He's a legend but in the same way Elige would be if he were to retire today.
That might be a little to real for some of you but the numbers are the numbers and his best year came in a much less competitive time for the game. CSGO if we're being honest with ourselves was just getting rolling in 2015/2016.

Anyway he was just an example for how much the bar has actually been raised. And as far as accomplishments there is literally zero argument for Olof over Dupreeh or Device.
He was instrumental in building the scene and was part of the first CS dynasty. But like I said in my original post the level of play exploded in 2016. There's no good argument against that. Just go back and watch a 2014 or 2015 match it looks like a high level MM game strategically.

Which is why I said you can use other numbers that always existed to find the exact same thing.
I'm not going back to look at the pages but Olof's 2015 had the same KPR and a .01 higher K/D then Elige in 2019.
Which is the point. If your best year is maybe slightly better then the fourth best player four years later when the level of competition is significantly higher you aren't the goat.

Theres also big events in there and Olof is higher.
Lets also add olof was a more complete player, he could do anything, he was also one of the best players in the world if not the best with force buy weapons, then you have the fact he can awp and rifle, Elige is just a rifler, you then have the fact Olof was an aggro player who would routinely single handily split open sites, Elige on the other hand is a passive player who only rifles.
You also then couple Olofs T side play with the fact the meta was different it was more CT sided for a start.

Personally I believe it's Device as he's the highest rated statistical player on the best team in the world for a very long time aat this point.
But you are welcome to be extremely impressed by a guy like Simple for his stats alone.
I'm a pretty numbers based guy. Just who I am. And the numbers are clear on where someone like Olof sits in the entire CSGO player ranking which is why I essentially gave you people a trigger warning in my original post. To take it a step further players like Electronic or Elige will very likely go down at the end of their careers as even better players then Olof and it won't be that close.

Zywoo hasnt won enough.
Device has never been the worlds best.
Olof has 2 majors and was worlds vest player once but has fell off so hard the last few years.

Cold, hes was the best for 2 years when CSGO was full of great teams, he won 2 majors and remained a good player for a few years after.
Olof, was the best for a year, won 2 major, however in an era with more major, was also an good player in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Devices level hasnt really changed his entire career which is amazing but hes never broken into the number 1 spot, hes won loads but hes never been the best player in the world while doing so.

You can be the best player to ever touch a mouse, but if you are from a nations without a good enough scene at the time youll never achieve anything really, its just not really a title that can be given to anyone as there are so many things that cant be compared.

You guys think I'm taking away from Olof I'm not. I'm comparing him to a guy who's been a top 20 player for four years running and set records that will never be broken.
It's not a slap in the face to Olof. What it is is the correct context to put him and most of the players who's big success in CSGO (Not CS as a whole that's different) came in 2015 or before.
If you don't like the numbers argument and you feel your eye test tells you something else that's fine. But understand that's a really shaky position.

Elige is part of the entry pack on basically every iteration of Liquid aside from maybe 2016. It's why year in year out he has some of the best opening kills numbers for a rifler.

Of course. He's a legend of the game. He'll be seared in the brains of CS fans for his burning defuse, his scout play on Overpass and his train plays on T side generally.

But they do both make space for the rest of the team. In TL's case I would argue that historically NAF and Twistzz were the ones profiting off of Elige and Stewie's (and Nitros) space making. In a team that fluid you don't always really have a pure entry.
That actually goes for the whole scene. As an exmaple Dedi lurker like Happy don't really exist anymore. You still have guys like Ropz and BlameF but the style is still much different then it was back in 2014.

In Europe maybe. In NA he'll be remembered as a record setting player who's been consistently excellent since he burst onto the scene.
Maybe a major winner when it's all said and done as he's still just 23.
I have no idea what the future will hold but if you go look at that guy who tabulated the best players over the year Elige climbs those rankings every year and he's already top 10 I believe I'd have to go back and look.

All those players you mentioned are excellent in their own right but they've all been surpassed. Some simply aged out. Some were too one dimensional and some have simply fallen off.
It's part of what makes CSGO fun. The longevity of the game itself. To the point where we have different eras of not only teams but players themselves.
