dude. In Norilsk u can at least sell ur housing and move somwhere else. (Who cars about ecology lmao) Ppl are selling flats in center of Vorkuta for 1/10 of price and nobody buys them. also give away for free on outskirts of the town. U literally can't get out of there even if u want.

well u can get decent money working in chemical plants there. In Vorukta 4/13 coal mines remain and there arent any jobs left

Scariest part is that in those houses there are still ppl left. Literally like 1 babushka living there per 5/6 houses without medical care, shops etc. No way to move out cuz ur flat is worth nothing and ur earnings are barely enough to exist

In 1991 there were like 200k ppl living in the Vorkuta ring area. Now barely 56k with 2k moving out/dying per year. (Fastest dying city in Russia by quite a margin) It's just that contrast between 200k and 50k

I think most countries has those kind of cities. In BR it's common on countryside to see small villagers that were once fully operational because of farms or miniing that no longer exists or changed culture and the villages just rots there, with 20-50 people still living in it

Yeah man, i understand that, only God knows how many such villages in Russia. There is a lot of villages where only adults or very old people live, and basically they exist due to little farms and their households with chickens or ducks. Young generations understand that there is nothing to do and they go for better life to city, and adults don't want to leave their places because they nowhere to go. There is no school, ambulance, nothing, except one small store perhaps. When olds die the village becomes abandoned 100 %. It's really depressing to realise that people used to live here and now this place is completely abandoned.
The only people such villages might be attracted to are enthusiasts who like to explore abandoned places and find something of value.

yea tbh Rome is honestly a city i want to visit espicaly the Colosseum the Father of Football Stadiums the truth is the ancient Romans were far far ahead of their time just remember what they achieved with far less advanced technology to this day structures they built still stand 2,000 years later and fucking Aqueduct that to this day still carry water to places and roads that are actually driveable even tho they were made pretty much 2,000 years before cars

your list is pretty good but also pretty euro centric. The time periods are a little bit off;
constantinople lost its importance way earlier; Aachen ,Tournai,Paris as capitals of the frankish empire would be contenders. The end date of paris is weird , should be 1813 ending with the Battle of leipzig , i also see no reason for paris from 1850 to 1900 should either go to berlin after 1871 (-1910ish after its political isolation) , or just stay with london.
Present day new york is also correct-imo-but the start date should be later.

1) yes it's eurocentric but there are no non-european cities that can be called the capital of the world except in ancient times
2) agree constantinople probably lost its importance after the capture of the crusaders 1204
3) it's not "the end of paris" but since the 18th century, especially the second half, vienna has been the heart of europe with large factories, especially textile, it was also a center of culture, especially musical
4) maybe it should stay in london, but I decided that after the industrialization of all european countries, paris became the main city again. you know jermans always dreamed of paris, not london
5) well, NY can be considered the main city after the WW1, but even in the beginning of the 20th century, the US became the main world power

"the end of paris" i was reffering to the end date that you gave for paris with 1750 which is a bit odd to suggest paris was less powerfull and important or influecial under napoleon in his prime. I`d say between 1750 and 18 13 Paris was certainly the capital of europe with its revoluitionary ideas, its political importance and its sheer power projection as the capital of the french empire.
Vienna was very imporatant 2 , but i would argue for an earlier time period. Sometimes people forget that the HRR wasnt always a useless confederation of german staates. There were times were it actually was an empire ; untill 1240 it was definitely the most powerful political entity on the European continent, in that time period you could always make a case fo whatever the capital of the HRR was, especially if it was Vienna.

i strongly disagree with your first statement (except for Tokyo) as France (specifically Paris) is quite nationalist. Hong Kong and London are incredibly diverse cities in terms of different nationalities of people temporarily living and working there.
But yeah the Hong Kong-China relationship would be an issue.

The uk isn't very strong but it has a lot of diplomatic ties because of empire and strength during the world wars. pre-brexit, i'd for sure pick london, now i'm not too sure but it's still up there for me.
i dont see why New York isn't in the picture as it's historically been the most important city for western business and has a lot of recent historical significance, but if you insist.
i did forget to mention Amsterdam. Netherlands is a generally well liked country and Amsterdam is a very international city.
