tryhard is a mindset (ok, the available servers today are mostly for tryhards) but 1.6 was for you to play however you liked. in every game there will be tryhards as much as people just having fun.. 1.6, css, go..
Sonic overall is just nostalgia. Objectively it was not that good, and didn't age well as Mario games from NES/SNES.
I love Generations tho.

nah i still find enjoyment in it even though my raichu and Ivysaur are literally unkillable
I still have to beat 2 of the zero isles and recruit some more of the legendaries (im trying to get darkria)

just cause 3 is one of the most fun games, the movement is crazy deep (you have a grappling hook, wingsuit, parachute, and vehicles but if u know how to use wingsuit you will never have to enter a car, you also have aircraft) and the action is so cool, many explosions and fast stuff happening, the game revolves about blowing shit up basically
