what to do when robots make food instead of farmers + replace all jobs? nobody would need to work unless they want more development. what would you do all day?

The technological singularity—also, simply, the singularity—is a hypothetical point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization. Robots repairing themselves and designing better versions until humans are no longer needed at all.

Yeah but European population is not exploding actually the opposite. It's the third world that needs some culling not us . And we're getting it just the same as them

Per capita Europeans consume way, way more resources and pollute way more as well. The EU is a net importer of food with some places being way worse than others. The overpopulated third world country trope isn't completely accurate, many of these places are completely food sufficient and have low pollution rates per capita.

EU pollutes more than 3rd world ? U got be joking. Just ocean pollution comes from rivers all from Asia and Africa. That's plastics going to the ocean and industrial waste. In EU we recycle stuff.

Per capita dude. And guess what? All that stuff from China and third world factory countries is for European consumption, and you guys STILL manage to be top polluters in your own countries. The US isn't any better, but at least I'm not sitting here pointing fingers even though the facts oppose me like you are. Use some common sense dude. Do you think some dude living in a mud hut with a straw roof in some third world country is polluting a hundredth of what the average European does?

I understand your point. But the problem is that they have no environmental conscience, and they literally are just breeding out of control lay garbage everywhere, im not in favour of murdering them or sterelize them through vaccines like this, but their over breeding is a definite problem

Most third world countries aren't breeding out of control outside of maybe Africa. Even India (which seems to be the famous overpopulation example) has its population begin to decline well before the end of the century, and even now they're just above replacement level. Africa may be out of control, but once again some guy living in a mud hut isn't gonna be a heavy polluter. Third world countries and China pollute making products for Europe/USA, and then we pollute heavily in our countries. I'm not gonna point fingers when it's pretty objectively our fault.

Calling me names, but says "breeding like rats" in the present tense. And brings up data from 1950. "they are breeding like rats" You said they ARE breeding like rats currently, the current birth rate isn't even replacement level. Obviously, you're flat out wrong and can't handle it so you gotta bring up data from 1950 and start naming calling, pathetic. Admit you're wrong like a man.
2021-01-22 06:49
Of course, they are doing now what the "superior" 1st world did 100 years before and is harvesting NOW. Easy to yell at them when you have a good life because your ancestors did the same (but you conveniently ignore).

I'm honestly not sure how people defend landlords. It's the most braindead "job" known to man. Property values constantly go up because they rigged the market so no new affordable housing is built, and on top of that they get thousands of dollars per month in rent just for owning their investments which constantly grow in value.
2021-01-21 05:44

People just look at the structure of the economy and accept it as it is, and defend that status quo till death. It's honestly unreal how certain education systems can mold people's brains in a way that they are completely incapable of imagining any other system. Landlords, at most, do a few minutes of vetting for their tenants. Then they just rake in thousands and thousands for literally nothing, like you said. Someone else mows the grass. Someone else fixes the pipes. Someone else repairs the roof. The landlord just pays those people with the money from the tenant. And if the landlord owns any substantial property, then they just pay a management company to pay all of those people for them. Pure leeches.
2021-01-21 05:57

I'd think they're useless even if the system wasn't rigged, but it's even worse than what you're describing. Zoning laws are in place in almost every developed country that prevents building new housing easily, it's especially bad in the US though. Since there's no new housing being built, the value of what's there is always going up. Their "profession" would be slightly more tolerable if they had to consider any new developments being built and how that would affect their rents and property values. But, nope they're working in a protected market.

Totally agree. That was partially my point even. Even in an extreme best case scenario, they literally do an hour or two of work, and then extort working class people for as much money as possible until the housing unit crumbles. Of course when you add in the corruption and lobbying, it gets really fun :DDD
2021-01-21 06:01
if you were a landlord you would not say that. and if you say you wouldn't if you could then that is just a poor mentality. Either take what you can or get fucked like everyone else

I probably would keep saying that even if I was a landlord. I'm perfectly willing to call out my own bullshit. Of course I'd still collect the checks at the end of the day because that's what this world's come to...

Not all jobs, I'm afraid there are just some jobs robots will never be able to replace. Even then, the jobs robots do have, they are often assisted by humans anyway. It is mostly mass production robotics are utilised.

It's gonna be a while until every job is replaced by AI's and robots. I work with AI, not an expert though, and the current estimation is it'll pass human intelligence by the 2040's. I personally disagree with this, but I think it'll be better than a human at whatever specific task it's trained towards by then.

Been saying this for years. In the future there's gonna be a techie class (engineers, programmers, doctors (for the rich ofc), scientists, etc...), then an investor/corporate executive class above them, then the ruling class. And there's of course gonna be overlap between these classes since tech workers have the most money in salary to invest.

Robots already do a large part of farming. Most physical labor jobs will be around for a while still. For sure in our life time. Jobs like lawyers where robots already are better than people are at reading contracts and shit like that will disappear for human beings. I could see doctors / surgeons working side by side with robots at some point. It's probably the highest paying jobs, dentist, lawyer, surgeons ect that will go before the shit jobs.

The working person has less and less income to spend on this kind of stuff. These industries at best will remain stagnant, and more realistically begin to contract. The idea that they'll expand is a good thought, but not realistic unfortunately.

You should look up bullshit jobs and why they exist. Since the pandemic started companies have already been rooting out inefficiencies (ie bullshit jobs). Most things are automated even now, and the idea that everyone will have a job will be laughable in 30-40 years.

Well yeah, going outside earth theres lot of stuff to use but energy is always limited good point. But I think this AI/Robot thing will one day get to a point where like 50% are unable to work any job. Only lucky or exceptionally talented people have jobs and the rest are fucked. Then the percentage goes up until only a handful of oligarchs are left.
2021-01-21 14:31

#32 My prediction is there will be 3 classes with increasingly concentrated wealth. The techie class which I estimate will be making (25,000 to 10,000,000+ USD annually adjusted for inflation). Ranging from basic coders that haven't been automated away to specialized research scientists with extremely rare knowledge on profitable corporate technology. An investor/corporate executive class (100k- billions if not trillions annually). And a ruling class with an unparalleled amount of money, power, and fame (100's of billions to trillions annually easily and/or an obscene amount of power). Everyone else just scrapes by to survive.
2021-01-21 20:09
The owners of the robots will do fine while the rest just starve out. The owners of the robots will then wage brutal war over who gets most resources (with automated killer robots after killing all the normal people) until one is left, the "king of the hill". And that's the end of humanity folks.

I predict something more like #83. Engineers still need to built these robots so they'll be around. And I can see salaries on engineers who have specialized skills increasing and run of the mill engineers' salaries decreasing.

Give #83 a look. In my prediction of the future even low paid workers are highly skilled because the market is so competitive. I'm an engineer myself, so it's not like I'm unaware or unappreciative of the sheer amount of work and dedication it takes to even become a basic engineer. From my field, this is where the job market seems to be going imo.
2021-01-22 06:49
