The verse in the Bible that most Christians make reference to is Leviticus 19:28, which says,”You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.”

This is very much up for interpretation and in the german translation it doesn't say tattoo but carve. I think that you would need to read it in hebrew to get an accurate impression.

+1 Tattoos only colour the top layers of the dermis, it doesn't infect or affect your skin in the slightest but the blood and plasma donations has some factual merit to it.

Indeed! It's only after just getting tattooed your skin is different because it's basically a shallow wound. Hence why hygiene is important.

You could also have an allergic reaction in which the skin where your tattoo is will become sore, red and blotchy. It happened to my Brother when he got a tattoo on his forearm but went away after about 2-3 weeks.

Yes allergies can make a difference. Of course it's best to know if you have any or not, because then they will give you the proper advice for it. Sometimes you don't know beforehand though.

That's totally fine. Everyone has different opinions on the matter, just make sure when facts come into play that they are correct (like healthy/non-healthy).
2021-01-24 16:28
That is not true though. Your body seese the ink as invasive and actively combats it. Your lymph nodes turn green / black / blue when you get tattooed and that certainly isn't healthy.

I doubt that this reaction is very common given how many people will often have tattoos in this day and age.
2021-01-24 16:35

That is not a great argument to make. Plenty of people still smoke, that does not mean that it is harmless. Every invasion you make to your body is harmful in some sort of way, you have to assess whether that harm is worth the benefit of the invasion. When getting a tattoo you always risk an infection, you risk an allergic reaction to the ink which might occur ten years after getting the tattoo and depending on the ink your tattoo artist uses, it might contain benzoapyrene which is likely to be cancerous.

I'm fairly certain those opting to get a tattoo knows of the pros/cons beforehand... Smoking is obviously not an apt comparison as smoking is inherently extremely dangerous with very few pros, tattoos on the other hand are not inherently dangerous, just the risk of one going wrong, which is to obviously be expected when ink is being injected into the top layers of dermis.
2021-01-24 16:43
I think you're talking about allergies, as with that your system will actively combat it hence you get a bad reaction to it. It's true that it can travel to the lymph nodes depending on the individual, but this should not affect anything in the long run. Except with bad ink! Which you should avoid and if you go to proper artists it shouldn't happen.

Actually the blood donation has nothing to do with that, it's purely a precaution to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. HIV being the most common concern. Here in Australia if a tattoo has been done at a licensed premises you can give blood immediately. If not you need to wait 4 months and then be screened.

It's been a while since I looked it up and can mostly find American rules about it. In the Netherlands I couldn't back then with one of my first tattoos. Infection is the main one yes you're right.
2021-01-24 17:43
In the Netherlands, needle-related events (NREs) including tattoos, piercings, and acupuncture are a reason for temporary blood donor deferral. Could find this still, so very common here you can't do it either way, even though it's licensed etc.

Yeah but it has nothing to do with the tattoo, it's purely to do with the risk of infection. Licensed tattoo/acupuncture/piercing joints here have strict regulations enforced so our red cross allows blood donation provided these activities have been carried out in licensed Australian premises. Any overseas or non-licensed activities like this require a 4 month wait here, it also used to be 9 months (this was common worldwide for decades to do with the HIV incubation period).

Yes and I plan on staying that way. I'm already phobic of needles as is, let alone opt to ink my arm with some kind of art. I can understand the reason why others have a tattoo but I won't get one. Plus, they are SO bloody expensive for just a piece of ink on the arm - it's ridiculous at times.

I get that and I assume it is based upon the size? Full-body tattoos will obviously cost a LOT because of the time, quality and effort that goes into it but my Brother had a tribal pattern on his forearm and it still cost him about £150.00, which is $205.22 when converted into USD. That is still on the more pricier side of things, though again it is completely understandable in a way.

Correct, its based upon the size, adding colours to that cost much more of course and top of that quality makes how much it cost in the end. It is, still i find it worth it.

i've got both my arms tattooed and one on my leg, its understandable why so many people don't like the idea of them (religious or just personal reasons) the idea of paying a lot of money to sit there and have ink stabbed into you by someone isn't the best sounding experience. it's just kinda weird seeing all these people say its ugly etc etc because you won't hear someone with them make fun of you for not getting tattoos but i guess that's life. enjoy it and do what makes you happy.

I was thinking of getting my first last year, but I didn't have crazy amount of money to get something cool and I had a lot of cool ideas, but most of them felt dumb after re-thinking month later. I was thinking of maybe getting something Star Wars themed, since that franchise has been really important in my life.

Ppl who tattoo are usually unsecure people who want to "look cool" so they draw the attention with the tattoo. You don't need a tattoo to be "cooL" PS. Nowdays every virgin nerd has a tattoo. Before: When ur mom/dad was picking you from school, you were called the biggest looser Now: Everyone brings/picks kids from school with cars Before: Everyone when someone had an tattoo, they were usually "bad people" Now: Every virgin nerd has one just because its CooL KtxhBye
