5 player for 6 years. GTR was a top 2 player for 6 straight years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and including the best player of the year for 3 years (2009, 2012, 2013, 2014), no. 2 best player of the year in 2010, 2011 behind Markeloff and Neo. Device was never the best player in any year and had multiple 3s and 4s. GTR was no.1 for 4 years and no.2 for two years. Can't beat that.
