Another year of Counter Strike and another update of the yearly list. I decided to add average points per year they appeared in the top 20 for this year and I also removed placements in each year since it just got to messy, but i hope you guys like it anyways. I'll see you guys on January 20th 2021 for the 2013>2021 ranking.

2010/2011 rankings were 1.6 and 2012 wasn't included due to the fact CS:GO was only know for about 6 months, not a full year.

GTR would've been number 1 in 2012 if there had been any rankings, no question about it. Others (myself included) "unofficially" count it as one of GTR's accolades.

yeah since he was way ahead the rest in terms of how to play the game (this is what i've read and heard)
Trace was the IGL for mTw, one of the best 1.6 teams which was hands down the best Danish 1.6 team.
The current coach for Astralis "Zonic" played for tge very same mTw in 1.6 and he was a beast.

You posted an article about Wikipedia blunders and that is because humans are imperfect, Wikipedia and encyclopaedias/encyclopedias are made by humans, therefore the "facts" and "information" can sometimes be falsified and an incorrect fact-check is obviously one hell of a blunder.

yeah the kid is really impressive. i was doubting him before he went pro since many zywoo fans were hyping him up so much but he proved me wrong.

2012 didn't have a top20 because it was a transition year.
Yes, competition is much higher now than in 2013 but the fact that your list has the entire Astralis roster in the 1-5 spots already makes it stupid.
The top players back then were still the top players according to the level of competition there was. GeT_RiGhT was top 1 two years in a row and while I definitely wouldn't put him in the same level as s1mple or ZywOo not even including him in the top 30 is ridiculous. You even have TACO on it.

The problem with these lists is that the number 20th spot only gets 1 point. That means the difference between being a silver I and the #20th is the same as the difference between #20 and #19, and getting #20 is virtually worth nothing even if it is an accomplishment. Maybe you could start with 20=5, 19=6 or something like that.

i thought about it since 2017 when i started but i found it hard to decied what point system to rank them from but in the end i chose this way and now i dont think i can change the point system since i've already made 4 lists now and it would be weird if i did a new list for the next year with a different point system

First place points should be much higher than 2nd and 3rd etc. This is so biased for especially device and NiKo.

ofc my list isnt without any flaws and in general my list is more benefitial to consistant players which dev1ce shows consistantly staying in top 5 but still no #1 yet. I wanted to change the point system but since i had already made 3 lists before this one it would'nt be fair if i changed the whole point system
This point system is interesting but it does not work to determine the best of al time. Also for each of the categories only being one point difference is actually pretty dumb. Not all top 1s should be valued the same that goes for all placements as well

For the simplicity for the argument I would stick to important games being only finals performances. This will help being consistently objective.
And I would say that any tournament that had invited at least 5 top 10 teams of the given time period should be considered a tier a tournament.
For example simples last performance in the blast series was staggering, now I'm not a big simple fan, but being an objective fan of csgo I think that was something to behold of.
So even though this was not a major, a performance like that should be taking into consideration.
Also last year's zywoo performance against navi in the final was incredible.
So you have to set the framework yourself for what a tier a tournament is, because I believe that winning a tier a tournament today is far more difficult than winning a major 4 years ago.
It is really difficult to create an objective framework, but it should be doable.

This is a cool list :) My only suggestion to make it more reflective of the actual top 20 of all time is maybe to weight top 1 a little more, give some point value to majors/major mvps, and give some point value to carrying shitty teams (and as such having a lower hltv ranking even though they dominate the server). I also liked the suggestion for making top 20 start from 5 points. Maybe you could make a All time top 20 ranking 2.0???

Zywoo is more talented. He doesn’t even play all day long like simp. Without all the bait stats, simps inability for teamwork and toxicity would place him under top 5. In CS you need to be a good team player, something he should learn. Players like Zywoo and device are great team players, that is why they win and Navi lose.

cold and gtr with 2 top1s behind ppl without any top1 is very contraditory imo,top1 should reward more points,lower top20 positions like 20 or 19 should count more too,in this way being outside of top10 is useless to the ranks,+it would be nice if you give extra points for majors mvps and top5 rating in majors
imo this system have some flaws but the results are decent in great part of the scenarios

this list isnt to "prove" who is the best of all-time. I just simply like to do these lists every year and it shows just the leaderboard in terms of top 20 points. I myself dont see Dev1ce as the best csgo player of all time but thats just my opinion

i was talking with another guy @gofundme5 in this thread about making a list which include ratings in crucial games and tournaments ratings to add more context and change the point system a bit if you're interested
Each player should be in the solitary conditions. For example coldzera and Fallen had good years while Zywoo had only 2 years of pro cs and was top 1 in each of them. Would work if we built some scoring system that scores each player differently depending on the results each year. This could potentially give us the real list of greatest of the all time since the start of cs.

I'm saying AVG should give an idée of consistency of the player.
So you shall just count year outside of the top 20 as a 0 point year.
Otherwise, you get dosia with a 17pts average, the same than simple....
The AVG of dosia shall not be 17/1=17, but shall be 17/8 =2 pts if we consider dosia started high csgo level 8 years ago (random example I don't know when he started)

dev1ce is by far the most consistant player ever (in csgo) has many achievments to back up the goat claim but for me he needs to be #1 in in a top 20 list to call himself goat. IMO Coldzera has the goat claim atm since he had both achievements and skill.
meanwhile S1mple and Zywoo are both young and if they can win more trophies and atleast one major they could be in the claim for goat

well you have elige there. even if elige has been more time on competitive cs, the shined on 2019 and 2020 and even at his best he was no where close to zywoo. Zywoo is at least a top 10 of all time.

I respect your effort, and is naturally glad to see Dev1ce on top.
But by your method four times 2nd place is worth more than three times 1st place and one time 10th.
It simply doesn´t work that way - #1 is remembered and celebrated much more than #2, just like the prize money are much bigger for an event winner.
Your system needs an adjustment, so it´s graded better for the winner. Like the F1 racing point system:
The winner receives 25 points, the second-place finisher 18 points, with 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 points for positions 3 through 10, respectively.
On top of that should be added some bonus points for Titles and MVPs.

That is a huge flaw to this type of ranking how can you called best of all time when your list doesnt reward consistent placing in the top 20 ? However you look at this ranking there is a flaw, think more about it add more stuff you cant just leave it like that, i mean in theory you can but its not a real system in my opinion
Also dont be lazy add 2011 and 2010 to the ranking there is no reason of not uncluding those
