fps and smoothness

so my monitor is set to 75hz, but whenever my fps drops to below 130ish my game starts to feel choppy, even tho i still have more fps than refresh rate, why does this happen? and do you guys know a way to minimize this? i tried vsync but it feels like my mousepad turns to ice and i slide everywhere

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
75hz will always feel choppy regardless of FPS

but in situations where my framerate is like 200 the game feels fine to me
2021-01-19 19:29
it's better to have a 240 hz monitor with 180/200 fps than a 75hz monitor with 400 fps :o

3. get a computer that'll output 200fps consistently
2021-01-19 20:00
its normal, its start to feel choppy with 200fps on 144hz too, dont put vsync or other shit sync, u just need to buy i5 10600k with good RAM for 300 fps+ , gpu is not important, just buy 1060 for 80dollars, and buy 144hz plz or delete, cs go is not assasins creed, respect this game with decend config

it gives you the upgrade path to the 5600x in a few years maybe too))) I'm still on an r5 1600 at 4ghz waiting for r5 5600
2021-01-19 19:50
Here I can barely find 3600 that isn't 30$-40$ more expensive than 10400f

What do you mean by choppy? If it is screen tearing, it is normal to happen cause your are playing at a larger fps than your monitor's refresh rate. It does not show much when the fps is too high like 250+ or whatever, but the closest it gets to your refresh rate, lets say, from 80 fps to 150 (just an example), it will show a lot of screen tearing. To eliminate that you either use vsync (which is no good for competitive fps games), or change monitors to a higher refresh rate one, or just buy a better pc to get fps around 300 so you dont feel the tearing even at a low refresh rate monitor

i cant tell, probably is tearing since you discribed it perfectly, you think locking my fps to something closer to 75 help?

Locking at your monitor's refresh rate will eliminate the screen tearing. Try doing it via console command, instead of the vsync option in game. Leave vsync off. Now you gonna have to decide if you wanna play without the tearing capped at 75 fps, or with a higher fps but not high enough to eliminate screen tearing, since you cant reach 250+ fps constantly.

cap your fps at 200 and see if it gets better. i don't know why or how, but sometimes this happens to me (also 75hz mon) and capping works, most of the times.. it's kinda random for me.. i don't understand why, but on one day i open the game and it is smooth as a silk and on the other is just 'edgy' and 'stuttery'

same about the randomness, but regarding the cap, i rarely get 200+ on firefights, would that still help?

cap at 180.. i usually get 300 fps but the drops go to 180 too on heavy fights (mollys and smokes).. usually works.. i also have another thing that works 100% of the time but might not be suitable for you - i play on a laptop with external peripherals and while in game, closing the lid (suspending windows) and starting again usually leaves me with the best fps possible for quite some time. someone once told me that his 'reloads' the driver, but i don't know for sure why it works

sure man, good luck. one thing tho, this sometimes fucks up discord, so i recommend you close it before trying. also, discord itself is a major fps killer, leave it always minized to the tray when playing!

It's because of your frame times. Frames per second don't line up with your monitors set refresh rate. The more fps you have, the better the frames can align with your monitors refresh rate, and the smoother it feels. That's why with v-sync it feels consistently smooth (granted you have 75fps+), but there's a fat delay with that. And that's also why with fps far beyond your refresh rate, it can still feel better than it being capped at your refresh rate

more fps makes the mouse smoother

As I feel, its not about HZ at all. I remember when I had 60 fps with 60hz, when I had 120 fps with 60hz and when I had 200 fps with a 60hz and there is a big difference, I feel it.
