just invest into a good audio setup with an interface and you're set don't buy cheap shit like these products you listed, none of them will have a good mic quality

Is audio interface an amp or something

It's a device with converters and an amp. Definitely worth it though, an audio interface + a decent pair of headphones is so much better than a gaming headset.

Good setup will cost over 300€ (If we're talking headphones audio-interface and a mic). Not worth the investment if all you do is play games by a long shot.

I am still interested in setups, not talking about the money (I am thinking of dong other stuff with it as well, not rly gaming any more)

Okay bro! In that case i'd recommend DT-770 250ohm, MOTU M2 (Extremely good for that price point, though you can go with a cheaper one like a scarlett) and i'd say Rode NT-1 or AT2020 those are solid choices, though you can always find cheaper ones too. That wraps up to around 450€ give or take depending on where you buy, this setup will last you literally forever. You can tell me your budget and i can go look for one in that pricerange, i have alot of experience with these.

Ah I hadn't even considered going closed back, I guess it depends on where they'll be used. Personally I like open back cans for CS, but I can see why someone wouldn't want them. Glad to see the M2 getting some hype, a lot of people I know really like it.

Yea that is a very good point! edit: To add The DT-770 is a very good universal solution, wheter you're travelling or even inside they're very nice to work with, especially if recording vocals or guitar and whatnot
2021-01-22 22:34
should have told you that I ve got very nice sony heads and a good xlr (with phantom power) mic, but what kind of DAC/amp interface should I go for? I ve got an zoom h5, which I could also use as USB XLR DAC interface, which does its job quite okay, but if there would be one rly good all in one solution, it would be nice...

The MOTU M2 is especially praised for it's extremely good headphone amp, and everything else from the preamps to the latencys are all very good! It also comes with the loopback function which will be very nice if you're a streamer or content creator. If you want a really good audio interface, this is the one you should go for. Now im not that familiar with the H5 or your current plans for the audio interface so you'll need to decide if you need it or not.

thanks, that looks perfect to me :)
2021-01-23 10:39
For an interface a solid starting point would be a Focusrite Solo. If you'd rather just stick with a 3.5mm mic like a Modmic, then you could look at something like an Micca OriGen G2, an O2/ODAC combo, or any amp/DAC combo by Fiio. Most of these are going to run somewhere around $100. For headphones you have a ton of options. Around $100 an Audio Technica ATH AD900X is pretty solid, around $150 you can grab a Beyerdynamic DT990, and above $200 you have so many options I couldn't even begin to list them all. There's also going to be a solid Sennheiser option for all of the different price brackets. If you wanna get something a bit better for the interface, a Motu M2 has a fantastic headphone amp.

If you're already invested in good gear the Motu M2 would be your best bet for under $200. It's got 2 inputs and one the best headphone amp in its price range. I personally wouldn't use the H5 as an interface just because it seems messy. I've considered using mine that way, but it seemed like a pain in the ass to work into a setup, especially if I wanted to take it out and use it as a field recorder. It would help to know exactly what mic/headphones you've got though, I don't want to suggest something that is gonna bottleneck your existing gear.

oh, in 1.6 times it absolutely WAS, it was like cheating at some point... but 1.6 sound >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> cs:go sound 1.6 hat fantastic positional audio, cs:go is so much worse sound wise its unbelievable... it turned me down on csgo so hard, but i got used to it by now :P its just listening to a washing machine, but as everything in cs:go, now its the same sluggish shit for everyone which makes it more fair, but also lowers the quality ceiling by faaaaaaaaaaaaar (compared to old unforgiving but high quality engines)

Yer true, I know some streamers/youtubers who have bigger setups and sure it's better and it makes sense for them, but I didn't get the idea from Edze that's what he ment, I might be wrong though

You can just use a microphone stand that mounts to the desk and it won't ever get in a way, as you can move it freely wherever and it will just hang there in the air. But if you don't care much about audio quality then it's whatever. Just wanted to show you how big of a difference there is between a budget XLR mic and a high end gaming headset.

I have looked at them before :) But I don't use my mic often, just sometimes in game and when I'm in call on discord, but if I sound fine than that's alright with me :) I'm quite shy on mic anyway haha

I have logitech x pro, I think. If it's the ones g2 also have and some other pro teams. Mic quality not great but not horrible. sometimes has a weird kind of static sound but I fix it by moving the mic slightly. I only have had this on the 2nd pair of these. The first ones broke.

I use hyper X cloud revolver. I don't use the mic that came with it but I can confirm that it's absolute donkeys balls. Even worse perhaps, a total fuckknuckle sandwich, a footlong one. With no fucking cheese and extra anchovies. It's really not ideal. The headphones are great though, comfy and very good directional audio.

buy beyerdynamic dt770 pro, super cheap, probs best closed back headphones you can get for this price and quite a bit above too, but if you dont want to buy an amp or dac, you should get the 32 ohms version, if you do have an amp or dac or is willing to get one, i then get either 80 or 250 ohms
