I was young watching HxH, exam was first arc and it was like a new amazing adventure for me as a kid. Sorry to hear that you didn't like the anime, one of my favourites for sure, but opinions are opinions

yes, pacing was a big issue at hxh. I agree with you, the characters saved the anime for me, specially Hisoka because he was a bit of everything.
